Made this and doubled up the ingredients so I didn't waste the half jalapeno or onion. Let me just say it turned out friggin amazing. Awesome sauce and thanx for the video!!
Oh my goodness! This is, first of all, the BEST SAUCE I have ever tasted! No Joke! It is also the very first sauce I have ever made from scratch! I made a double batch and put the remaining into a quart jar for use on many other dishes. I will NEVER by store-bought sauce again! I am sooooo glad I used your recipe :)
That is great!!! I am so happy you tried it and liked it😊😊 yes you are so right. It will be hard to buy bbq sauce from the store ever again 👌👍Thanks for watching ❤
This looks awesome! I love BBQ but I hate how thick most store bought ones are. Definitely going to try this on my next roast chicken and see how it goes. Loving how you have a channel just for homemade sauces! Subbed!
Did you know that honey will never rot, making it good for almost anything. Thank you for the recipe. By the way, did you seed the jalapeños first or did you leave the seeds in?
Looks great. Last time I put tomatoes in a cast iron skillet, all I could taste was iron and had to throw it all out. I def wanna try this recipe, but in a different skillet.
I preffer to use a good quality apricot jam rather than honey and the onion i blitz in a processor and semi caramelize. The quality of the ketchup seems to play a large role in the overall flavour, does not need to be expensive just one you would be happy to use on it's own. Thanks for the video, take care, God bless one and all.
Hey so I just noticed while making this sauce a second time. You have apple cider vinegar at 1/4 cup in description and also have it in video at 1/2 cup
Good catch. I am correcting the description section now. It should be 1/2 a cup. Let me know what you think about it if you try this one out. Thanks for the feedback 👍
@@thesauceandgravychannel I made a double batch of it before but that was with a little less apple cider vinegar and it was still really good. This time there will be the rite amount of vinegar and I added a lil more red pepper for the heat. It smells really good so far 😁
I like your channel. Can you or do you have BBQ sauces such as Texas south western style, KC style, Tennessee Whisky style and a vinegar base S Carolina. What makes them different in taste and what food it's best for?
Thanks for watching!! Yes, you should be able to blend it. I would let it cool down first and then blend it. If the sauce is too hot it could explode out of the blender when you try and blend it. Another option would be to use a little onion powder. Or you can use a mortar and pestle to smash the onions before you through them into the sauce pan.
Yes you can use a red onion. The taste will be a tiny bit different. Red onions have a slightly stronger onion taste. But overall the bbq sauce will still taste good. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching.
Oh yes it is perfect for a burger - you can baste the burger while cooking, use it as a dipping sauce to dip the burger in or even put a little on the bun😋👍
It is noticeable but not overpowering. It is a contrasting flavor when combined with the sweetness of the sugar, ketchup and apple juice. The jalapeno adds a smokiness/earthy flavor to the dish.

Looks great. Last time I put tomatoes in a cast iron skillet, all I could taste was iron and had to throw it all out.
I def wanna try this recipe, but in a different skillet.
Thanks for watching. A well seasoned iron skillet does the job. If it's not well seasoned I would use another pan. I hope you enjoy the sauce👍
It taste way better in a cast iron, season your pan

Most BBQ sauces are too sweet for me! This sweet and spicy one looks perfect though!
I bet you would like a Carolina vinegar based BBQ sauce - it really isn't sweet and has that wonderful bbq flavor and a zing from the vinegar.
@@thesauceandgravychannel Oh yes! I love vinegar based BBQ sauce!!
Indonesia is listening👏👏

I added orange marmalade as well, came out awesome
That does sound like a great addition!! Thanks for sharing 👌👍
Thanks for the awesome recipe
I add the orange marmalade as well. Pretty much the same recipe.
I like your channel. Can you or do you have BBQ sauces such as Texas south western style, KC style, Tennessee Whisky style and a vinegar base S Carolina. What makes them different in taste and what food it's best for?
I don't like spicy. So if I leave out the jalapeno will it still taste good? Thanx for your response
Oh yes it will still taste good without the jalapenos. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching 😊👍
@The Sauce and Gravy Channel...thanx sweetie I sure will!!
New Sub / I just made Hot Honey so I will have to try it in this recipe .
Sounds great 👍

The Sauce and Gravy Channel thank you 😊
Hi! Could i blend the sauce at the end? so i don’t get the onion chunks
Thanks for watching!! Yes, you should be able to blend it. I would let it cool down first and then blend it. If the sauce is too hot it could explode out of the blender when you try and blend it. Another option would be to use a little onion powder. Or you can use a mortar and pestle to smash the onions before you through them into the sauce pan.
is it still good without celery seed?
Thanks for watching. Yes you can leave out the celery seed and it still will taste good.
Can we use vinegar instead of apple cyder vinegar?
sure you can. you can use any vinegar and make it to your taste. 😊
How long it will last if i made the sauce☺️
Because of the fresh vegetables roughly a week in the fridge. If you try it let me know what you think 😊👍
im not lie to you , i have same knife 😁😁😁😁
Can I use shallots instead?
Sure shallots will work. Let me know how it turns out👍😊
Hello could I use red onion ?
Yes you can use a red onion. The taste will be a tiny bit different. Red onions have a slightly stronger onion taste. But overall the bbq sauce will still taste good. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching.
does this taste good with burgers?
Oh yes it is perfect for a burger - you can baste the burger while cooking, use it as a dipping sauce to dip the burger in or even put a little on the bun😋👍
@@thesauceandgravychannel great! cuz i made this sauce for a burger cookout.
What if you can't have ketchup what can you substitute ketchup for
Can you have tomato sauce? If so you can substitute with it.
@@thesauceandgravychannel tomato sauce is tomatoes
@@dougbur806clarendon Try apple butter or apple sauce. You might need less of the sugary ingredients and more vinegar to get a similar result.
What's with the tiny knife 😂 . Good job though
You've got to love the little knife. It is just as sharp but a little harder to smash garlic with🤣😂 thanks for watching 👍😊
Your knife is pretty small
Do not touch your huevos aida😂
😂🔥🔥
LMAO!!
What does that mean I'm English?
You had me until the 2 cups of ketchup....no thanks
What do you think bbq is?
You lost me within 45 seconds... Half a jalapeño???? Really?????
This looks amazing. Tell me, is the apple cider vinegar noticeable? Or is it just a hint in the background?
It is noticeable but not overpowering. It is a contrasting flavor when combined with the sweetness of the sugar, ketchup and apple juice. The jalapeno adds a smokiness/earthy flavor to the dish.
