I thought this segment went smoothly. I don't understand why people get so sensitive when Andy asks his guests loaded questions. Some of them want to share. If they don't want to answer, they don't have to.

No one else will say it so I will. I don't see Barbara Walters as mean, I see her as tough. She got her first job in the male dominated news broadcasting industry in the 1950s. That woman has seen a lot. She created the view, I feel that's why she always held such a high standard for other hosts. That being said she probably should've left after one decade not two.
EXACTLY! Everyone takes it for granted now seeing a woman hosting or co-hosting. Barbara was the first. She took it seriously because she knew the cost & how hard it was.

It's soooo good.
The bits about The View are juicy (but the best bits have already been covered ad nausea by the media and you'll probably already know them - there isn't really anything more juicy in it than we already know). I felt he spent way too long on Barbara's childhood and home life and early career and also on the network issues rather than on the View and the ladies themselves. But I understand it was all for context. It's still an enjoyable read.

This question has many answers that stem from colonization, the history of blacks and slavery in America, the loss of ones culture, the emotional and mental impacts of it, and just trying to survive in a culture that supports conformity and European views of beauty, not to mention fashion,style, and just wanting to wear their hair or "hair" anyway they want to without it being such a conversation. African American women and the topic of their natural hair whether worn or not is just another example of the lack of understanding within our society still today.
