@@misselijk721 nerfing one mining pet and revamping the entire mining system is very different.
As a top 100 miner, i believe that all the changes are great and needed. My only issue is with the OVER nerfing of bal, i would personally either change 1 of the 2 major perks. Either keeping the +15% and changing heat, or perferably, keep the immunity and change the pristine, you could even half the new cooldown perk to 10% reduction. i believe this would "nerf" bal while keeping it in a good postition to keep ruby mining viable. If this plays through though, i will be looking into mixed mining routes to navigate around the ruby nerfs
I think they could also make a mythic bal, with the "old perk" re-added

+15% is absolutely a no based on what admins said previously, they don't want anything at all to have +x% to all stats in any case ever

I think that this update has a lot of players worrying, but unless if your an ironman it’s not the worst update, however I’m still very surprised that they decided to nerf everything like this:
TLDR of mining update:
Gauntlet nerf loses out on about 1-2 ticks. About a 10% nerf if you were to mine ruby in mf with it changed.
Biggest nerf is bal pet; now no longer has heat immunity and although the +5 pristine is good, the +1.8 pristine and the 15% mining speed and mining fortune will be lost in exchange, and I can’t say that it’s enough of a positive as you are losing out on potentially multiple ticks (however the new ultimate enchant+buffs to equipment may make up for the lost ticks)
Overall the +1.1 net pristine you get from the update for magma fields gemstone mining is nothing in comparison to the 500 mining fortune you lose, and atm the max rates most people make is about 30m/hr. Now, it’s potentially only 20-25m/hr.
(as your pristine procs is dependant on your mining fortune, while pristine determines how much stuff you get when it procs)
(In regards to the lack of heat immunity it’s actually not that severe, just stop mining every 20-25 minutes and stop for 2-5 minutes or swap to heat armor and you can still use your route).
Most Ironmans players use this pet for ruby/gold mining so this is likely the worst change. If you wanted to get into mining before, now it’s likely you’d need a 2b+ setup to mine in the glacite tunnels to make 30m/hr again, and mining cannot be a good early-mid game money making method; and for iman… good luck. This basically means you have to farm in normal progression.
Mining speed boost has been changed so we can no longer instamine gold or obsidian. It is now significantly harder to get 1b gold collection (3-4x longer I’d estimate, instamine matters a lot)
Hotm tree has changed and now there’s not nearly as much mining fortune (-250mf) which can be as much as a 10-20% decrease to rates (at least if you were to interpret for magma fields gemstone mining).
Pristine enchantment has been halved in effectiveness BUT at hotm10 you gain one pristine. This is a net loss in about 1.5 pristine overall (which is a very significant amount, up to a 5-10% decrease in rates most likely)
Overall, mf gemstone mining is a lot worse now. The other methods that are damaged basis umber/tungsten, gold and obsidian (can no longer instamine). It is a nerf to peridot/aquamarine miners too, but the added mineshaft chances makes gt tunnels still profitable, just not as good as before. This isn’t so bad that mining is just complete garbage, but people saying ‘it doesn’t matter’, ‘this update is good’, ‘you haven’t seen some of the changes’ or ‘it needs more testing’ have never mined before so have 0 clue how bad the stats loss can be. Even if you think it doesn’t matter for you and your endgame, maxed gt tunnel setup, you’ll see how bad it may be.

I dont like these changes. I like all of the ideas, but with all the nerfs mining will barely/not at all be better then farming. Holding 2 buttons cant make the same amount of money as having perfect movement and actually grinding.

I was grinding to hotm 6 so i could get a gemstone gauntlet and progress, now it's worse than a pickonimbus
