Yeah. Agree with you on those prices. My first video, so I'll support your channel as a new sub. I am a Filipina American from Detroit. Almost every dish is meant to be eaten with rice. The first dish looks like Menudo or Kaldereta. That second looks like adobo (probably cooked with both chicken and pork, cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic) . Typical dishes to try are pancit (noodles), BBQ pork skewers, lumpia (little meat rolls), bulalo (soup), tinola (chicken soup), sinigang (tamarind based soup, so a little sour but delicious) . Each dish varies from region to region. Hope you continue to try different dishes. Have fun on your journey.
The 1st dish is Menudo It has pork, carots, potato, rasins and sometimes it has peas. The 2nd dish i think its adobo, sometimes pork or chicken, sometimes both in the same dish.
That is Kaldereta and Binagoongan, I think so. But I'm not sure. Halo halo defines as mix mix, both I think is pork. Bagoong is Shrimp paste that is used to the dish binagoongan. Then the kaldereta have tomato paste/sauce
Just found your channel today. What you had was pork menudo, your favorite and chicken & pork adobo! Next time, if there would be a next time, you are supposed to mixed them up before consuming them. Good luck on your channel, I did subscribe, though. 😀
The first one, I think, would be Menudo if it's cooked with diced meat and potato or if it's bigger chunks of meat and potato. It is usually Mechado, or if it includes the bones and cheesy in flavors, it is Caldereta; all of those are tomato-based cuisines. Filipinos love their chicken, so the thing you think is a duck, I think it is chicken; Filipinos, unlike the Chinese, aren't duck eaters, though we eat it when it is there. Halo-halo (Mix-mix) means assorted; you need to mix it all before you eat it to enjoy the mixed flavor of the assorted ingredients.😋😋😋
The first dish is either Caldaretta or menudo (they look similar) the second dish is Adobo. For the halo halo, next time mix the whole thing, instead of eating from the top. Cant wait to see pt 2
@MidnightBloomer were you there to taste the dish? I wasn't that's why I'm basing it off how it looks. Notice in the comment section people are saying Caldaretta, Machado, and menudo? Because we're just basing in off how it looks.
i do not think that the tomato base stew is menudo, because menudo has small chunk meat with pork liver, if it's spicy that is a caldereta, if since you tasted it a bit sweeter then that is a mechado
Guys, the 1st Dishes is Menudo and the second is pork and chicken Adobo. Filipino food does not always cook duck in their food. The second dish ADOBO the main Filipino it is famous dish. You are eating it wrong you need to mix it first before you eat that's why it is called halo-halo means mix it!

You should have taken a closeup of the food so we could better see what it was you ate. If the first one had chicken, it's most likely afritada. If it's beef, it would be caldereta. The second is most likely adobo. Question here is why in the world didn't you ASK what you were ordering?
The first food is Menudo, based from what the lady in the counter said. Honestly, I don't like the way that Filipina entertained you. I think she thinks you are Filipinos or Half Filipinos, so she was just telling you the name of the food in Tagalog instead of taking the time to explain the available food.
I would say you can pass as Filipino. The thing is with Filipinos, while we are predominantly Austronesian and are related to people from Indonesia, Malaysia, Champa people in Indochina, indigenous Taiwanese and even Pacific Islanders, many also have Chinese from centuries of immigration and Spanish and American genes due to colonization. There are some that are descended from pre Austronesian arrivals with the Aeta and other indigenous people of the Philippines. Even recently there have been an influx of Korean immigrants as well. So Filipinos can have varying looks and colors from light to dark brown.
