There is an error in this video. Once the train achieves the speed of 130 kms/hr, the loco pilot will pull the clip to neutral or zero notch and subsequently the accelaration sound gets silent as if he continues to accelerate after 130 kms/hr then the speed goes beyond 130 kms/hr and immediately the AWS warning bell will begin to ring which is close to the analogue speedometer located in the cab. He needs to tap the AWS warning bell with his left hand failing to do this will result in activating the break switch present on the railway track and breaks get automatically applied and the train will halt. Once the process is complete, the station master of the ver next halt will summon the loco pilot and question him and if he has no valid reason then he will be suspended from service for 3 months without pay as punishment. Now in this video, the speedometer the reading 130 kms/hr is very erratic. Because after touching 130, he still continues to apply voltage but the speedometer is not moving ahead of 130 kms/hr. Do the necessary rectification of the video.
@@sumantakolay1436 compressor sound is diff. WAP 7 all locos have loud friction sound while begging to accelerate. Once the handle is pulled to neutral, the whining sound stops. Compressor sound lasts less than 3 mins. WAP 5 is equally loud. WAP 4 is old but silent while accelarating. Same is the case with WCAM 2 and WCAM 4 which was used in Western and Central railway section of Mumbai. Now replaced with WAP 7.
It seems sound is due to air speed. Had it been engine acceleration sound it must have been there even when train was at 50 kmph. The sound becomes prominent when the train hits around 100-105 kmph. It is turbulent air sound directly hitting microphone.
@@arshjordan5455 you are getting confused between acceleration sound and direct air speed. Now while the loco is getting accelerated 0 to 50 or 50 to 130, the whining sound can be clearly heard. Direct wind speed sound hitting the microphone can't be heard in this video.
I guess if anybody of u have travelled from bolpur to burdwan u may experience the same thing wap7 picks up a speed 110kmph in just 58 seconds with 11 coaches thats incredible if track upgrade gets completed then it can haul train at 200kmph

The only way I can see higher speeds is on elevated tracks. Jo existing lines hai, unke upar hi pillars pe tracks honge tho, slow traffic below and faster traffic above. Stations can access those elevated tracks using escalators/elevators. Track fencing is not feasible, because it cuts access to one side from the other.
Not just elevated tracks but the track requires low curvature. Curvature greatly decrease average speeds. Indian railway network ka jo foundation hya,that was laid out by the british and was done on land basis. So if you just make elevated tracks along existing track,then it will also have curvature and hence low speed

WAP7 can't exceed 180 it can barely go 160

Newer WAP-7s have their TCMS tweaked which ensures faster acceleration. I've experienced 0-110 in less than 120 sec with a 22 coach LHB load.
