    I love that you are saving our planet by using wood that might be tossed and using older clothes to make ribbon. Not only are you helping the planet, but you are helping to keep products at a lower price to preserve the strength of the dollar. To top it all off you are generating work based in america rather than over seas! Can I give you a round of aplause!!!

    I found some old newspapers from the 1940s and decoupaged (ripping the corners around all four sides) that onto a scrap wood pumpkin and then layered on some rub on transfers. I really love the look

I have already made 2 shelf sitters for Christmas using the chalk paint, sanding after wax, and laser printer transfer techniques. I showed them to my friend and she couldn't believe I had made them myself! So thank you for sharing your talent and ideas, I'm totally hooked!

    Love the shelf sitters! I really like the crackle technique & it shows great with the black & orange. I purchased the paint recipes & have them in a book. I put each one in a page protector first due to me being a messy crafter! 🙄Now.....to get your "techniques" added! I refer back to the techniques quite often. Love all your videos. See you next time. God bless you. 🥰

    I’m curious, is it the outline of the mod podge that is still left on the object after you’ve rubbed off the paper, or is it some of the paper? Whenever I do the reverse transfer method , I always have this odd outline that shows. Doesn’t matter if I am doing it over light colors or dark. Is there a way to avoid that?

    • @OurUpcycledLife
      @OurUpcycledLife  2 года назад +1

      If you’re seeing a very prominent line you’ve probably used too much mod podge mod podge is thick so if you’re putting it on that way it will definitely show a line you don’t need very much to do this transfer technique if you do see a little bit of a line you can always blended in with your background colour hope that helps

    • @TheodoraBrass
      @TheodoraBrass 2 года назад +1

      I think the trick is to make sure that it is a matte finish Mod-Podge. Glossy would definitely leave a noticeable line.

    Not sure if you are just speaking from past experiences years ago, Deidre, or if your local HD skirts company policy, but HD corporate actually instituted policies that do not allow any wood - regardless of how damaged it is, or how small the scrap cut offs are - to leave the store for free. EVERYTHING is charged at cull wood prices (which is 30% of regular retail on the item...even if it's a 2" cut off that's half garbage & you're just looking for scraps to use under your primary wood when drilling or making cuts) or some mgrs will tell you they have to charge a pro-rated amt of the full retail price for the cut-offs (so take the shelf price for a full board & pro-rate the chunk you're grabbing out of the garbage bin from full retail price, usually at a per foot price even if less than 1'). HD policy now dictates that they MUST incinerate any scraps/cut-offs, damaged wood, or cull wood that is not sold. They cannot even donate it to charities. They would rather incinerate it than let it walk out the door and be used by someone like you or me, or even an organization like Habitat For Humanity. 🤨😕 I'm aware that the corporation has consistently donated supplies to charities for military veterans (in the US) and perhaps HFH also, but new policies of wasting wood that someone could repurpose (hell, even if they just want to burn it for heat themselves in the winter) is unsettling. I've suggested they donate it to a charity (such as ReStore in the USA) that could use it or sell it for super low prices to support their cause (sell bundles of scraps or whatever they decide to do with it) & corporate won't do it. All the other box stores have followed suit with their scrap & damaged wood policies. The waste & disrespect for the trees that have been sacrificed really bothers me. I keep asking "what else is possible here?" and so far I'm generally just met with robotic responses from automatons who are taught NOT to think and just "do as you're told."
