Best Zeppelin reactions on YT I believe. I really enjoyed the analysis of all the LZ reactions on this channel. TSRTS version of Dazed and Confused is pretty long but really worth it if you guys have the time. Like great Jazz improv artists they would build on songs like jazz musicians used standards to improvise over and no two performances were ever same. Thanks for these reactions....even though I've head these songs hundreds of times I'm learning and discovering new things about theses songs thanks to your reactions. Please keep up the good work.

I watched a couple live performances of Dazed and confused last night and none of them are the same. I love how they just improvise and rock out.
Yep Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd both monster UK bands both heavily influenced by the great legends of Blues. Definitely Led Zep more obvious, but Pink Floyd definitely mixed up Blues and Jazz to produce their own unique sound.

I was in high school when Zep hit the scene. As a huge Beatle fan, I like to say that Zep wiped the smiles off our faces and opened us to a whole new world. Even better, my parents hated them.

I saw Led Zeppelin in concert in 1969 and 1970 and they did this song each time. They were electrifying in person.

When this was released back in the day I chose this particular song as a theme for my slideshow presentation in high school. The teacher was absolutely floored and gave me an A+ thanks to Led Zeppelin!
In Jr High I read Edgar Allan Poe's The Bells to a song from the first Black Sabbath album. The song the starts with all the bells chiming and gets real deep.

Glad you caught that call and response between Plant and Page. You'll hear more of that as you move through the songs in their catalog. Some of the sounds you heard in the middle of the song was Page playing his guitar with a violin bow. These guys are the best of the best. One never knew what to expect on a first listen of any of their songs, and every song is like a magical music ride. Thanks for another great reaction.
We tried recording Babe I’m gonna leave you studio version but we had issues with the audio so we just moved on to the next song. But we love the studio version. So different than the live.
@@AirplayBeats Sorry you had the audio issues but glad you had a chance to listen to it. Live v. studio were often very different, which is why I personally think it's best for people new to Zeppelin to listen to the studio versions first anyway because Zepplein often liked to improvise during live performances, sometimes throwing in bits of other songs, or making stuff up on the spot going wherever any one of them felt like going at the time. They never performed a song the same way twice so if one isn't familiar with the actual song, one can't really appreciate just how creative they were even during a live performance.
Anyway, thanks so much for thinking of mentioning the issues you had with the studio version of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Very thoughtful of you. :)

It blows me away that this was their first album. This song told the world what to expect: 4 Excellent band members, a single song covering blues, hard rock and psychedelic music. Each band member had their moment to shine. My favorite of theirs.
You’ve got Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Prince and so many more but Jimmy Page will always have my vote for the GOAT. If you watch this live, be prepared for when he starts playing the guitar with a violin bow!

It wasn't a violin bow, that would never have held up especially with Page's playing. If I'm not mistaken it was a Chelo bow. Amazing nonetheless. :)
Nice catch hearing the call and response between Jonesy & Bonzo as well as Plant & Page, not many hear it. Page is using a bow on his guitar during those weird noises, well worth watching a video of it for yourselves even if you don't do a reaction video.

Great reaction 😊 The Blues had such a huge influence on kids growing up in bombed out post WW2 Britain and they couldn't get enough of black American music, coming in through the ports and pirate radio, then brought them over on tours of the UK and Europe which gave many a real lease of life for the rest of their careers

Robert Plant & Jimmy Page were always doing "call and response" in many of their songs!! Please watch them live...there's nothing like it!🎵🎸 There are many songs from their 1973 concert at Madison Square-Garden, but "Since Ive Been Loving You" is them at their absolute best!!🎵 Robert Plant's stage presence and his-ability to just pull you in with his astounding vocals is-something you must see!! From the same concert Dazed And Confused, is amazing and they stretch it out for about 25 minutes...they were the masters of not only music, but of improv!! The entire concert was filmed and became a movie titled "The Song Remains-The Same" which is also a great song. Another live performance that is something to see is "In My Time Of Dying" at Earls-Court 1975🎸🎵 Also, they have a few really great acoustic songs including "Thats-The-Way" and "Going To California" live from Earls Court🎶

This was Zep’s first album, released in 1969 (I was 14).
I vividly remember listening to this record for the first time at a friend’s house.
No other band at the time sounded like this.
Shortly after I brought this album home, my dad bought me my first set of headphones.
Go figure.
I can't decide if I like this song most, or How Many More Times the most (of all Zeppelin songs). It's soooo hard to chose. They're so powerful and unique and incredible on the BULK of almost every album... that's one of a kind

Jimmy is using a violin bow not a cello bow and Jimmy got the idea from actor David McCallum (he was in a few brilliant movies like The Great Escape and on the tv show NCIS) father who was a violinist and suggested to Jimmy that he should try it and that is how he got the idea and i also talked to Jimmy about it and he confirmed it but somehow people to this day keep saying it was a cello bow (which is shorter than a violin bow) and it wasn't, so just letting you know because i will probably get comments telling me iam wrong even though i confirmed it straight from the horses mouth but i will not repond because it goes nowhere 🙄...great reaction!
The first time I saw LZ play this song, it was amazing. When Jimmy Page started with the violin bow, they had green lasers coming down from the ceiling on top of him. The lasers started spinning slowly and then faster. Pretty soon it was this green haze surrounding JP while he was playing and it was surreal.

I have heard this song a lot. I was born in '62 so I have heard it a LOT. It still causes chills down my arms when I hear it. Every dang time. It is a wicked wicked great song.
Love your video's guy's, especially Zeppelin my favorite band. Jimmy Page uses a violin bow in the middle of the song to get those erie sounds, you should check it out live absolutely awesome. Actually, anything Live from Madison Square Garden 1973 is a huge hit!! Led Zeppelin was part of what was considered the British invasion. Most of all the biggest bands came from there. I Hope you consider doing something Live from Madison square Garden, you'll see them in action at the average age of 24
I’ve actually seen Page playing the bow on the guitar. That sound is crazy!!! We did the live from Madison Square but RUclips keeps blocking it.

Page was performing his version of this song with the Yardbirds, before forming Led Zeppelin. In 1967, while touring with the Yardbirds, Page saw Jake Holmes perform the song in New York. On the first Led Zeppelin album, the band's version was credited solely to Jimmy Page. A 2010 lawsuit appears to have been settled out of court, the case being dismissed and Holmes being added to the songwriting credit. It now reads "by Jimmy Page, inspired by Jake Holmes." A number of songs by Led Zeppelin were "inspired" by other original songwriters. Shows you expensive lawyers can get you out of a lot of legal scrapes. LOL.

Absolutely there is no original music , it's just recycled , the classical masters now that was some original music and even they took from one another. Music is meant to be shared that way, what makes it original is the artist !!!

Great reaction, gentlemen! It's awesome to see that Led Zeppelin is still gaining a fan base 50 years later. Plant is STILL killing it with vocals, presently touring with Alison Krause (they won a Grammy together about 15 years ago). There are 2 monster songs that you must hear: "When the Levee Breaks" is a deep bluesy cover of a song written 2 generations ago, to commemorate the 1937 Mississippi Flood. It shows Plant's incredible harmonica skills, and Bonham performed the drum track in a stairwell for extra effect! The other is the live performance of "Kashmir" from Celebration Day...a reunion concert performed by a much older ( some would say, even better?) LZ and with Bonham's son Jason sitting in on drums and showing that his Dad's legacy continues. I subbed for Stevie Ray Vaughan...but am enjoying your Led Zeppelin reactions very much!

Bought it new in '68 and still listening..
John Paul Jones is one of the most underrated musicians out there. He did the majority of the instruments in these songs.
At the beginning, the "flute" sound was JPJ playing three instruments called recorders, each in a different key.
Another great reaction, picture this - the drummer is 20 yrs old and the singer turned 20 - a little over five weeks prior to this being recorded.

Jimmy was inspired by Eddie Phillips of the British group The Creation doing it first on "Making Time," a single released in 1966 on Shel Talmy's Planet label (Talmy was The Who's manager as well).
I grew up on Led Zep. This is one of their best. I love y'all's take on this. Speaking as a man, married for some 40 years, the lyrics are so true. You know, every rose has its thorns....

Another one of THE greatest songs ever made and it's again by Led Zeppelin. You guys should check out the movie and watch them live. Great way to kill two birds at once. So much history surrounds this band. BTW - at some point later when you've heard more OG studio tracks then you can listen to the stuff Page and Plant put out when they toured together and released 5 Led Zeppelin songs that they re-interpret with a more middle eastern vibe adding the Egyptian Pharaoh's band and Santa Monica city orchestra!!! I suggest doing the Irvine Meadows show and start at 1:52:25 for the encore KASHMIR which is another of the GREATEST SONGS EVER MADE!!! Obviously no John Bonham (RIP GOAT) and no JPJ but they got some real pro's filling in trust me! You should hear the studio version first so you recognize the differences.

a month with my new KLH stereo and got our minds totally blown.

I'd love to see you guys bounce around, and hear some other artists in your mix. If the youth here impresses you, know that as a teenager, Steve Winwood was backing famous bluesmen when they toured the UK. He was in The Spencer Davis group at age 14. I recommend you hear some hits from the group Traffic, which he was in next. "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" and "Mr. Fantasy" are bound to impress you, maybe as much as a lot of Steely Dan's music. Winwood plays several instruments well, including drums, mandolin, guitar, bass, and saxophone. Check out his piano & organ playing on Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. These songs are brilliant.

Being a teen in the 60s into the 70s was great.
There's a lot of Zeppelin reactions out there and they are all fun to watch - but I just love the way you guys get into it and dissect the brilliance of each of the musicians and how they blend together to make a greater whole. Fantastic stuff gentlemen.
We use to listen to these albums on 8 tracks in our Chevys. No surround sound. And we still got blown away.

We grew up with their movie THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME, then HOW THE WEST WAS WON was released about 20 years ago, it's amazing.
Dudes all the best rock comes from the UK with a few exceptions, Hendrix, Doors, AC/DC, and others of course but Zeppelin, Sabbath, Floyd, The Who, Maiden, Def Leppard, Whitenake, Deep Purple, etc etc etc all UK. The funny thing is many didn’t make it big until they went to the US. Zeppelin were one of those bands. You guys really appreciated them. Good job by the way 🙏
I'm certain that in the comments posted when this video reaction was made someone mentioned it, but if not .. 'that sound' you mentioned was Jimmy Page using a violin bow, though some claim it was a cello bow, to play his guitar. He used a bow in several songs, "Dazed and Confused" "How Many More Times" and "In the Evening." He said he used warped rejects to keep the cost down. He bought them by the boxfull from suppliers, because they couldn't sell them, and he didn't need an articulate, high quality bow for what he was using it for. Using a bow while a member of Led Zeppelin wasn't the first time he used a bow. In 1967 as a member of the Yardbirds he performed "I'm Confused," which would emerge two years later as Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused."
Most rock bands from the 60's and 70's (English or American) have all stated in interviews that Blues was a major influence in their young lives. You'll hear it in a LOT of the music of those glorious eras.

Greetings from Hamburg, Germany! :-D About that instrumental part in Dazed and Confused where Page's guitar sounds like "on acid, like a scary movie" - Page was playing his guitar with a (Cello?) bow and making weird sounds with it! The push in sound effect and recording tech back in the 60s and the late '60s drug culture brought on Psychedellic music, and so voilà, Led Zep did that, too, masterfully. Really appreciate how you guys are actually listening to the different instruments, esp. the drums; Bonzo is a monster! I've read that he was inspired by James Brown, which I TOTALLY hear and FEEL in Bonzo's drumming and Led Zeppelin's play! Been vibing with this music since I was 16 and I'm 52 now and still feeling this music deep deep, it's just so great. I'd love to see you guys listen to "When The Levy Breaks" - the drum track a classic! Its sample was heavily used by a whole bunch of Hip Hop artists. I def recommend listening to the studio versions first, please do Babe, I'm Gonna Leave you" again, so much better on original version. Misty Mountain Hop, When The Levee Breaks, Ramble On, Immigrant Song, Your Time is Gonna Come, Communication Breakdown, Stairway to Heaven, etc. It' an anwesome repertoire. Last thing: Try to avoid the generic "Led Zeppelin track with hectic video visuals" on YT; wit LZ music I reckon it's really vital to focus on the sonic experience. Enjoy!
