*We already know Hasbro is making SS'86 a tank. We already know safety laws. Any comments talking about such will be deleted. We off that now* Which G1 Megatron was your favorite?
I'm fine with an SS86 Tank Megatron, as long as it nails everything else, and manages to be a great looking Tank as well. But no way would I choose a tank, if had the choice. It's all about the Classic Gun-altmode.
mp-36 is a gun as well. third party newage is stepping up and giving us a chug scale gun megatron unlike hasbro. its a shame we have so many idiots that do stupid stuff with toys that laws have to get made or toy companies change original figures. ss '86 megatron should not be a tank.
That Tank Megatron can be studio series devastation leader class Megatron.... But I'll never accept it as 86 and tank megs doesnt deserve that label at all.
G1 Megs *WAS, IS, AND FOREVER SHALL BE A GUN.* Contrary to what Hasbruh has to do for legal reasons. It's understandable, but it absolutely doesn't mean that G1 fans have to *LIKE IT*. I had G1 Megs as a kid, got him from a friend who didn't want him anymore. Wasn't my favorite G1 figure (I'd had Soundwave, Hot Rod, Blaster, & Thundercracker before Megs, and I had Powermaster Optimus Prime by the time I got him, so he wasn't dethroning THAT), but probably a solid fourth place (PMOP, Thundercracker, Hot Rod, Megs, & Devastator via Diaclone Construction Robo KO would be my top five). Nowadays, my Infinite Transformation MP36 KO is...probably a solid fourth place for now among Masterpiece stuff (Starsaber, Soundwave, MP49 Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime KO, Megs KO, Targetmaster Hot Rod). NewAge Agamenmnon is my go-to for Legends scale, lookin' forward to their Romulus (but not lookin' forward to the price on that thing...Greedy McBastards...). As for mainline...uhhh...yeah, nothing really. Siege Megs was okay, but it just doesn't hit that spark for me. (I didn't get it personally, but CW Megs seems to have been relatively widely praised...Hasbro needs to just downsize the molds for his parts to about Deluxe to make it SSGE Devastation Megs...)
I am gen Z and a quite liberal individual I have not heard of anyone being scared of G1 Megs' alt mode being a Walther P38. I can understand your confusion and complaints for SS86 Megs being a conventional tank mode from an executive standpoint makes sense IMO. Hasbro Mainline products are sold in stores and marketed towards children. In the 80s there were incidents involving kids getting killed by police because the G1 Megatron toy's alt mode is veerrrry similar to a real Walther P38 handgun. The purple and orange version at 11:29 was a pitch to Toys R Us by Hasbro and it was refused because it did not meet the standards of those gun laws that were made to actually protect. I'm moreso convinced that SS86 tank Megs is made so that way people can have a Megatron that scales and fits the aesthetic of SS86 Optimus and easier for consumers to find a figure for their Optimus. As for me who collects CHUG, I currently have the Siege Megatron as a placeholder until Newage Romulus releases. I would like to see a gun accessory for starscream packaged with SS86 Megatron however.
@@superroboted I mean I never heard anyone in the TF community being scared. There was definitely people in public terrified that it looked like a child was strapped
I would be fine if all of the gun accessories and megatons actual barrel was orange, I would not mind the figure having weird paint. 11:30 this is what I mean. If he is very good at articulation and accurate, I’m ok and will sacrifice paint.
I have the Encore version of Megatron and he comes with the sword and the red bullets!!! He is also the G1 chrome colored version!!!! Definitely love him as a gun and wouldn't have him any other way!!! G1 for life!!! Appreciate the walk down memory lane for our favorite OG Targetmaster!!!!
Hasbro may be genuinely worried that a tank SS86 Megatron might not sell well. So they could be contemplating whether to disguise a gun mode, make less product or other stuff.
I'm not from America. Was introduced to Transformers at age 7 going 8 when I visited Canada in 1985. All toy lines I really didn't care about but the Transformers. I only found why he was changed to a tank when I became an adult. For me there is only 1 Megatron, the original G1 until this day. Next seriously how many modern day people own a WP-38? Yeah in panic and fear it's a gun but imo modern guns aren't shaped like that so it's a shame he not being sold like original anymore.
I'd actually love to see something like a "Missing Link" G1 style Megatron toy that turns into an M1 Abrams Tank. Moreso it would be like what if Megatron was always a Tank. Also I heard a rumor there may be a retool of Legacy Deluxe Quake into a Deluxe G1 Toy colors Megatron that turns into a tank.
Here’s hoping 86 megs is a hover tank whose instructions tell you to make a hover tank. Then fans quickly discover his actual transformation is a gun and the tank is just a cover.
I loved G1 Megatron's gun mode. It was a very cool cartoon look. But I was not a fan of the "mass-shifting". You had a 20 foot 60 ton robot fold and shrink down into a gun even a human could use. And I think only the Cons had that technology. Seemed like an unfair advantage that should have won them the war.
Great video. Still waiting for the Newage voyager size megatron to the release. Will display him with my earthrise optimus prime because he's shorter than SS-86 optimus prime. Still will buy SS-86 megatron, yes he transforms to a tank i don't mind it, i consider him as a transformers devastation megatron. He shouldn't be in the ss86 line. He will never be 1986 movie accurate because of the wrong alt mode. Never.
I know I will being goind MP or KO for my SS86 megs, Hasbro ss megs will just be a huge pass for me, unless his robot mode is near 90% accurate with no treads, garbage kib, and backpack. Still rather just have a licensed exclusive non alt option. Pack him with a bunch of stuff, put a led in cannon to light up laser and blast effects.
The only 'gun-moded' Megatron I have is the RtS Legends figure. It's displayed right next to my computer as I type this comment. It's one of my top favourites. EDIT: I've never seen the original 1984/85 Megatron mold with my own eyes. I'd love to have an Encore/Takara reissue, but my country's gun laws are so strict that it would most likely get confiscated at the airport and destroyed if I try importing it.
G1 megatron was my first official Transformer that i got the day after Christmas in '84. It was sentimental to me as my dad got it for me while recovering in the hospital.
No one was forgotten. They are not part of the list. The only G1 Megatron that came out during the movie was the chronicle 2 pack which only had DoTM Megatron and G1 Megatron Takara only. Listening and reading is fundamental.
Even if hasbro gives us a better mold but its not a gun there is no point in calling SS86 because its not film accurate. Better to release it as legacy.
I grew up with G1. I was nine year's old when G1 released. I honestly never liked Meg's gun alt mode. I didnt particularly hate it, but I was never super fond of it. I definitely wasn't fond of Meg's robot mode. Many jokes were made at the expense of Meg's robot mode. I'm really not concerned with SS86 being a tank, so long as he is cartoon accurate. I would be very happy with a Transformers Devastation stylized Megs. I get the nostalgia for the gun alt mode (kinda), but we fortunately have 3rd parties for that if you really need to have the gun mode. Side note: The Skybound comic references the common criticism of Meg's gun mode in one of the latest issues. Megatron basically pleads with Starscream to wield him and says something along the lines of "You know my vulnerability. I need you to wield me." I thought that was pretty cool.
Didn't Hasbro already make the announcement that they'll never make the gun mode again and show the actual tank version already for the studio 86 version? I could've sworn I've seen that already.. I DEFINITELY wish they did the OG gun mode!! Hated the other versions!
@GeorgeRenda Maaaaaannnnn....that sucks. I've always wondered...If they made Megatron as the gun, but had him in the packaging in robot form, along with the outer packaging art only as him in robot mode, would that allow them to clear customs & sell within the US???
Uh oh, you poked the spoiled brat Gen Z'ers. Guns bad, guns bad! I proudly own several iterations of the true G1 Megatron. Is Megs MAGA? The World will never know.

NewAge Romulus when I get my hands on that baby.
