Persona 5 is chronologically the sixth installment in the Persona series, which is part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise. Published by Atlus in Japan and North America and by Deep Silver in Europe and Australia, the game was released first in Japan in September 2016, and worldwide in April 2017. In Western regions, Persona 5 was the first main game in the series since Persona 2: Eternal Punishment to omit the Shin Megami Tensei moniker.

I went with "Do you have a boyfriend?" in my playthrough. I was quite disappointed by Makoto's failure to actually answer the question. It really bugs me that, barring what happens if you choose "I've always loved you," which seems to be regarded as a joke by most people in-game and never spoken of again, the player character and his significant other can never actually mention to other characters that they're dating. No one else in the Phantom Thieves knows, Sae doesn't know (while I can understand it not being brought up during the interrogation, it did strike me as odd that Makoto never mentioned to Sae in the months before the player character's arrest that she now had a boyfriend), and Sojiro only finds out when Makoto shows up on Valentine's Day.
General Luigi I suppose that's to help the players going the harem route.
It's a bit late but characters like Makoto and Haru are best off not mentioning they're in a relationship with the protagonist. To start with you're character is, wrongly, convicted of assault and is on probation, Japan has a very judgemental society. Next, Makoto is trying to get into college and they're likely not to look favourably on her if she is dating someone with a conviction, plus Sae at this point in the game would probably disapprove of Makoto having any boyfriend, let alone the protagonist, due to it being a distraction from getting into college, and we have seen at this point in the game their relationship is still strained. And because I already mentioned her, Haru is not only the heir to a big food company she just inherited, she is also engaged, and engagement that has a lot of strings attached to it and romanced or not it will take time to amicably end it.
In addition it would also probably not help Ann's career either, same with Hifumi, since they're in the spotlight and their managers would probably prefer they remain single, though Hifumi's case would probably improve after her confidant there is still the matter of the protagonist's history which isn't resolved until the end of the game.

I'm not gonna lie but Makoto's English voice is a lot better than in Japanese.
There’s two types of games, those whose English dub is better than the Japanese dub, and those whose Japanese dub is better than the English dub.

Damn Makoto is so adorable in this. I had max rank with Ann and kawakami at this point but only rank 7 with Makoto and 3 with Haru but Haru was my only option for this particular event for some reason. I think this really helps bond joker and Makotos relationship and makes much closer, which I love. Makoto will always be best girl, but Haru and Kasumi are great too

Are you already dating Makoto? It's the same in my game. I think this is based on who you are dating. I don't date anyone so far, so maybe Makoto and Haru are default options for those events. Not sure about that though ._.

+BlueDragonKnight77 I'm still at Nijima's palace, my PS3 copy arrived only last week^^' Um, I think I chose the mysterious girl option when Ann asked me. But instead of Hifumi, I got Ryuji and Makoto (my confidant rank with Hifumi was at 2 or 3 at that time, maybe too low for a date?). Ann was also only at 3 at that time. For the after school festival I had Makoto on 4, but the only option I got was Haru. Maybe the rank has to be at least 5 or 6 to ask a specific character out? Damn, I focused too much on the dudes in my party and that doctor lady when I started the game xD

I got the whole scene with Ryuji on stage....I had to save him by asking if he had a gf....then MC brought me to stage and I was given choice to speak who I loved....choices were I love u (teammate).....then ryuji immediately changes topic and we end up making fun of ourselves....then he gives u something on roof....just like in video
You have to max out their confidant and choose to date them.

Harem route is the best route. The grand finale being on valentines day having 8 (potentially 9 if you don't respond) lovely ladies beating the shit out of me is probably one of the most rewarding moments I've ever experienced in a game, being a masochist and all.
