Excellent! Must feel so rewarding surfing your own board. Well done!
It really is! I way deeper experience than just surfing a shop board.

wow man you did a beautiful job..i watched your video and in the end when you said you havent ever surfed yet i was happy to see there is someone with same diy enthusiasm as me.I actually never surfed because where i live we have so rare waves when it is windy only.But i built myseld paulownia bodyboard then another one from fiberglass and now we bodyboard whenever we can.I am about to build a mini simmons cause you can use it as bodyboard also.I dont think ill be able to stand on it but who knows:)thanks man for sharing your knowledge.You have some serious skills!
That is great to hear. Keep it up. My next project will probably be a Alaia, have you seen those?
Blimey .... A fellow countryman ....
Your board is Beautiful man !!! Welgedaan !!!
Your narration was really done well. I also watched a lot of videos on this subject, however yours's is pretty much the only video that actually indicates how long it really takes to build your own surf board.
It is inspiring.
Enjoy, and i hope that she brings you a lot of surfing pleasure.
Cowabunga dude !!! 👌😎🍹

So cool man
top effort champ..your artwork makes it truly one of a kind.enjoy the waves.maybe get a bigger board to learn so you don't get deterred speaking as one that loves all forms of craft to catch waves.kudos
Brilliant friend…exactly what I needed to move on with my first. Cheers
Fantastic bro, insha'Allah I'll be building a wooden surfboard very soon
Lyk asof die board loop!! Dit lyk bakgat!! Is die surf footage in die kaap se area?
Amazing work my friend. Please let me Know What Kind the wood do you use
Thanks Christian, I used Cypress wood for this board. Ceder would be even lighter and better, but also more expensive where I am.
Wow what an amazing journey. I love that;
-you used minimal amount of tools
-build a surfboard without even being a surfer (yet)
-finished the project regardless of the setbacks and the amount of time it took to complete
Questions;
Can you build a wooden bodyboard?
Thanks Timo, I could build a wooden bodyboard, but generally, you want a bodyboard to be flexible and soft since you land on it with your body. Maybe if it was only used for mellow riding.
Man this is just incredible
Wow bro! I'm not a surfer or carpenter but if Jesus was here, He would do this!
Haha, not sure about that, he had more important work to do than catch waves.
Great work! Btw did you only use one hand planer?
Yes I did, I only have one.
Wow, amazing patience and dedication. That's a really beautiful board Erlo.
Thank you very much!

Thanks for checking in. My surfing has come a long way. Been surfing almost daily for more than a year now. Not on the wooden board but on a foam one I made.
