My father was stationed at Bien Hoa from late 66 to late 67 as base civil engineer. I've seen many photos he took that look similar to this film, such as the F-100s. Kinda hoped I might see him in the background somewhere but no luck. Thanks for sharing this film.

I was a USAF SPS perimeter guard at Tan Son Nhut in 1971 and more than once from one of our watchtowers I could watch activity at Bien Hoa which made me glad I was not there. Also, I did not ever want to ever get that close to LBJ (Vietnam vets all know about LBJ).

Yep LBJ was the largest military base outside of the states. While attending AIT classes at Fort Dix had a few classes right next to the jail. Every hour or so a bunch of guys would run out onto the basketball court and move a 3' high wall of sand bags from center of court then play basketball for awhile then rest back sandbags back on middle if court. Two minutes later a new crew would do t GB e samrthing.

19:17,the SUU-23 gun pod. It was also equipped on F-4C/D due to unreliable missile.

Some great classic aircraft, then state of the art, now just museum exhibits. I wonder how many of those locals working at the base were actually VC spies in disguise? Check out the licence plate of the old truck at 15.00 frame, just loved those old French cars in downtown. I noticed there were no helicopters at the base either. Great video, much enjoyed and thank you sir.👌

Ah, brings back memories. I was at Bien Hoa March 1969-70. Though I missed Tet caught a 2nd offensive right after I got in-country. I was in the Air Force but everyone was issued a rifle and dispatched to the base perimeter. It appears you are showing a number of videos in downtown Bien Hoa. If so, were these videos taken before Tet? When I arrived we were restricted to base.

It was reasonable quite on post after Tet.
Most jets looked like tin cans. Gun platforms.
The most frightening were the Cobras at tree top level
Never knew what they were up to.
Then Charlie dropping mortar rounds, 3 at a time , in the middle of nite.
