P Sara Oval is the ground where First Test played between Sri Lankan & England , Its Home Ground of Tamil Unions Cricket Club where Murali played his Whole FC career
I’m an American and I’ve been to old trafford, Kensington oval, and the grange and the grange is by far the coolest experience. Old trafford and Kensington were fantastic and it’s so cool to know the history and the players who’ve played there but the grange is wonderful
Trust Jarrod to answer P Sara before Jon has even finished asking the question. It's a lovely little ground, often called Tamil Union by locals. It was here Sri Lanka played its first test against England in 1982, and it was here that Sanga played one of his last tests against India. It was also here that Bradman played his only innings on Sri Lankan soil back in 1948. It's super intimate, and unlike the modern coliseums that we take for granted these days - very much like another small ground in Colombo, the SSC. If anyone is visiting, ask someone from the ground administration to show you Bradman memorabilia - I am not sure if the space can be called a museum but I think there is a signed photo, a bat, scorecard. The club house also has some of the best food for a night of beer and conversation. The difference between SSC and P Sara/Tamil Union is their respective locations: SSC is in one of Colombo's privileged neighbourhoods, while Sara is in a mostly underpriviledged neighbourhood, which is why you see goats, cows etc wandering outside its premises.
Thanks for taking the time out to paint a vivid picture of the stadium. I think that Bradman has played only once on Asian soil, and that was at this ground.
Kohli said what he said for tests, mainly. That was because many venues in India don't have enough crowds coming in for test matches, also most don't have good enough infrastructure. And I agree with him. Venues like Mumbai, Chennai, B'lore etc. not only are in a much better state, they still value the longest format, you'd always see the crowds loud and proud regardless of the situation. Other venues should rise up to the bar, have great infra for domestic cricket as well, promote their local teams.
A kiwi mate provided much of the funding to develop it, he asked his old man George Maxwell be added to Graham Yallop. Yallop donated 10's of thousands dollars from his cricket memorabilia collect to get the project started in 2009.
The garden grounds are my all time favourites. Some of those in NZ, SL and SA are some amazing gems
Basin Reserve for me, a beautiful ground, great size, the hills in the background and just seems like a pure cricket venue.
Couldn't agree more. John Davies Oval - Queenstown too.

Isn't SSC close? Very sort of school children flocking around the ground and the Papare bands joining in, to create a test match atmosphere
Pukekura Park is in New Plymouth, Taranaki. Perhaps the most beautiful ground in the world.
Absolutely. Thanks for reminding me about it

Cool! Who's your favorite cricketer?
@ my first favorite was Jason holder but I’m loving kamindu mendis at this moment. I’ve also have met George dockrell so I gotta give him a mention
@@ameswallace8164 Cool! Hope that you continue to enjoy our game.
Cheers,
Bart
That’s what’s missing in Australia, a smaller ground 10K to 15K capacity, with a hill to sit on.
Manuka? Hobart? Adelaide is bigger but also has a hill
The Pune stadium is also aesthetic lowkey
But it's too far for anyone in Pune city outside the Aundh, Baner residents maybe
There's two in Australia that rarely get used. Bellerive oval in Hobart and Manuka oval in Canberra.
Both are world class.
Yep
Durham with the castle in the background
Tunbridge Wells. Memories of Kapil Dev!
Not as famous as my two wickets there once 😂
Sit John Davies Oval in Queenstown, Otago, NZ.
Yup and Basin Reserve in Wellington
Dharamsala! What a place!
Not underrated, think most people agree it’s one of the prettiest places around

Scarbados is criminally underrated. I don’t get why Jonathan hates headingley so much. Is that because she’s southern.
George Maxwell Graham Yallop Oval - West Java, Indonesia
thats a cool ground im curious to how it got the name tho

Go look up the meaning of Underrated
It’s heavily rated.
Say what you may, it's gorgeous and nobody ever told me it was before I saw it myself.
@@SA30.137 obviously it's beautiful but obviously not underrated. When there's match on 90% of the comms is about the stadium and surroundings
@@paramtageja6891 bro no one talks about it like the mcg or lords or whatever.
