  • The three knots I wish somebody showed me when I started fly fishing! So easy to do, with or without forceps! Work smarter, not harder!

      yeah, I struggled with the surgeon knot many years, and now its such a piece of cake I dont mind fixing the leader to match the size of the flies...so I actually fish much better, just becouse of this simple method :) 10 minutes of practice and you never go back :)

    Ive struggled with the surgeon knot. Well, before now that is. Ill have to try this. Im left handed, and for some reason, knot tying is a challenge with every video. The hemostat is brilliant. Would have never thought.

      Its SO much easier...and since its easy, I tend to change tippet and adapt the length of the leader to make the fly move better and , that gives me fish!! :) All the best! //Ken

    Thank you for this video. My eyes aren't what they used to be and so I've been looking at knot tying tools of all sorts to help make tying fishing knots easier. I never thought of using forceps to aid in the tying. Thanks so much and thumbs up to you!

      Tnx mate :) Its a real life saver :) so quick and easy :) I been doing this for at least 15 years and Its not saving just the hustle and time, I catch more fish since I dont drag out with changing tippet So the leader is perfect for the fly at all time :)

    I use this for bobber fishing and use it as a stopper knot, so the bobber can hang low with the leader to cast better, when it is in the water the bait and weight sinks causing the line to slip through the bobber and stop on it. Makes you able to fish at a depth of let's say 12ft meters, while using a 7 ft rod. 👍

    OK, this was an awesome tutorial. I have been tying these knots for years, but I had never considered using forceps to tie them out.
    I did some dry runs and all three knots are both faster, cleaner and more efficient. Better knots while helping to get me out faster on the water.

    First time I saw anyone tie knots with a hemostat was in an emergency room, this when I was in college in the '60s. While building the body of a bass guitar, my friend had cut his hand with a gouge. The ER doc made 20 perfect stitches with black silk in about two minutes using a hemostat. I nearly passed out while my friend watched-never forgot. The hemostat - way to go.

      So glad I could help out! :) It makes my fly fishing SO easy...and better! I am a lazy bum by nature and before I struggled with my knots...and of course didnt extend and perfect the length and tippetsize on my leaders... Now it is so easy to adapt the perfect tippet size and length...so in the end I now catch more fish! :D

      Hi Ken, I worked that loop knot out. I tie the fly onto the dropper line first of all using your second knot (it works perfectly as a loop knot obviously) and then I use the same knot to attach the dropper to the main leader line. Many Thanks Joe 👍

    Needle knot/leader knot is the same as a nail knot in my book.

      Absolutely, many names, same knot :) Its easy and practical to use :) Some use a needle, som use a nail..me?....I use my pliers or fingers :) We sell a special "knot tool" But I consider it just a waste of money :D

I wish I learned that myself when I started back in the dark ages ;-) It was actually a veterinarian that showed me how they use the forceps to lengthen the tread when doing surgery! So I Just applied it to tie my leaders After that it was no brainer to figure out how to do the same thing with the cinch tie knot :) Glad you liked it!

      I never use FC in my rigs, mono is just as good (and better for the enviroment) so why bother? :) Best of luck!

      Anglers for sport and includes females Fishermen is for food and does not include females who should be cooking the catch while doing housework and not entering up like Ms Heard as they should preferably be seen only.

      @@christophercook723 Well, to be honest, In our fly fishing community we try hard to include all genders, religions, sizes and races..we all love to fish...I fish exclusively with flies, and I make my living of designing fly fishing products, so that is the reason i Use the term fly fisher of course :) Anglers might love to use these three knots as well, you got a good point there.
