Still thrilling after all these years. Glorious. The performance of a lifetime from one of the greatest class acts of all time -- Paul Wiley.

My favorite male skater of all time, and Michelle Kwan favorite female
skater. The glory days of ice skating. Artistry always came first.🙆‍♂️

    The most expressive skater ever!

Indeed! When it came to great choices of music and great choreography given to a marvelously artistic and expressive skater, it was a match made in Heaven for Wylie to have Mary Scotvold as one of his coaches. She was brilliant at finding and editing the music and choreographing, and she knew what suited Paul. He was my favorite skater for years even before Albertville, even though I only saw him on TV once per year at Nationals. I particularly love the music he used at Albertville. (I felt rather sorry for Barna having to skate after Paul in the long program, because while Paul's program was gorgeous, inspiring, uplifting, and ended on a high, Barna's program was fairy heavy and dark. I was rooting for Paul, but I did feel a bit sorry for Barna having to skate next.)

I am glad I found this upload. The main ABC broadcast was annoying with the constant commentary of Scott Hamilton...

I love Scott Hamilton anyway, and he was a HUGE fan of Paul Wylie. I'm not sure whether it was right before Wylie's short program at Albertville or his long program, but Scotty stuck his head out of the broadcasting booth and shouted, "YOU CAN DO IT!" Scotty really, really, really wanted Wylie to win!

I actually like this secondary broadcast better than the ABC first team. Was just way too much commentary blather from one of the first team commentators. Won't bother mentioning him. It's obvious when you hear it.

What you have to remember though is that the commentator you’re taking about (Scott Hamilton) was one of Wylie’s best friends, and he was just going crazy with joy cheering for his friend while still having to be somewhat professional at the same time, so it was a delicate balance and I personally think it adds a real human element to it to hear the broadcaster still doing his job while not pretending to be fully detached from the result or not in any way invested in the result.

Hamilton's comment about Wylie as a controversial choice was rude and unnecessary!

@@sgsmozart Actually, it was a criticism of the people who had questioned whether Wylie belonged on our Albertville team. They were the ones who thought Wylie's presence on the team was "controversial." Scotty would never say anything rude about Wylie. In fact, right before Wylie began his short or long program (I forget which, but I think it's this one), Scotty stuck his head out of the broadcasting booth and shouted at dragon volume, "YOU CAN DO IT!"

Such a beautiful and inspiring program. And skated at his last amateur event.

I think he should of gotten 6'0 on his great artistry. The judge that gave him a 5'4 for presentation obviously wanted to leave room for Barna to get a medal.

He was so robbed. Paul should have won the gold not Viktor. It was a case of what's in the name. Viktor may have been good, but Paul was that much better. Yes he made some minor mistakes, but he out skated Viktor, but wasn't rewarded for the job he did.

I'm sorry, but Paul overall was better than Victor. Paul should be the gold Medalist. The politics of Figure Skating smh
