I use the regular clinch knot and the double surgeons knot, and that’s it. I’m so glad he’s shedding light on the simple knots and not glorifying knowing 8 hard-to-use knots. There’s no point. The basics work fine for what I’m fishing for.
If your gonna attempt a double surgeons knot for tippet, go easy on the booze the night before. Shaking hands in the morning make it damn near impossible, hahaha. No Uni Knot Ben? That's my go to.
Interesting choice for #3; I use the back to back uni-knot for larger lines in lieu of the blood knot. The BtBUK is also forgiving when adding lines that aren't a size apart (in my experience), since both are pulling into each other. Peace.
ha, i tie blood knots down to 6.5 x --- now that's huge... also just listened to your call in to the Tailer Trash Podcast , so I'm going to start jumping on early Monday mornings to review your video...
Dear huge, Pardon poor English You Allow me to start fly fishing. I prefer use streamers. PS: Why is your huge? 3 meters? PPS: what fly go to carp? Sincerely, The Bron Curry (Much love from Uzbekistan 🇺🇿)
Good information on knots. I use these three plus a loop knot for tapered leader to fly line. It’s small and the tag end can be trimmed close so it doesn’t catch in the guides. A shot of UV resin makes it even slicker.
I use the same 3 daily, and a few different ones on arbor, backing and leader attachment areas..after learning dozens. You’re a Huge help in the world of Flyfishing. Really appreciated..Thank you! Been slamming some Huge largemouths here lately. If you’re ever in central Texas, give us a holler! Have a great week Ben! 🍻🎣
Couple of real good choices there I've become quite partial to the double uni now myself it's been working very well for me for attaching different lines
Very minuscule in a very huge way. I suck and tie all these knots much more lately. I switched to a 9 foot rod from a 7.5 and have found every f’n tree branch on the creek.
the reason why ben is doing a knot video instead of a fishing video is because he didn't catch anything fishing because he wasn't wearing his lucky fishing hat
It would behoove everybody here to ditch the clinch knot. Your next trophy trout with depend on it, ask me how I know. Personally I want my knot as close to breaking strength as my line rating. The three I now actually trust are: Orvis Knot, Trip/Dbl Surgeon, and for a loop knot the Non Slip Mono Loop. For the swinging fly guys, a Turl Knot is your friend. Yes a loop knot provides more action at the cost of less feel, I usually only use it on strip or jig streamer actions.
Nope, clinch knot works just fine…same with improved for smaller diameter and/or fluoro. I catch hundreds of fish every year, have maybe 3-5 knot failures per year and they’re my fault nearly 100% of the time. There’s no need to complicate your life with this and that…I like having slightly under breaking strength in my knots…makes life a lot less painful when you get hopelessly snagged on some piece of debris in the current.
@@manifestgtr sure maybe smaller diameter and fish. I target sizeable trout in the 4-6lb range, steelhead and salmon 10+. I don’t get a chance to fish smaller stuff so maybe it works then but nobody up here uses that knot lol
Used an improved clinch knot for 40 years until I had to use a uniknot for braided line. Now it's alI I use. Also, if you insist on using a blood knot, here's the way to do it... ruclips.net/video/KOZum2373iw/видео.html

Hangovers are the only reason I use the duble stergeon...
The most important lesson in this video "There are no rules in flyfishing"
Bamboo bros hate him!

Same here. Although I use it mainly because I find it easier to tie.

Happy Huge Day, everybody. Have Huge one.

Thanks on the double surgeon
That way of tying the blood knot is the best and so easy.
This video was so huge. Thanks, Ben!
I prefer double uni knots for tying two lines together. Works for tarpon, I haven't seen any slippage yet on trout leaders

Where has the toothpick trick been all my life? Thanks for Sharing!!
Not gonna lie, really liked the "more action" shot from Last Action Hero....classic!!!
Your video quality is top notch love it
Cheers to more beers, love my Monday mornings..
I'm shocked the Orvis knot doesn't make your top 3.
Agree, Orvis knot has many advantages.
Cheers on the video!
Am I missing the link to the “blood knot toothpick” video?
As always, great content! 🤙🏼
Great knots but you need some better beer, LOL
Life is too short to drink cheap beer.
I'm mad I learned a blood knot before I learned about a double surgeon knot. I'll never get all that time back
Not gonna lie, I enjoyed this knot video even though you are not fishing in it.
Money. Thank you Mr. Huge.
One important question.. At what point did you switch from Miller Lite to Coors Light? And why??
How about a Lefty Kreh knot? : D
Much better camera
The perfection loop would be huge, easy and good.
But you wouldn't use it everyday ;)
@@claytonballerine2280 Sure you would, it's how you attach a fly with a loop.
Hey Ben! Were you in Rocky Mountain NP in the last few days?
how come you don't use a blood knot for the thinner sections as well?
Rather than tapering down you leader with a double sergeons know you can use a tippet ring...
Where do you keep beers on the river, everything needs to be attached to your person in fly fishing so need a beer rig
Get yourself a chalk bag, my friend!
the reason why ben is doing a knot video instead of a fishing video is because he didn't catch anything fishing because he wasn't wearing his lucky fishing hat
get onto the davy and improved davy knot
You didn't stretch it out to 8 minutes and no beer time?
You’d only need one knot if you used a tippet ring and the difference in diameter wouldn’t become and issue. Just saying…. :-)
hello, we have some fishing products and we want to cooperate with you. How can we contact you?

Nail knots are the best knots for triggering violently antisocial behavior 🍻.
