I was in high school when Zep hit the scene. As a huge Beatle fan, I like to say that Zep wiped the smiles off our faces and opened us to a whole new world. Even better, my parents hated them.
You both bring valuable insights to the music. La’s on point with his assessment of the break in the middle. Paige and Plant are echoing each other through the whole reprieve…and so are Bonz and JPJ… When you have an ear to dig the underbelly you recognize it…but if you’re in the moment just vibing…You’re losing your goddamn mind while everything you hold holy is blown to smithereens. 😔🤘 It’s a breath too…they give you what they started with throughout.
I love you guys! You get it. I was there when this all came out and society as a whole didn't get it! Zeppelin was before their time, and only a few fit into this category back then. My parents heard this, and my brother and sisters heard it, because I was locked into my room blaring this shit out. And they were worried about me. Haha! I still got into society and bonded within the work world with all of my radical tunes being dragged right along with me. It's a pleasure to hear you guys feeling this, how I listened to it over 55 years ago.

It blows me away that this was their first album. This song told the world what to expect: 4 Excellent band members, a single song covering blues, hard rock and psychedelic music. Each band member had their moment to shine. My favorite of theirs.

I can't decide if I like this song most, or How Many More Times the most (of all Zeppelin songs). It's soooo hard to chose. They're so powerful and unique and incredible on the BULK of almost every album... that's one of a kind On the same album. add... When this was released back in the day I chose this particular song as a theme for my slideshow presentation in high school. The teacher was absolutely floored and gave me an A+ thanks to Led Zeppelin!

What's crazy about that middle section is that there's a double call and response going on. Team 1: The bass and the drums, and Team 2: The vocals and the guitar.
Nice catch hearing the call and response between Jonesy & Bonzo as well as Plant & Page, not many hear it. Page is using a bow on his guitar during those weird noises, well worth watching a video of it for yourselves even if you don't do a reaction video.

Great reaction 😊 The Blues had such a huge influence on kids growing up in bombed out post WW2 Britain and they couldn't get enough of black American music, coming in through the ports and pirate radio, then brought them over on tours of the UK and Europe which gave many a real lease of life for the rest of their careers
Glad you caught that call and response between Plant and Page. You'll hear more of that as you move through the songs in their catalog. Some of the sounds you heard in the middle of the song was Page playing his guitar with a violin bow. These guys are the best of the best. We tried recording Babe I’m gonna leave you studio version but we had issues with the audio so we just moved on to the next song. But we love the studio version. So different than the live.
@@AirplayBeats Sorry you had the audio issues but glad you had a chance to listen to it. Live v. studio were often very different, which is why I personally think it's best for people new to Zeppelin to listen to the studio versions first anyway because Zepplein often liked to improvise during live performances, sometimes throwing in bits of other songs, or making stuff up on the spot going wherever any one of them felt like going at the time. They never performed a song the same way twice so if one isn't familiar with the actual song, one can't really appreciate just how creative they were even during a live performance. Anyway, thanks so much for thinking of mentioning the issues you had with the studio version of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Very thoughtful of you. :)
I have heard this song a lot. I was born in '62 so I have heard it a LOT. It still causes chills down my arms when I hear it. Every dang time. It is a wicked wicked great song.

Robert Plant & Jimmy Page were always doing "call and response" in many of their songs!! Please watch them live...there's nothing like it!🎵🎸 There are many songs from their 1973 concert at Madison Square-Garden, but "Since Ive Been Loving You" is them at their absolute best!!🎵 Robert Plant's stage presence and his-ability to just pull you in with his astounding vocals is-something you must see!! From the same concert Dazed And Confused, is amazing and they stretch it out for about 25 minutes...they were the masters of not only music, but of improv!! The entire concert was filmed and became a movie titled "The Song Remains-The Same" which is also a great song. Another live performance that is something to see is "In My Time Of Dying" at Earls-Court 1975🎸🎵 Also, they have a few really great acoustic songs including "Thats-The-Way" and "Going To California" live from Earls Court🎶

The first time I saw LZ play this song, it was amazing. When Jimmy Page started with the violin bow, they had green lasers coming down from the ceiling on top of him. The lasers started spinning slowly and then faster. Pretty soon it was this green haze surrounding JP while he was playing and it was surreal.

Ramble On, Nobody's Fault But Mine and Bring It On Home. Robert Plants harmonica and that blues sound can give a person chills. I have seen Plant 4 times, once with Page. Plant is like a fine wine, he only gets better with age. Just think how young he was when he recorded this. It’s amazing the talent the band had at such young ages.

This was Zep’s first album, released in 1969 (I was 14). I vividly remember listening to this record for the first time at a friend’s house. No other band at the time sounded like this. Shortly after I brought this album home, my dad bought me my first set of headphones. Go figure.
Jimmy is using a violin bow not a cello bow and Jimmy got the idea from actor David McCallum (he was in a few brilliant movies like The Great Escape and on the tv show NCIS) father who was a violinist and suggested to Jimmy that he should try it and that is how he got the idea and i also talked to Jimmy about it and he confirmed it but somehow people to this day keep saying it was a cello bow (which is shorter than a violin bow) and it wasn't, so just letting you know because i will probably get comments telling me iam wrong even though i confirmed it straight from the horses mouth but i will not repond because it goes nowhere 🙄...great reaction!

Great reaction, gentlemen! It's awesome to see that Led Zeppelin is still gaining a fan base 50 years later. Plant is STILL killing it with vocals, presently touring with Alison Krause (they won a Grammy together about 15 years ago). There are 2 monster songs that you must hear: "When the Levee Breaks" is a deep bluesy cover of a song written 2 generations ago, to commemorate the 1937 Mississippi Flood. It shows Plant's incredible harmonica skills, and Bonham performed the drum track in a stairwell for extra effect! The other is the live performance of "Kashmir" from Celebration Day...a reunion concert performed by a much older ( some would say, even better?) LZ and with Bonham's son Jason sitting in on drums and showing that his Dad's legacy continues. I subbed for Stevie Ray Vaughan...but am enjoying your Led Zeppelin reactions very much!
There's a lot of Zeppelin reactions out there and they are all fun to watch - but I just love the way you guys get into it and dissect the brilliance of each of the musicians and how they blend together to make a greater whole. Fantastic stuff gentlemen.
My friend and I went record shopping when this first came out . He bought this Led Zeppelin album and I got Jeff Beck's Truth . We holed up for about a month with my new KLH stereo and got our minds totally blown. You really owe it to yourselves to check out Jeff Beck . You guys really know good music when you hear it keep up the good work.
I have followed Jimmy Paige since the Yardbirds. Zepplin was his band and was originally named The New Yardbirds. He grew up a childhood prodigy on electric guitar and was a studio musician by the age of 16. Bands like the Beatles, Stones, and The Who would use him for a riff that no one else could play. John Paul Jones was also a studio musician who joined with Jimmy when he found out he was forming a band. Plant and Bonham were from further north and came in together. But...make no mistake, Paige being a master in the studio as well as one of the 3 best Rock guitarists of all time, was the straw that stirred the drink. I saw Zepplin live three times. No one can carry their jockstrap!

When I was a freshman in College, I drove to San Francisco to see Led Zepplin. The other acts were booed off the stage so the audience could get back to the second set and Jimmy Paige, the guitarist was so overwhelmed he would sit on a stool behind his amps and march out when his solos were required. It was epic, it was earth shattering the whole audience was dosed with LSD by whomever was putting the show on and I was 19 and somewhat impressionable. Everyone in that band was the baddest musicians I had ever seen and it changed my life forever. Instead of going to graduate school I opened up record stores and made my first fortune selling these dreams to hippies. The past

I’ve actually seen Page playing the bow on the guitar. That sound is crazy!!! We did the live from Madison Square but RUclips keeps blocking it.

Definitely have to see the live version of this. The MSG 1973 concert is an epic 30 minute intense experimentation. You'll get to see Page with the bow. A must see.

Was just cruising on down and saw you had reacted to this song many moons. THANK YOU for giving it the recognition it so deserves. This song is a masterpiece and one of my top 4 songs by them. Ramble On, Nobody's Fault But Mine and Bring It On Home. Robert Plants harmonica and that blues sound can give a person chills. Not to take anything away from John Bonham, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones. They're in a league all their own. ❤

I have seen Plant 4 times, once with Page.
Plant is like a fine wine, he only gets better with age. Just think how young he was when he recorded this. It’s amazing the talent the band had at such young ages.

You gentlemen have broken it down nicely. They are arguably the best band ever. It isn't even close for me at least in this category. Top Shelf for me hands down. These musicians are at the top of their game at such an early age.
This was Zep’s first album, released in 1969 (I was 14).
I vividly remember listening to this record for the first time at a friend’s house.
No other band at the time sounded like this.
Shortly after I brought this album home, my dad bought me my first set of headphones.
Go figure.
Jimmy is using a violin bow not a cello bow and Jimmy got the idea from actor David McCallum (he was in a few brilliant movies like The Great Escape and on the tv show NCIS) father who was a violinist and suggested to Jimmy that he should try it and that is how he got the idea and i also talked to Jimmy about it and he confirmed it but somehow people to this day keep saying it was a cello bow (which is shorter than a violin bow) and it wasn't, so just letting you know because i will probably get comments telling me iam wrong even though i confirmed it straight from the horses mouth but i will not repond because it goes nowhere 🙄...great reaction!

Great reaction, gentlemen! It's awesome to see that Led Zeppelin is still gaining a fan base 50 years later. Plant is STILL killing it with vocals, presently touring with Alison Krause (they won a Grammy together about 15 years ago). There are 2 monster songs that you must hear: "When the Levee Breaks" is a deep bluesy cover of a song written 2 generations ago, to commemorate the 1937 Mississippi Flood. It shows Plant's incredible harmonica skills, and Bonham performed the drum track in a stairwell for extra effect! The other is the live performance of "Kashmir" from Celebration Day...a reunion concert performed by a much older ( some would say, even better?) LZ and with Bonham's son Jason sitting in on drums and showing that his Dad's legacy continues. I subbed for Stevie Ray Vaughan...but am enjoying your Led Zeppelin reactions very much!

Jimmy Page was a session guitarist in London in the early-mid 60s - always in demand.
My friend and I went record shopping when this first came out . He bought this Led Zeppelin album and I got Jeff Beck's Truth . We holed up for about
a month with my new KLH stereo and got our minds totally blown.
You really owe it to yourselves to check out Jeff Beck .

I have followed Jimmy Paige since the Yardbirds. Zepplin was his band and was originally named The New Yardbirds. He grew up a childhood prodigy on electric guitar and was a studio musician by the age of 16. Bands like the Beatles, Stones, and The Who would use him for a riff that no one else could play. John Paul Jones was also a studio musician who joined with Jimmy when he found out he was forming a band. Plant and Bonham were from further north and came in together. But...make no mistake, Paige being a master in the studio as well as one of the 3 best Rock guitarists of all time, was the straw that stirred the drink. I saw Zepplin live three times. No one can carry their jockstrap!
They were a huge a American blues lovers!

Please give another listen and focus on the drums… so hard, so loud, so fast and the super sonic tempo comes in at the end of the fast section… it’s glorious. 🤘🏽

One of the things I think draws so many to Zeppelin is they have an uncanny ability to pump the emotion of the song out in such a visceral way.
I grew up on Led Zep. This is one of their best. I love y'all's take on this. Speaking as a man, married for some 40 years, the lyrics are so true. You know, every rose has its thorns....

When I was a freshman in College, I drove to San Francisco to see Led Zepplin. The other acts were booed off the stage so the audience could get back to the second set and Jimmy Paige, the guitarist was so overwhelmed he would sit on a stool behind his amps and march out when his solos were required. It was epic, it was earth shattering the whole audience was dosed with LSD by whomever was putting the show on and I was 19 and somewhat impressionable. Everyone in that band was the baddest musicians I had ever seen and it changed my life forever. Instead of going to graduate school I opened up record stores and made my first fortune selling these dreams to hippies. The past
