    Notes and stuff:
Wooting sent me the Two HE to review for taiko. I didn't get paid though. As always, never treat reviewers' words as the objective truth.
I know I mispronounced BFKB113PBK as BFKB11PBK at the start. I am so sorry.
I FORGOT TO VOLUME MIX THE MUSIC BEFORE THE NEWS SECTION I AM SO SORRY
Final thoughts or TLDR : Honestly? They're so similar in performance for taiko that chances are it'll come down to preference versus price. If you want a mechanical keyboard you can use for pretty much everything, get the wooting. If you want a keyboard JUST to shred on taiko, then the BFKB113PBK is for you (because it's kinda eh on everything else tbh)

    long review ahead
Index only/2 finger player here, I've been using BFKB as my primary (and taiko) keyboard since Summer 2019, after Corsair K70 keycaps started breaking at a rate of 3 keycaps a month. Almost got into top 100 with it (peak rank #105).
In terms of its fitness for taiko, well clearly it's suitable since most top players use it. However, I got tendinitis (chronic tendon inflammation, tendons being the things that your muscles pull to move your fingers) just a year after switching to it (first noticed it in Summer 2020, but it only started affecting taiko a few months later), and semi-quit taiko. I played now and then, but that always increased finger pain. I don't actually know any other players who got RSI, so my story probably isn't indicative of the general experience. Getting tendinitis as an index-only player may sound weird because you don't have to move your fingers, you move your wrists when you play, but actually holding your finger in place even when it hits the keyboard at 300BPM requires some tension too.
This year, I got two sayodevices, which are like $15 Wootings (I got two 4-key keypads), and tried getting back into the game. What I immediately noticed is they make you use less force. I played with them for a while, and after switching to BFKB, I immediately noticed how much force I used to use. When I use more force with the sayodevices, my streaming speed actually falls by like 20bpm. Also, while I'm *not* pushing speed on purpose (I'm playing easier maps and improving my acc and high SV skills so I can do 3-mod plays, my already very good HD which is mostly only possible to improve on low BPM anyway, trying to learn RD after switching to Lazer, the goal being to make maps like Shinsekai and AC-227 sightreadable with HD), I didn't notice any more pain than usual (tendinitis, like any chronic inflammation, is incurable, so my tendons hurt on and off no matter whether I play), and I've actually set my monthly playcount record of 6666 plays this February.
Another difference I noticed is it slightly increased my consistency. Sometimes during streams you can feel your hands "slipping away". On BFKB, this is basically a guaranteed miss, but on sayodevice I've generally been able not to miss in such cases. This is consistent with std players' experience, that say Wooting can reduce misscount and still let you hit when it feels like you're gonna miss - this is the main benefit of rapid trigger.
However, I can imagine Wooting is slightly worse for high BPM, though I don't have any more data as I'm not pushing speed at the moment. As an index-only player, switching between k and d is noticeably faster on BFKB. That said, most maps don't make heavy use of kkddkkddkkdd anyway (compared to all other patterns), so it's probably mostly fine - this only slightly increases the index-only disadvantage, keeping it a viable playstyle for most maps anyway.
For ddkk players, I'd actually recommend Wooting/sayodevice, mechanical keyboards offer good feedback which is important for finger control, something kddk players don't have to worry about.
I'm still using BFKB as my primary keyboard, as it has the JIS/105 key layout (which I use) as opposed to the ISO/ANSI/101 key layouts (which most keyboards in the world have). In terms of build quality, some keys (mostly left alt) are getting mushier. Keys can change their feel after using them for taiko for a while, so you may have to periodically rotate them. My numpad 5 key somehow became less mushy than other keys (I don't know how that even happened), so I had to switch from it. Some keys also don't register if you don't push them enough (but only in some parts of the key, other parts are fine), this is probably because of the keyboard's age, but maybe it's there on new ones too.

Index player here as well. I'm around 4k rank in taiko. I haven't had keycaps break on my k70 or my gmmk but I have had an issue with the force. For me it was too little. I swapped my switches for way heaver kailh box navy (90g) for the feedback it provides. Keyboard feedback helps me a lot when playing any game and in taiko I could play harder maps easier and improve faster.

Nice vid! I just got my wooting last thursday and so far it has definitely worked pretty well for me on taiko, still need more time to fine tune my settings but it has definitely helped me out playing a lot of speedier maps so far. Thinking about buying a BFK for the fun of it this summer as well but already content with the wooting

    • @chayleaf
      @chayleaf 10 месяцев назад +3

I mean let's be honest it's not because you can't play kddk, it's because you can play ddkk on a decent level thanks to mania alone, but can't play kddk because you haven't learned it. Muscle memory isn't something automatic, you read patterns and move your fingers accordingly, switching from ddkk to kddk is as simple as changing the way you read patterns. Of course nothing is wrong with playing ddkk, it's just a bit of a different game.

what i love about the BFKB is how easy speed becomes on it, fingers bounce off so well on those switches that hitting long speed sections or long streams becomes a breeze, i haven't had a wooting myself though, only tried one at COE where rapid trigger actually screwed me up more than it helped me, cuz it was so sensitive i thought the keyboard was doubletapping, however it was just rapid trigger being enabled

Not an osu!taiko player (or really a rhythm game player, at least past a casual level), but I'm stopping by to get impressions of the BFKB since I'm importing it to be my main workhorse keyboard in Tetris and bullet hell shmups. Very happy to see it getting the love that it does :)

As a taiko top player who tried both i can say that rapid trigger work a bit too well most of the time. What I mean is that when i played speed with the wooting i ended up clicking too fast. That’s why i personaly think the bfkb is better for taiko even with kddk playstyle.

buy two of those 25 dollar 3 key rapid trigger doohickeys lol.
also, rapid trigger is just plain broken outside of rhythm games as well, tac shooter kids getting their hands on rapid trigger if they can control it is a large peek/unpeek movement advantage. juking people with movement on no ground redirection accel feels insane + strafe jump accel precision and spammability on afps games. GD spamming and gameplay precision. not to mention nadeo not encouraging it for trackmania.
it is nuts. theres stuff like the drunkdeer and the aforementioned sketchy keypads.
