Every shot of Alec is just absolute perfection and accuracy cause he's just as full of angst as I originally imagined while reading City of Bones XD And Simon is just beautiful and hilarious I JUST CAN'T!
To me, I think the actress who played Clary was one of the weakest actresses. I am always thrown off whenever she has to deliver lines that are more emotional. But that might be because some lines are just so horrible. Also, I do agree with Natasha about hair being an important part, but for me it's mostly because of the color - it looks so fake I can't concentrate properly. And then the action is quite terrible.

Jenny Hernandez Yeah! In episode 1, Clary was confused and shocked but in episode 2 (literally the same day, and same moment but in a different episode) she was cool about it and explained it to Simon as if it was the most normal thing ever!
Simon, Valentine, Alec and Izzy were the best part of these two episodes. They were great but Simon definitely stole the show. I'm not too fond of Clary or Jace right now because they felt bland and stiff and the chemistry wasn't there yet but I'm excited to see how they grow and manage the show. Some scenes felt too rushed and I feel like Clary accepted Jace too quickly, I remember her being more reluctant but I guess they have to set up the Jace/Clary/Simon triangle.
I agree I didn't really like Izzy at first but then they said she doesn't know about the affair so I guess that makes much more sense. Simon was the best but mostly they're lines were really cheesy, that's the main thing and they were delivered wrong, the Jace - Clary chemistry was really really bad hopefully it'll get better, I still want a season 2 though :)

The first episode i don't know why everything was so rushed. They should have slowed it down so we could get to know everyone a little better. The second episode is better...but jeez some of the actors! The dude playing Luke is pretty shit, so is Clary's mum. But i wonder if the script is to blame, because so much had to happen in such a short amount of time. I wish Luke wasn't a cop, i don't think that change benefits the story. Izzy i hope we get to see her be more of a badass than walking around being hot because so far she hasn't done much, but jeez she seriously succeeds in walking around being hot because WOW. Girl is so damn beautiful, her and Alec totally look the part they are seriously gorgeous. I think the first season will suffer from poor acting but if they get a second it will improve...i hope. Because i can forgive a lot of shitty looking weapons, runes and CGI if the acting is good and so far it has been pretty subpar.
I don't mind Clary...i think shes fine. But i also don' think shes that hard of a character to royally fuck up. Jace I'm just meh about. As long as they don't fuck up my main ship (Malec) then i'll keep watching aha

I had way too high expectations. I wanted more than what the episodes gave off. I think I was so used to the movie cast that seeing these other actors just wasn't cutting it. To me the movie cast was way better except for Alec and Valentine. Plus the acting was just not good. Like it was good but needs improvement. I have so many mixed feelings about the show..

I guess the reason why they don't have a lot of chemistry is because at the end they think they're siblings and if they create that strong bond then people who haven't read the books will find it really wrong that these two people with this love dynamic are actually siblings
+Puppy Treat but that's the point! if they have a reaally good chemistry and the audience ships them, the shockvalue of the sibling-reveal will become so much stronger, thus making the show more exciting :) Idk, if you were in the fandom back then, but when it got revealed in the books, the entire fandom went crazy and it was amazing! and that was mostly because jace and clary had such an amazing romantic chemistry. If they didn't have that chemistry, we would have accepted the idea of them being siblings, and thats not fun :)
that's the point though surely? the unrequited love they feel for each other is literally the main idea of the first few books until they find out they aren't related, but if they don't care that they are brother and sister and therefore don't care that the love they feel for each other is wrong, there's no plot. If that makes sense.

I mean, I think Shadowhunters is pretty bad. But there's so much room for improvement for everyone involved: writers, actors, special effects, etc. Everything can be better, so I'm hoping it'll improve as the season progresses. There are so many successful shows for this demographic that started out incredibly rocky and grew to be a pretty impressive force on television (Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, etc.) so that's what I'm hoping for here.

My favorite part was when Izzy was talking to Simon outside the City of Bones and she was like 'lets listen to your music in the van' and Alec was like 'Are you seriousss?' and Simon was like 'You know i can hear you!' It just felt like that could be a real conversation that the characters had.
I liked the first 2 episodes, yes, they weren't great, but compared to the first 2 episodes of teen wolf it was nice the you have the sigh line literally killed me, the stupidest thing I've ever heard haha simon is my favourite character by far, he's lines are great, so is acting. he's just killing it. I'm sooo exited to see more magnus and malec chemistry. hope the show will get better
I think the red circles are from the clave since hodge has the line that it's "the claves insurance I won't speak about the circle" or something like that so that's why her mom doesn't have it because she is "dead" having left before the uprising was complete if I remember correctly. love your videos so much and was so excited to hear your thoughts after watching!! thank you for making them.

SIMON IS THE BEST PART OF THIS SHOW. HIS LINES KILLED!!! "Are you kidding, I was born afraid. And that sounded much better in my head." I loved the part. And The Wig. She put on the wig and just takes it off. Why was she wearing it if she was just going to take it off? Just Why? Alec is amazing. He is a goody two shoes. It did seem like Hodge liked Jocelyn. Also the Dumbledore thing YAS I LOVED HOW VALENTINE STILL LOVED JOCELYN. YOU COULD FEEL IT.. I personally loved Luke he was awesome.
i thought kat did a bad job as clary. i think the best portrayal was DEFINITELY alec; matt daddario is so talented (and beautiful). for the most part, emeraude is a perfect izzy, but sometimes she seemed like an airhead? book izzy is great at balancing vanity and intelligence. but, yeah, i had extremely low expectations but they were exceeded.
I really loved the first episode! (Haven't seen the second yet!) Sure, there were some changes, but I think they made sense to the story. I'm loving cop Luke! The actors fit the characters so well- I've never loved a cast so much! I'm so excited to see the show progress!
I have now seen the second episode- it was better by MILES! They nailed the look of the Silent Brothers and the City of Bones. There were some great Sizzy moments, as well as Valentine moments. I flipping LOVE Valentine! It just needs time to settle in, as all shows do. I need episode 3!
With Dom: I think he fits the look of Jace to almost exactly what I imagined but the speech did bother me quite a bit. I'm hoping it's because of the script or the accent where he's possibly more concerned with articulating correctly. I've noticed in the accent , even when they aren't filming, he speaks slower like he's focusing on his pronunciation. He meantioned that the cast isn't afraid to correct him so he may have been having issues. I hope that as he adjusts more to the character he gets a better feel for it. Izzy: I felt like she looked like the Izzy I envisioned but her personality was all up in people's business; in a perky way. Like she was in headbutting distance of Clary while she was sleeping. In the book she's more analyizing of Clary because Jace is so intrigued. In the show she's more happy about it than concerned which can work if they play it correctly. -Sorry for my rambling.-
The theme song says "this is the hunt" although it's kinda hard to hear it. I think I would've preferred the SHADOWHUNTERS SHADOWHUNTERS SHADOWHUNTERS better XD

One word to describe this series is CLICHE, the lines were cliche , the love triangles are already being set up as cliches like COME ON! I am really hoping the acting improves by alot and the plot is waaaaaaayyyyy too fast ... The only pro i can think of is Simon Alec and Valentine .... I really like Luke being a cop but it will only work if they play it right .. the lines and visual effects need alot of improvement but over all it has potential ...I give it a C for both episode 1 and 2

I really want to watch the show, But I'm only just getting to the books. So I was wondering how does the show correlate with the books? Is the first season based on city of bones and then the next city of ashes? Or should I just finish reading all the books and then watch it?
I wasn't as huge a fan of TMI books as some people, but I really enjoyed how fun they were as a whole. I didn't really expect the Shadowhunter show to be top notch, but I found the first two episodes to be entertaining at least. They were quick and fun so I think I'll continue watching them

okay, so my stepdad was the stunt coordinator, weapons designer and second unit director on season one, I read the scripts and saw all the episodes in their early development, so I am extremely biased. I met the whole cast (and watched them get aCTUAL pERMANENT rune tattoos lmao) and they are the most delightfully beautiful people, inside and out. I love this show so much. I did think the clace chemistry was a bit weird and rushed... but that's the writer's attempt to try and please clace hungry fans (that's what happens when you take too many suggestions to heart I guess). just wait for malec😍😍😍. all of the cast are extremely passionate about their character, and tried their hardest to please everybody. so did the people behind the scenes, who had to work with limited resources. I think everyone should give this show a chance. I'm so proud of the cast and crew, and I really hope they get a season two (cough also so I can take more selfies with Matt cough). so yeah... BYE.

Also the part seeing the Silent Brothers just made me think of COHF/Clockwork Princess and the whole Brother Zachariah plot line so I'm very excited to see if they go into other Shadowhunters plots!! The first episode i don't know why everything was so rushed. They should have slowed it down so we could get to know everyone a little better. The second episode is better...but jeez some of the actors! The dude playing Luke is pretty shit, so is Clary's mum. But i wonder if the script is to blame, because so much had to happen in such a short amount of time. I wish Luke wasn't a cop, i don't think that change benefits the story. Izzy i hope we get to see her be more of a badass than walking around being hot because so far she hasn't done much, but jeez she seriously succeeds in walking around being hot because WOW. Girl is so damn beautiful, her and Alec totally look the part they are seriously gorgeous. I think the first season will suffer from poor acting but if they get a second it will improve...i hope. Because i can forgive a lot of shitty looking weapons, runes and CGI if the acting is good and so far it has been pretty subpar.
I don't mind Clary...i think shes fine. But i also don' think shes that hard of a character to royally fuck up. Jace I'm just meh about. As long as they don't fuck up my main ship (Malec) then i'll keep watching aha

I had way too high expectations. I wanted more than what the episodes gave off. I think I was so used to the movie cast that seeing these other actors just wasn't cutting it. To me the movie cast was way better except for Alec and Valentine. Plus the acting was just not good. Like it was good but needs improvement. I have so many mixed feelings about the show..

I guess the reason why they don't have a lot of chemistry is because at the end they think they're siblings and if they create that strong bond then people who haven't read the books will find it really wrong that these two people with this love dynamic are actually siblings

If they didn't have that chemistry, we would have accepted the idea of them being siblings, and thats not fun :)

I mean, I think Shadowhunters is pretty bad. But there's so much room for improvement for everyone involved: writers, actors, special effects, etc. Everything can be better, so I'm hoping it'll improve as the season progresses. There are so many successful shows for this demographic that started out incredibly rocky and grew to be a pretty impressive force on television (Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, etc.) so that's what I'm hoping for here.

My favorite part was when Izzy was talking to Simon outside the City of Bones and she was like 'lets listen to your music in the van' and Alec was like 'Are you seriousss?' and Simon was like 'You know i can hear you!' It just felt like that could be a real conversation that the characters had.

i thought kat did a bad job as clary. i think the best portrayal was DEFINITELY alec; matt daddario is so talented (and beautiful). for the most part, emeraude is a perfect izzy, but sometimes she seemed like an airhead? book izzy is great at balancing vanity and intelligence. but, yeah, i had extremely low expectations but they were exceeded.
I really loved the first episode! (Haven't seen the second yet!) Sure, there were some changes, but I think they made sense to the story. I'm loving cop Luke! The actors fit the characters so well- I've never loved a cast so much! I'm so excited to see the show progress!
I have now seen the second episode- it was better by MILES! They nailed the look of the Silent Brothers and the City of Bones. There were some great Sizzy moments, as well as Valentine moments. I flipping LOVE Valentine! It just needs time to settle in, as all shows do. I need episode 3!
With Dom:
I think he fits the look of Jace to almost exactly what I imagined but the speech did bother me quite a bit. I'm hoping it's because of the script or the accent where he's possibly more concerned with articulating correctly. I've noticed in the accent , even when they aren't filming, he speaks slower like he's focusing on his pronunciation. He meantioned that the cast isn't afraid to correct him so he may have been having issues. I hope that as he adjusts more to the character he gets a better feel for it.
Izzy:
I felt like she looked like the Izzy I envisioned but her personality was all up in people's business; in a perky way. Like she was in headbutting distance of Clary while she was sleeping. In the book she's more analyizing of Clary because Jace is so intrigued. In the show she's more happy about it than concerned which can work if they play it correctly.

One word to describe this series is CLICHE, the lines were cliche , the love triangles are already being set up as cliches like COME ON! I am really hoping the acting improves by alot and the plot is waaaaaaayyyyy too fast ... The only pro i can think of is Simon Alec and Valentine .... I really like Luke being a cop but it will only work if they play it right .. the lines and visual effects need alot of improvement but over all it has potential ...I give it a C for both episode 1 and 2

I wasn't as huge a fan of TMI books as some people, but I really enjoyed how fun they were as a whole. I didn't really expect the Shadowhunter show to be top notch, but I found the first two episodes to be entertaining at least. They were quick and fun so I think I'll continue watching them

okay, so my stepdad was the stunt coordinator, weapons designer and second unit director on season one, I read the scripts and saw all the episodes in their early development, so I am extremely biased. I met the whole cast (and watched them get aCTUAL pERMANENT rune tattoos lmao) and they are the most delightfully beautiful people, inside and out. I love this show so much. I did think the clace chemistry was a bit weird and rushed... but that's the writer's attempt to try and please clace hungry fans (that's what happens when you take too many suggestions to heart I guess). just wait for malec😍😍😍. all of the cast are extremely passionate about their character, and tried their hardest to please everybody. so did the people behind the scenes, who had to work with limited resources. I think everyone should give this show a chance. I'm so proud of the cast and crew, and I really hope they get a season two (cough also so I can take more selfies with Matt cough). so yeah... BYE.
I already plan on NOT watching this series. I can't stand to see one of my favorite book series mutilated.
