@arturosierra413 Thank you very much! It's again a new learning curve, but this time it's easier. And I feel a real difference in increased control. Now I am training longer inverted hover on one place and the precise CNC hall gimbals really make a difference. Thats a wonderful feeling to have more connection with your helis!! Best greetings!!
Another great video Matthias!! Congratulations on the new transmitter! FrSky makes some awesome, quality radio equipment!! I have an X18 and two X20 transitters and they have all been flawless!!
@rickhayes Thank you very much! I already love this radio! The gimbals are soo smooth! Of course for an old guy after flying with my old radio for two years it takes me a bit time to get used and to adapt. But it feels so good in my hands and the ETHOS syestem is so much better to understand than Edge TX!
Hi Matthias, thanks for your thoughts. I think it is very important to understand how the operating system works and how to optimize it. If ETHOS works for you now and is also easier to understand, that's definitely excellent. Happy flying Reto
@jupi-aladin You are absolutely right! I am at the moment in the progress of getting to know ETHOS. In the past I was afraid to change almost anything in my radio because I thought I might destroy something. Because of it's graphic structure I can see much easier in ETHOS on what I am working. Yesterday I added two new models: My second M2 EVO and my M1 and all worked out well. I adjusted the Timers, named the models... Very basic stuff but for me it's a big step because I am now willing to try. Now in winter there is much more time for learning and trying on Winter evenings and exploring a new world. Thank you and best greeting to Switzerland!!
Thank you buddy! To crash a couple of helis because of my faulty old radio was very sad. I can take pilot errors. But signal losses and total loss of control are destroying the confidence massively! Thankfully the new TX made me forget this dark episode quickly and I am building up new confidence and getting the fun back!! Happy flights for you as well!
@RCCopterLove glad to hear your back in the air with confidence now my friend. I've never had a issue such as you have experienced. I couldn't think of anything worse than a crash knowing it wasn't pilot error. Onwards and upwards buddy. Enjoy your new tx. Be safe 👌👍🏻
@@Rcheliguy Thank you for your empathy! It was really horrible to watch: I was upside down when suddely the motors of my M2 EVO stopped. Uncontrolled Pirouetting, no cyclic control and down she went! I had my second M2 EVO with me and before I realized that my TX was defective I was flying again and the second heli went down. This time when I was in the middle of a front flip.... The day later I took of the Blades and with the hekp of my lovely wife I made range tests on the field: She was standing with the transmitter, I was walking away with the powered on heli (without blades) and witnessed, that after only about 20 meters the signal control LED on my SFHSS RX satteites began to first flash and 2 meters further the signal was lost. On the M1, M2 and M4 there is a great feature that the motors are switched off autamatically as soon as the signal is lost. it's great for safety, so that you do not experience a fly away! I am happy that this did not happen with my M4's. Thanks again! I am very happy with my new radio!
@RubenRC94 Thank you very much Ruben! Yesterday evening I spent with my new Radio to get to know "her" better: Adjusted the right (reduced) display brightness, set the Date and time and all was so super easy! I even created a new model for my second M2 EVO by just making a "Clone" and giving it a new name. Today I want to bind the second model with a new Archer Plus RS Mini RX to the radio. My plan is to do it all by myself. With my EdgeTX Radiomaster I needed help from friends and although it's great to have helpful friends it's much more satisfying to be slowly able to do things on my own. I am a bit a late starter!! 😂
@RCCopterLove good to hear you like the radio and ethos. A few quick tips you can assign one of the pots to the display brightness. This way you can easily adjust it on the go. The same goes for volume. Don't forget to update the receiver this can be done through a over the air update on the radio. (you need to upload the firmware on the radio first through your pc or laptop. Don't forget to give the radio a update too through ethos suite. This will make sure it works well with the updated receivers and irons out a few bugs like lost telemetry.
@@RubenRC94 Thats a great tip with the pots! Thank you! I now adjusted the brightness and the volume in the settings. I will try to figure out how to assign these functions to the pots! @@All_things_RC. very true words! I needed a confidence bust after the horror helplessly watching my loved M2 EVOS fall out of the sky! I believe there is nothing worst than total signal losses!
I think this was a VERY important and good video Matthias! I too, used the OMP controller and was flying the M1 and M2 on it when I started. And I still use it when flying the M1 and 2. As you said, it is a good beginner transmitter, and yes it does have quite a bit of dead band. The stick inputs seem delayed and you have to think a little bit ahead of the heli. I've noticed the Goosky transmitter is pretty much the same. It seems to have a little less dead band, but again there is a delay in the input. I like how you are stepping up in transmitters, and you are really showing that even though they're not the most expensive transmitters, they do the job well. Especially the newest one with the CNC gimbals. I really thought you would get the Radiomaster TX16S MKII next with the optional CNC gimbals, but I think trying different radio brands is a GREAT way to go as well. You had the help of an experienced FBL programmer to setup the M4 and the M4 Max, and like you said it seems a bit complicated, and you didn't understand what was really going on. I TOO have that problem. Since I fly fixed wing as well, as that's where I started in 2003, I learned to program those myself, and they are much easier than setting up a flybarless. I don't have ANY support where I live, to be in contact with someone "In Person" to help me with programming, so I'm using 2 other Heli flyer's instructions on RUclips, on how to do it for my first time. I have the Goosky RS4 Venom all finished finally, using the provided GTS+ Flybarless system. I heard that much like the OMP M1 and M2 controllers the Goosky S1 and S2 are setup from the factory with all settings at 5. I've heard that this GTS+ from Goosky is NO different. So I'm counting on this to help with setting up the heli a little easier. I had to craft a small plate on the front to place the Spektrum DSMX receiver on, and it too is in place. I have to use a "Dummy Clone" Spektrum receiver in order to bind it to the DSMX satellite and it doesn't look hard at all. I'll be using my Spektrum NX8 to fly the RS4 Venom. I noticed both you and @RCHeliGuy are putting aways the larger birds until it gets warm again, and are back to flying the small heli's. I get it, it makes sense. Much easier on the wallet in a crash with the small heli's, so why risk flying with cold hands on the larger ones. Again, GREAT VIDEO my friend!
Thank you very much! EdgeTX and Radiomaster was an endless nightmare for me because it was so complicated and I just never got along with it. If I could give you a one friendly advise I would recommend you to bind the M1 and M2 as well to your NX8 (main radio). I guess flying helis with such different radios will confuse you more than it helps. I was trying my T6 RTF transmitter lately when my old radio broke. Because the RTF transmitter works with the OMPHOBBY protocol there is not only deadband. There is some Expo built in and this how you call it very well "delay". I am flying ALL my helis with ONE transmitter and this helps me big time. The helis already behave slightly different because of size an settings, but at least I dont nor have to get used to more than one transmitter. Just my 5 cents, please dont mind my comment.
