A MARRIED COUPLE who share their city apartment with their pet puma say that they consider the big cat a part of their family. Sergey and Marina Ross, both aged 32, live with their 2-year-old mountain lion, Irma in their apartment in central Moscow. They adopted Irma from a zoo one year ago, after hearing that they intended to put her down because they could no longer afford to keep her. The big cat initially did not allow Sergey or Marina to touch her - but after months of adjusting to her new surroundings, she has eventually learned to love and trust them. Now, the couple have regular cuddles with the 38kg cat and Sergey says that he sometimes even sleeps next to her. To follow their story, click here:

I'm suprised the puma isn't wearing a matching jacket as well. Now that would be funny.
These are the only kind of people that should be able to rescue a puma
Flaca Diabla Thank you! 🙏
I don’t agree because they say she is not a wild animal but really she is you can’t take that away from an animal like that.
Messi would agree.
yeah i trust them
@Christian Weissmuller Messi was adopted from a petting zoo, so had been accustomed to lots of human contact. Also, he happened to be a laidback animal to begin with. Every animal is different.

@@x-ray5036 in Russia they are
Cats are the only animals that domesticated themselves -- they chose to live with humans when we first began storing the grain that attracted rodents. The cats have been training us every since.
Now, the puma concolor has decided to get in on all the benefits of having two-leggers as servants and chefs, proving once again how smart felines are!
yes and i love serving cats of all kinds, big small, medium built, they are just incredibly smart and very beautiful in the same time, who can resist this combination ???
Closest relative of house cats.
This reminds me of Messi the puma, he lives in Russia as well and is extremely well cared for.
Messi is a special needs puma. In Irma’s case, how she ended up living with this couple?
@@margui6224
In the video, they explain that Irma was living at a zoo that could no longer afford to keep her and there were only 2 options... Euthanize her or sell her...
Luckily, they were able to buy her...
They are correct in why she can't be released into the wild since she never learned the hunting and other survival skills from her mother if both were in the wild...
And everyone is happy !
@@dalemcnamee2427 I hope they are still living together. Irma is soo lovely and these are nice, caring people... ♥️
Messi isn't afraid of people or being around them most of the time unlike this fraidy schetchy cat in this video and he has more personality towards its owners.
She's very beautiful! And it's wonderful that she has such wise and responsible people looking after her.
people who want to own a puma they have no choice but to be responsible ! either that or no puma..
2nd russian couple with a puma on this channel
You don't need security alarm system for your home at all hooman! You have extremely sensitive natural hearing with 4 legged waiting :)
What a beautiful cat. I don't agree with the total ban but I do realize that there are many irresponsible people who should be discouraged from having exotic pets. For that matter, some people shouldn't have any pets at all. When a cat sleeps with you it should be viewed as a privilege. Their presence is comforting (providing the bed is big enough) and has a way of keeping bad dreams at bay.
*In Russia, cat walk you.*

No, just bear can do this
In Russia, kitty has you for pet.
not only in Russia. It s cats' law
😁
What beautiful big eyes Irma has.
Stella Kalivas Indeed! ❤️
Applying for Russian apartment: Do you have any pets? "Yeah, a puma." Okay cool rent's due on the first of the month.
You don't apply for apartments in Russia like you do in the US, you either own one or rent from an owner directly
She’s a beautiful animal! I wonder if she has ever met Messi? I know Russia is a huge country so maybe not. If it weren’t for you rescuing her, she probably would have been destroyed. God bless you for saving her! 🙏🏻✝️🐾
Did anybody else see that cat drag him down the hill
When I saw the screenshots I thought it was Messi the Puma.
Her and Messi look very alike
Messi is shorter than her 💓
Messi is heavier and shorter. He never grew up to standard size. Irma is lucky to have home and people who devoted themselves to her
@@daskapital3532
Messi is also lucky to have Sasha and Masha as owners... They rescued him from a miserable life in a petting zoo and offering him the life that he enjoys... They also have a cheetah named Gerda, whom they purchased from the Sochi Zoo...

I reckon you guys are doing a great job she is the city cat of the world lol great stuff guys PS I'm so glad you two ended up with her she couldn't be better looked after great work guys
Irma is so beautiful and sweet.. ♥️.. Puma ♥️
I was hoping that they would speak about how their house cat gets along with the puma.
angel piggie they have fun, Lots of fun (simply cause of the fact that they are related)
Im scared that the cougar will eat the house cat
angel piggie Next time!)
angel piggie The fact the house cat is still alive means they at least tolerate each other if not downright get along. :)
better than a cat getting along with a rotriler
A mountain lion hissed at me once from the bushes outside a friends house. And when I was a little kid I woke up at my grandmas house to see a mountain lion watching me sleep through the window. The balls I have to live with such an animal do not exist.
She deserves more then an apartment, does not have to be in the wild but absolutly something that mimic's it
I agree, she needs to space to run about.
You mean in a zoo where they would abuse her?
If the cat likes an apartment she likes the apartment stop tryna be peta
@@nj6509 very true this cougar lives luxury compared to wild pumas
Another pet Puma in Russia. Irma is a full size puma. Unlike Messi that has special needs. How Irma was rescued?
She is gorgeous. A Princess
I think Irma and Messi should go on a date.

Messi, now Irma. I wonder if scientists in Russia secretly bred domesticated pumas just like with foxes.
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL
These cats are demanding and a handful to take care of,it helps that these people get her out and walk her as living in a apartment 24/7 is no life for a wild animal( it takes many generations to tame animals) but that said I would rather see her with this caring people than any zoo
I am worried about that other smaller cat in the house... looks like an easy target if Irma decided that she didn’t like it
Cats don't turn like that (domestic or big) unless they are abused. Same as any other animal (dogs included).
menotu000 I’m just saying, it’s like having a bird and and a cat in the same home. It’s fine until an accident happens
Omfl Imagine going to the park and thinking you’ve encoutered a mountain lion. Then you see two shortys going like “oh dw that’s my pet”
I d love to!
Videos Ive seen of Pumas as a pet have one big thing in common. They always have committed owners who invest their lives for this animal.
Sergey's English is superb. Has he lived in America before?
The regular cat is like "get me outta here "
shes so beautiful (the puma)
Is it me that I could’ve sworn that she was thinking “ Omae wa mou shindeiru” to the camera crew @ 2:49 or I’m just tripping🤷🏾♂️
I bet they were inspired by puma Messi story
They are super lucky to live with one of those animals
Joshua Ruiz Indeed. We are honored.
Why can’t the puma have a dope galaxy jacket lol
I better stop watching these kinds of videos before I have the thinking of getting a freakin’ hyena or something
Две кошки в доме это 👍👍👍😸😸😸
I agree that Irma could not survive in the wild but I suggest you give her much more space to exercise. You need a yard with trees. I also would have suggested continuous exposure to other animals and people. Socialized animals do much better because you can't keep her away from people for her life. What about going to the vet? She will have to be muzzled. Take an example from Messi. I see that you love her. Concentrate on providing for her. I am so surprised that pumas are being domesticated. I know cheetahs do well because they are like dogs and social, but pumas, like you said, are solitary animals, hunters. There is a lot of instinct in her. Watch for signs. Messi was socialized a lot but you can see that he really doesn't like to be around anyone but the couple he lives with. Good luck. Enjoy the love.
Gorgeous beast:)
Just a matter of time before it turns and kills them lol
Usually cougars have blue eyes, but Irma has rare brown eyes!
it _is_ cruel to keep a wild or exotic animal if they already lived in the wild before and still can. But if the animal won't be able to hunt and survive, just like he said about Irma, then it isn't ! that simple
This isnt cruel, they saved its life. Also, this is normal in Russia. Its not going to hunt, its domesticated.
It's a cat, it will always be able to hunt and survive.
A Simple Dog Irma was saved from the zoo, she never lived in the wild as well as her parents. There is absolutely no chance she can survive in a hostile environment.
did any of you read the 2nd half of my comment because I said this case is ok because she cant survive in the wild
years ago i would have agreed with your comment..but today their dwindling habitat makes pretty much makes any life a big cat can live..well not cruel.
Female version of Messi!! So sweet... You should entroduce them!
This is smart you guys....😄😄👊
Wow, that puma is a lot bigger than Messi
Yeah, poor Messi suffers from dwarfism. There's also Puma London on instagram, he's HUGE.
We gonna igNore how BOMB they're coats look?
2050: affectionate ginger long haired pumas.
I LOVE THIS, as long as you don't take a wild animal away from its habitat, im fine with it 😊
TDog Sump Spending an hour outside on a leash on weekdays and then being otherwise being stuck inside a city apartment is not being in its habitat.
@@FallingGuineaPig I mean as in don't take an animal that was born in the wild, and then keep it
TDog Sump Even still, just because an animal was born in captivity it doesn’t justify keeping it inside an apartment/house. Captive animals need enclosures, not family living rooms.
@@FallingGuineaPig dude, literally, it's either she dies or has a chance, ITS TOO LATE TO RELEASE HER, AND IF ANYTHING BE MAD AT ZOOS, THEY AREN'T IN THEIR NATURAL HABITAT
@@Weirdo-no9ev Listen, I don't want to fight. I just want people to be informed on how irresponsible this kind of stuff is. I know it's too late to release her, but there's way healthier options for captive animals like her. Also, zoos and wildlife parks actually do loads for conservation and research! And captive animals like Irma can lead enriched and healthy lives in zoos/sanctuaries/etc.! Of course the best option would be for all animals to be in their natural habitat, but for some that's not an option, and so zoos etc. are the next best thing. How Irma is being treated is not in her best interests and it's not safe for her or anyone around her.
House cat x100
Imagine trying to rob their house and all of a sudden a fkn puma jumps at you
She IS a wild animal, just because she's never been in the wild doesn't mean her natural instincts are gone. Rare pets like these aren't like cats and dogs.
Imagine a sign on a tree... $500 award to anyone who finds my puma...
No matter how "domestic" they think she is, she is still a wild animal and they are putting themselves and the public at risk when they take her out. What they are doing is completely unsafe and irresponsible, and this is absolutely not a "rescue". Big cats like Irma should be in a sanctuary, not getting an hour of "outside time" on a leash and then being cooped up in an apartment. It’s cruel. Please, do not endorse this behaviour.
Edit: Forgot to add, but the Berberov tragedy is also something people should be aware of.

And to all the people commenting about what lovely pets Irma and Messi are, please do some research.
www.onegreenplanet.org/news/puma-trained-like-a-dog/
ITS EITHER SHE DIES, OR LIVES, AND GETS TO WALK THE EARTH BECAUSE OF THIS WONDERFUL PEOPLE
TDog Sump What life is being stuck in a city apartment for around 23 hours a day? What life is forever being stuck on a leash when going outside? What is going to happen if she escapes? If she attacks one of them? If she kills one of them? If she kills someone else?
Don’t ignore the facts. This isn’t a healthy life for a cougar or any big cat. She needs to be taken somewhere else where she can live out her life being a cougar, not a glorified house cat.
@@FallingGuineaPig Or worse, subjected to the infamy that arises when that dude decides to say "I'm badass. I keep a big cat as a pet." Not that I suspect this particular couple to make such a claim (they seem genuinely concerned for Irma, just misinformed and inexperienced), but there are people in the world that look at the power and prestige of such animals, and strive to make it their own.
Or I could just take my pistol and pop one in her head since that would be better than living even if it’s have limits🙃
Jai'Lyn Perry Dude lmao what. Did you purposefully choose not to read anything after the first couple sentences or...?
But yeah, sure though, “limits”. It’s an unhealthy life for a cougar and dangerous for the people and pets around her. Imagine a dog being kennelled all day except for a brief little stint outside. Oh, it’s just limits though! Surely that is fine and responsible pet ownership! 🙃
With an active dog in an apartment, at least the owner can take it for a long daily walk and have that be substantial enough. A cougar though? Lmao, sure, an hour outside where the animal can’t even move to the fullest is just peachy. She needs to be put somewhere where she can run, jump and climb freely (within an enclosed space of course, there’s no chance she can go back into the wild), not being left in an apartment nearly the entire day.
What if the cougar sees an animal and it wants to catch it? I don't think you can stop that.
Just another normal day in mother lands
Irma pumpin y’all, y’all work for her
The denial of people that own wild predictors amazes me. So many people die from their wild big cats, because they are in denial over how dangerous they are.
lisa evans How many, do you have statistics? Even in the wild cougars pretty much never attack humans.
@Irma_pumacat, there are more and more attacks as people move into their territory along the West Coast of America. Cougar are solitary creatures, but they have and will attack humans when they find they are easier to attack then other prey. Her in the United States people are attacked by their "exotic pets on a regular basis. People treat their exotics like house pets and sooner or later they show their wild nature and lash out. It's a sad truth that people like to ignore. Don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise. It's not fare to the animal and it's defiantly dangerous to any human that comes into contact with that animal.
Firtsly Its cruel bcz she never been given a chance in life to have hunting skills and survival skills... secondly its also cruel after years of keeping her domestic u want to release her... she basically have no choice at all
She doesnt need hunting skills. They feed her. Lol its domesticated. It had 2 options, die or live with me.
Jai Rogers Correct. Irma was saved from the zoo, she never lived in the wild as well as her parents. There is absolutely no chance she can survive in a hostile environment.

When I saw Moscow Russia I broke out laughing
if she was only 7 months old when they got her I dont get why they didn't rehabilitate and release her in the wild.
Leigh Davis Captive cougars are unable to be successfully rehabilitated and sent back into the wild. The only options for orphan cougars are to either A) go to a zoo or sanctuary, B) get left out in the wild, or C) get put down. A cougar like Irma (after being raised in a zoo for 7 months) would have 0 chance of being successfully rehabilitated. Even if it was possible, it would also be expensive for them to ship the cougar to North America (as cougars are not native to Russia).
Leigh Davis Irma was saved from the zoo, she never lived in the wild as well as her parents. There is absolutely no chance she can survive in a hostile environment.
Releasing to the wild isn't always the best option. There's numerous things to consider when making such a decision, for example: age, health status and associated needs if any. Ability to survive alone is a biggie.
I wonder if Irma & Messi are related? Sounds as though they came from similar circumstances. 🙂
Good luck with her, seems like you are doing a fantastic job with her😘😍😘🤩❣💖💜💙💛💚
