What a great dupe! Your speed of video with the voice over explaining is masterful. Thanks for quickly showing your supplies and describing how they help the project. As another said, a little safety goes a long way, spring clamps are available at Harbor Freight for a good price. Glad the algorithm sent me your video.
I will practice safety! I looked around our garage and I did find a couple clamps, so I will put them to use! Thanks for the kind words! I am so happy that you have enjoyed my video 🥰 I hope I can continue to provide content you can enjoy!
U could also use the raffia as tails for the cats and tuffs do hair on the crows and the tumbling blocks could be used in the from as the paws and the crows feet! These are soooo cute and easy! Thank you for sharing this!
I'm thinking, to make good use of your wood, the tops of the crow's head could be drawn between the cat's ears. The crow is a much steeper angle but that can be accommodated by giving a tiny bit of space between the drawn lines of the cat head and crow head. Hopefully this helps someone with a limited supply of wood, (like me!)
That's an excellent idea! Thanks for sharing it! In my case, I had all those small pieces I used for the crows that were left over from other projects I've made and they have been sitting in a box forever. I just choose a couple pieces I thought would work the best and used them. And for the cats, I just had that piece of 2x4 here and decided to use it for them. I agree with you, it is always best to utilize every piece you can! Thanks again!
Thank you for becoming part of my RUclips family! I am happy to have you here! Yes, these projects are adorable, I couldn't resist making them when I saw them! 😊
Thank you! When I sketched out the markings on where to cut the pieces of wood, I just eyeballed it and did the cuts where I thought they would look nice together. But, I measured them so I can answer your question and the cats where all made out of the same 2x4 piece of wood and their heights are measured at 7in for the shortest, 8.75in for the midsize one & 11in for the tall one. The crows were all made out of the same type of old fence wood, just scrap pieces I had around that I had cut down to the sizes that I thought looked good together and they measured at 7in tall by 5.5in wide for the shortest one, 9.75in tall by 4.5in wide for the midsize one & 12in tall by 3.25in wide for the tallest one. Hope that helps!
They are perfect!!! I saw them on pintrest and wanted them. I felt they were easy to replicate but I don't have the saws and stuff sooooo.....I plan to make them in 1:12 scale out of popsicle sticks for my dollhouse. I have to face the fact that I have tons of yard stuff. I think I need to slow it down😁😁😁😁😁
Thank you! You can always buy the mdf board signs at Dollar Tree and cut them down with a box cutter! They will be thinner, but you can put a back stand on like I did to mine with the tumbling tower blocks. They were fun to make! I thought they were adorable too, I couldn't resist myself from making them! 🤣
Please get some clamps and a more sturdy surface. You really will lose fingers if you continue using power tools like that. Two rules to follow: 1) always cut AWAY from yourself - that includes your hands. If you just pay attention to this rule, you are much more likely to keep all your pieces intact. 2) Whatever you're cutting or sanding should not move. Do not hold them in your hands. Do not set them loose on a shaky table. Clamp those suckers down. Ok, that said, love the project and how it ended up. Really cool idea. Pretty please, next time clamps?
Thank you for the input! I will look around the garage and see if we even have any clamps. I've been doing it this way for a long time, and I know it doesn't look like it in the video cause it is sped up, but I am very careful not to cut myself. I will definitely use the clamps if we have them. I'm glad you liked the finished product! Thanks again for watching and advice 😉
@@handmadebyjess I agree with the advice here. I watch a lot of woodworkers, and they don't take chances like this. It only takes one slip to alter your life forever. Clamps don't cost that much. Make a few more projects, and sell them, so you can buy or make a sturdy work bench. I've seen a few times when woodworkers had a project that did something unexpected--like wood that shattered and splintered. Their eye protection saved their eyes, and their caution saved their hands and fingers.
You are absolutely right, it really does only take a moment for something unexpected to happen and it could cause some serious damage. I did find a couple clamps in out garage. We plan on buying more and doing as you suggested with a proper work bench. I always appreciate any advice and input! 😊
Thank you so much! I hope I can continue to provide content you can enjoy! 😉 The crows were made from a few old scrap pieces of 1x6 fence wood. I bought several of those fence panels from someone on Marketplace for $1 each years ago and I have used them for so many DIYs and I still have a ton left! And the cats were made from a scrap piece of 2x4. I was able to cut all of the cats out of the one piece I had since it was bigger.

You need a better workbench.
I know right! I'll get there eventually. I've been using that lil end table for a couple years now for EVERYTHING 😂 hey, it works for now! 😊
