It's so sad when non-Americans take on a American accent as soon as they move there. I once met an 80 year old English man when I worked in London, who'd lived in Canada since he was 28, and who had no trace of a Canadian accent whatsoever. When I asked him about that, he just said that those people who do use an accent are just putting it on!!

Doctor Who is seen by way more people in the world than any given "big" American TV show, but American TV shows are likely way more profitable by margin, which is what most folks in US Show Business concern themselves with. Note how every conversation references how much money a given property makes rather than whether it's a quality film or not. Sometimes it's both, but it's not what our primary cultural concern, to my dismay.

Think you are missing the point - she basically went straight into Guardians of Galaxy, a massive Hollywood film. She's said it herself in past interviews. She wasn't in a successful US sitcom, and there's a ton of British people who just do British TV and never get in a film.
Jimmy is usually an ignorant fool, who's not exactly an artsy intellectual, & probably doesn't know half her work, but he did say films, so series doesn't count

When it occurred to me that Karen played both Ruby Roundhouse in jumanji and Nebula in the MCU, I have much respect for her acting abilities. Totally different temperaments and personality. Several great (even legendary) actors (like Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Bruce Willis, and even Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart) have a similar persona to the different roles they play. Not disparaging that at all. They have a particular charm to all their roles. Some actors though (like Daniel Day-Lewis, Gary Oldman, Christian Bale and I'd include Karen Gillan) can show extremely different personalities in their different roles. I find that fascinating.

Honestly, she is quite underrated, given all that she has done. And this is in general, considering people (ahem, Jimmy) forget that her acting career is not some beginner’s stardom, and they either say she plays the “blue girl” and the “girl with half a shirt”. Not only does she seem like a very sweet and companionable person, but she’s a good actor. People should give credit where it’s due.

Dude, she's been acting for close to 15 years, and she's been pretty well-known since 2010. Her filmagraphy is a mix of giant blockbusters and much smaller films. Kimmel needs to fire whoever is in charge of doing research for his interviews.

Karen Gillan has had the most successful post-Doctor Who career of any actor in the show's 50+ year history. What's really astonishing is how this all came about. This didn't seem at all likely when she was first cast in Guardians of the Galaxy, even after that movie became a hit, because her role in that film was little more than a minor villain, perhaps a bit more sympathetic than the other villains in that movie, and she managed to escape in the end, but still nothing to indicate she'd be all that important.
But then she got this whole amazing character development in GotG Vol 2, then played key crucial roles in the next two Avengers movies. In Endgame, she's tied with Scarlett Johansson with the sixth largest screentime (and the largest screentime for a woman) in that movie after the five original male Avengers. One could say, based on screentime, that Endgame is essentially about the original 6 Avengers...and Nebula. Gillan had one of the biggest roles in one of the biggest movies of all time.
And *in between all that* she did the Jumanji reboot, a reboot no one was especially clamoring for, that ended up being a huge, unexpected, runaway hit. If the sequel manages to be a sustained hit for the next several weeks, she'll be the biggest star to come out of Doctor Who, bar none.

Black pudding is actually lovely stuff. It is eaten all over the UK, normally with what we call a 'fry up' or English/Scottish breakfast. If you aren't that into the idea of congealed pigs blood in your food, you can go for white pudding, which omits that ingredient.

Black pudding is a Sausage, has the usual sausage stuff in it. Though the majority ingredient is Blood, lots, and lots of it, after filling and tying, it is boiled quite fiercely till done. The usual way of consuming it is in very thick slices, which are fried till crisp. then the slices usually 3, or 4 are placed in a plate with the other things breakfast related, or made as a sandwich. To be honest its not unlike a fried Scab sandwich , but if you're used to it it isn't bad at all. Same goes for Haggis, the National dish of Scotland.
I wish we could hear her gorgeous scottish accent more in the movies she's in.
