EDIT: I trimmed out the part of the video that talked about north facing switches. It was my complete mistake not to have tried installing the switches the other way (what a dumb move on my part, especially knowing that from how the hall effect switches look, it could be rotated in any direction). Sorry about the mistake!

Thanks a lot for spending your time on a review! You absolutely did it justice by additional lubing it and showing the internals. To help answer some questions:
    1. Each graphic on the PCBA under the key is actually from a founder that bought the signature edition when we launched the board.
    2. 100 000 000 click lifespan because that's when the machine after months of non-stop pressing is like, well really like fuck me, why won't this just break?
    3. You can 180 degree rotate the Lekker switch and install it south facing. Works all the same.
Taking note of that transparent strap, that would indeed make it easier 🤩

Electrical engineer here. The reason they have a lot of Vias is because on a four layer board one of your inner layers is the ground plane, and then you usually put a ground plane on top after routing all the wires. You place as many Vias as possible to connect the two ground planes such that you have a really good connection for current to flow and for good capacitance. TLDR lots of Vias = good electrical engineer

    • @jeroenlangelaan2022
      @jeroenlangelaan2022 2 года назад +8

Yeah, this 100%. There are very long horizontal and vertical traces on the board, so you really need to keep the return path short. On a side note, outside of component density, four layer is much better for EMI certification. We struggled a lot with that with two layer boards in the past.

    • @Anuki

for those who don't know, you can only rotate the switch for this board since the post and hall effect sensor thing seems symmetrical. but on a traditional mech, the pcb itself would have to come with South-Facing led sockets. so don't go rotating your mx browns and being sad!

In my experience, I used to use a Cherry Silver K70 and I found that my accuracy on Osu was better with the consistent actuation point, it will take me a long time to learn this Wooting HE keyboard and I will probably need to be more "on it" to hit very good accuracy. I have never been all that good at Osu though so I'm positive there are other players that could preach to this board's features in a few years once they've grown accustomed to it.
For CSGO and Valorant though, CRACKED. Absolutely a game changer to be able to stop your inputs faster when rounding corners and stopping to shoot. There was next to no learning period with these games, pretty much just an instant advantage.

i think for getting used to rapid trigger, enabling the "continuous mode" advanced rapid trigger setting and then choosing a rapid trigger sensitivity equal to your actuation point can help. if you do this, you can make it so that the distance you have to press down the key is always the same, e.g. if you set your actuation point to 0.8mm and your rapid trigger (downstroke) sensitivity to 0.8mm as well. in contrast, if you had for example 0.4mm rapid trigger sensitivity but 1mm actuation point then you would have to press the key down 1mm the first time but 0.4mm for subsequent presses until you lift the key all the way up, which might be unintuitive. the continuous mode also helps here, for reasons that are hard to explain in a youtube comment.

I invested in the keyboard because Wooting's way of approaching things as a company was so heartwaming.
I pre-ordered the keyboard before the first batch came out so i was one of the firsts in the EU to get it.
Honestly long-term there haven't been any OMG improvements because of the keyboard, it just helped with finger locking on omega hard stuff.
I always singletapped pretty quickly and it helped but not by much (in actual gameplay where u cant really just make ur whole arm a single finger if u play stuff that has actual 180 or more bpm patterns).
Pro-tip for sliders just find the rapid trigger sensitivity at which u don't randomly release it (for me its around 0.3mm).
They literally told the community everything and asked for opinions too!! (there was a huge issue with lacking of voltage regulators and they told the community the possible price increase to get it out sooner by sourcing it somewhere else and why they choose not do that).
Absolutely goated company and I knew they keyboard concept had so much potential, glad to see they are finally getting recognition for their hard work (albeit starting with a drama lol).

You can actually, I've played with this playstyle for BPMs up to 270, it's an uncomfortable transition to go from armjacking to streaming but it works for DT and whatnot, though it does have its limits compared to learning to alt (other than incredible shake)
And yeah! What wooting is doing is really neat and it's cool that they listen to the community and help them the most

I think it has that amount of layers because the swithes are actually like motion sensors, where a key can be double function, but to have that double function it means that each key must have double circuits to the main pcb and each function will be controlled in how deep the button actually is. But this is just a theory I don't see any other purpose of wasting resources on having multiple layers, even if the intention was to have a stronger plaque the could just make it thicker...

I sincerely hope that this very video blows up in views. I seethe the custom keyboard community for not adopting real innovation/improvement (EE side and to a degree, ME side). Thanks, Tokaku :).

The incredible thing about rapid switch from what I can tell is you can NEVER short stroke the key. ANY impact can trigger it.

i know this is unrelated to the video in every way, but whats the best way i can practice having accurate inputs? in other words, sometimes i accidentally let go too soon on a hold note, don't press enough times (single note into hold, and end up missing the hold note), sometimes i press the wrong input and the right input because i can correct fast enough (end up having misses on lets say 4k where I'm supposed to press D but accidentally press F for example) etc. whats the best way i can prevent all of these? like is there a specific song i should play over and over again? i know just generally practicing helps and also getting in longer sessions but its really irritating, especially when I'm trying to practice alone.

i wonder if this would be comfortable to transition from laptop keys? everytime i tried shitty keyboards around the house or the gamer displays at best buy with proper switches they all felt like ass to me bc laptop keys are so shallow. but i don't want to demolish my laptop's keys over time (i've already done this to a different laptop lol)

I’m personally still not great at osu but tbh I might get this anyway despite needing more practice before I really need any upgrades to do better. I’m still using an old keyboard that I had before getting my computer and while it works okay as just a regular keyboard, it honestly sucks for games, especially osu. The force needed to actually press down the keys is way too much, so it’s quite difficult to press the keys on time, especially for anything that requires really quick repeated hits

Got mines yesterday and I play mania and it’s mostly REALLY good for jacks and vibro. Jacks mostly for ratio like I played a map with 78 perfects and 2k marvelous. And it’s ofc good for vibro lol, I downloaded some vibro maps and got some A and S ranks and I can’t vibro so thanks wooting lol. And I agree with the accuracy with the rapid trigger for stream maps like JS and hs and speed, I noticed that I have a more terrible ratio, more greats but less misses but barely would beat my previous pb’s. It works for certain maps, but stream maps is a no, for me at least

I feel like any analogue keyboard would do this. I know razer do one and I think logitech do one and both should be able to do this. If not, it wouldn’t be too hard to develop a background software that adds this in by taking the analogue input to see how far the key is pressed in real time. So if someone prefers other switches, it should be possible to get the same result
