However, this game was a battle of coach adjustments and assignments. I believe Billy D is a really introspective coach who sees things others coaches don't... Pop is not one of those coaches, hence al the adjustments done this game. This could very well be the smartes coaches in the league imo

      I think this is the game that will be looked at as the defining moment of Wemby’s career…. The Spurs vs the warriors shows how the team adjusted to small ball lineups… they figured out this strategy and have countered. The more recent video on the spurs shows how (both videos are great!). Wemby ain’t gonna wait till the offense is set and bang in the middle, he plays defense, follows the team up the court, forces the opposing big to contest his three or pay…. Thus opening the driving lanes for easy offense…. And yes, he will be driving with the rest of them. Perhaps not this season, but very soon it’s gonna be a top tier offense. CP3 is just so damn good!

    Great breakdown. I've watched every Wemby game in his NBA career and no team have ever attacked Wemby like that and I've never seen Wemby that frustrated. This was his lowest scoring and FG's. OKC is a great defensive team. The glaring issue is until Vassell comes back from injury, Wemby has no consistent shooters around him. I'm watching him 1 day after this game on a back-to-back and Wemby has 17 at the half. Yesterday was an eye opener. OKC shut him down fr.

    When I first saw Homlgren, I thought he was one of those random circus freaks you get in the NBA every now and then. I didn't think he could survive in the league with his toothpick frame, and when he missed his entire first season I thought I had been proven right.
    Then he finally started playing and I was flabbergasted by his mobility, motor and physicality. Chet is deceptively strong and balanced for his build, and he relishes playing hard on both ends. Turns out you really shouldn't judge a book by its appearance.
    As for Wenbanyama....he's ludicrously talented, but he's got a very languid style of play that sometimes becomes outright passive. Its early days yet, but I can't help but be concerned that being hailed as the 2nd coming so young has led to him becoming a bit complacent.

I saw Chet and thought "another shawn bradley et al" (not to punch a guy when he's down) and just like you I thought that first season was more proof of the same a la greg oden. but as I watched this kid his work ethic and toughness have amazed me. I watch people rake and claw at him mercilessly and instead of complaining all the time he just toughens up. I have so much respect for that and the progress he has made!!

    These triple teams gotta stop! 😭 There's a couple plays where Victor got quadruple teamed last season, this is getting ridiculous, he basically has to play off-ball most of the time because when he catches the ball or dribbles it he gets swormed. Of course he's got to adapt and he's done that, wracking up assists, but that's bullying sometimes.

      Chet was not on vacation. He was in the gym working hard everyday preparing for the NBA season. It's paying off. Victor ain't tired from the Olympics at 20 years old. Had himself a real nice game last night, too. Okc is just better than the Spurs. And that's fine. They're better than most teams in the league.

    SAS is still in brett brown mode. you enforce bball iq and reading defenses, by not implementing all kinds of intricate offensive schemes. yet
    I think 2 key trades next summer - and we will se a revamped offense. the spurs bench in hella smart, with pops leading the way
    and to be direct, so everyone gets it: this is the way (you develop young talent.) dont give them all the answers, lets them grow into it slowly. it will be painfull at times, but it is the only way we see if not 100 then 95 percent of wembys talent and potential actualized

    I was at that game and frankly this was just extremely poor coaching from Pop. He should have been posting VW up all game long as well as Sochan but they put them both consistently on the perimeter making it easy for OKC to defend. You're not going to beat the Thunder playing small ball and trying to run with them yet that's what these first four teams tried to do.

  • @Davivd2
    @Davivd2 Месяц назад

    If you're a foot taller than someone, have them posted up, the right read is NEVER to pass the ball. I don't care who is open. This guy hasn't been coached how to go to the basket. This guy camped out at the free throw line half of the year last year and Pop sat there just watching. Popovich has been phoning it in for a few years now. Wemby got punked last night. Instead of his coach telling him to play physical, or finding an action to get him the ball down low, he just pulled him out of the game. Wemby needs the Popovich that made Tony Parker cry. Instead he got the version of Popovich that makes Spurs fans cry. Narrative can only carry Wemby so far. At some point, he's going to need to develop his game to come anywhere close to meeting the hype.

    In all the years of watching Pops coach greatness,this is the worst coaching I ever seen him do. Basic fundamentals of coaching was to put Wemby on the block tell him to fight for position and demand the ball. Name one center in NBA History that's going allow a 6'3 player bully him out of the paint. It's embarrassing. It's time for Pops to stop coaching. He's lost it.

    If Chet had this kind of gameplan against him , he would be a bum. Wemby has every coach in the league trying this and it rarely works like in this instance. This really shows how much more of a game changer Wemby is than Chet. you have to make your whole gameplan to limit him. Chet is an afterthought from his teammates

      Chet is far from an “afterthought” with his teammates. That’s stupid when you look and see he is avg 23, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 blocks a game. That’s an absurd stat line.
