Pneumatic 4 Wheel Independent Suspension

  • This was the prototype drive-train for our 2016 FRC competition bot. The robot has two distinct drive mode. When the 4 pneumatic swing arms are actuated, the outer tires make contact with the ground, lifting the robot up to give it greater ground clearance and independent suspension. When the outer wheels are retracted, the bot rests on 4 mecanum wheels giving it the ability to move sideways.

    No joke, my jaw dropped when I saw this. Probably the best-designed drivetrain to come out of stronghold

    do you call this as a suspension ? cant see any 'suspensing'.

      its probably a system similar to that of a hydraulic suspension, similar to those on low riding vehicles.
