- In this video I demonstrate how to play the song Cherry Pie by the band Warrant. Cherry Pie was probably the most remembered and iconic songs from the band Warrant. Even though Jani Lane hated it, the song was a huge success for the band and the video help Ed to catapult the band into the MTV "hair metal" band history books. Written by the late Jani Lane, the song is a well crafted song with catchy hooks, tongue in cheek lyrics and some really good song writing and performances by the musicians in the studio. CC Deville from Poison took a guest solo, providing it with just the right over the top energy that brought it to the next level. In this lesson I show you all of the parts verse, chorus and also including the bridge and guitar solo, as well as the ending where the song modulates. I hope you enjoy the video. Am 47 old man still play 80s L A rock on my fender cool lesson bro
Wasn't a warrant fan then. I was a thrash metal guy. Now in my 50's, I'm having fun playing these tunes from this genere. The band i'm in, we're playing down boys. Maybe next lesson?
I actually knew Jani was larger than life before drugs got him!!
The Spandex Warrior at it again!!!
Good job
I was still pretty young (maybe 10-12) when this song came out but it's one everyone remembers.
80's metal was great! Thanks 🤘 Marty
Any future lessons on Warrant would be much appreciated
I'd like to do a riff pack lesson. Bunch of quick warrant licks! Maybe uncle toms cabin lesson too
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Maybe not a real popular opinion, but I thought very highly of Jani Lane as a singer, songwriter and performer. His downfall & personal demons (allegations made by his wife) seem tragic. I Saw Red, Bridges Are Burning, Sad Theresa, and others immediately get people singing along. Warrant are part of my life soundtrack.
@@SixstringLately I really thought he was great as well. Awesome voice and writer. Great memories too. I love Big Talk, Down Bots. And of course Heaven.
I was just getting into electric guitar 90/91 and all I wanted to play was Cherry Pie and Desert Moon. Uncle Tom's Cabin and Hooked were great albums.
Awesome saw em in Puerto Rico twice , so got my morning song to practice tomorrow thanks
Have fun!
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker thanks hope ur doing great
I just heard it on the radio so it does get played today lol.
It's a rock staple! 🍒
1990. Thanks for another great video Marty! I always liked warrant. Very underrated band
Thanks for the memories Marty. I was into the whole hair metal, glam scene 80s up until it died early 90s. they used to call me Brett or Jani, locally. before that they called me George Michael.😆 I'm a guitarist but never knew, or don't remember that CC did the solo in Cherry Pie. Talk about aging!😭🤣
Thanks Marty!
Uncle Tom’s cabin is an awesome one!
This was the gentlemen's club anthem in the early 90's. Or so I've been told 😇
We don’t just accept that way of life…….we MISS IT.
great lesson Marty
Standard Tuning makes it appealing to me 🤗
Same!
Great tone
Cherry Pie is a fantastic dessert. Decadent and tongue-in-cheek. Almost an homage to Little Richard's Tutti Frutti. Poundcake is another good one. Nutritious.
Chill time in the UK, have a couple of cold ones on me Captain.
Much appreciated man! ☮️🍺
Excellent lesson. I would appreciate if you can go over I saw red. 🤘🏽🎸
This is just a Fun song. Glad you did this, as I never even tried to learn the solo, so thanks. If you haven't tried to play this song, take this lesson, listen to the song and play along, you'll have fun...
Edit- This reminded me of a song I used to play, only for the reason I learned it, but not the solo, as I was in a band at the time and had a lead guitarist. Any who, the song is "Evie part 1", by Stevie Wright, and Aussie so you may not have heard of it. But it is a Killer tune, and heaps of fun to play. And like this song, if you don't play with 'attitude', it wont sound right...(PS, there's a little link to AC/DC, but I'll let you and others find that little bit of rock trivia out😉)
OK, a hint for the trivia, Stevie was the lead singer of The Easy Beats, who's guitarist's name was, George Young...
Play some DOKKEN George Lynch era songs. That would be nice! Please and thank you.
Nice
you are d man!!
Riff Bonfire
Debut 89, Cherry 90. There wasn't a stinker on their debut. Ringer Mike Slamer played the killer solos on the first two records.
Down boys
Thanks!! Great song!!
