I think that it's important to weigh your options. And if the chapter has an issue with it, then tell them the truth. It's important to make the best decision for you.
+KelsTells So, just clarifying, it is ok to attend two grad chapter informational meetings, and then you can pick which chapter lines up the best for you you? I just want to be sure that if you do go to the interest/informational meetings, you’re not automatically locked into that chapter? Also, from here, what typically happens after you leave the informational?
Yes, you can attend two informal meetings of the same organization. You’re not obligated. After informal is formal. Formal is by invitation so once invited, you need to decide if that’s the chapter you want to pursue before going further
If the org that you're pursuing only has (to my current knowledge) formal informational meetings, can I assume that it's NOT okay to attend two formal meetings? I, much like my friend above, don't want to have a misstep.
Certainly! To clarify, informal informationals are typically interest meetings. This type of meeting is okay to attend if you’re looking at your options. Anything with the word “formal” I would not recommend attending if it’s for two different organizations/chapters. Get clarification on whether or not it’s the informal interest meeting before attending. Formal meetings are typically the start of the intake process.
@@KelsTells thanks for the advice. I need it because I live between two chapters and no one that I have spoken to knows which service area I belong to (going off of my zip code) so I was about to have a misstep but perhaps I can email the chapter instead to get the answer?
Can you do a video on how to build a relationship with members? I have no problem saying hi. But, can’t figure out how to build that conversation if it’s not natural
I am so glad you created this video. I live in an area with 3 different chapters and I attend the events for them all just as a way of seeing which group of women I mesh with the best.
Thank you so much for weighing in on this issue from your perspective. This video could not have come at a more convenient time for me. I did have a question, if you’re able to answer. What is the difference between an interest meeting and formal ???
Thank you. An interest meeting is a general meeting where you don't have to be invited. You can ask questions and get information about the sorority. Formal is by invitation and is the official start of intake.
I’ve noticed that the two chapters in my area do a lot of combined events. Obviously one is larger and the smaller chapter tends to piggy back off the larger chapters events. I don’t know what to do. Any advice?
You have to decide which chapter works best for you in terms of distance, time commitment and personality. If at any point, the chapter hosts a separate event, you should attend and determine their vibe.
Hi Kels, thank you SO much for this video. I literally was grappling with this but I didn't know if it was even appropriate to ask. I do have one question, though: I went to a few events of a smaller, older chapter I was interested in and then they had a line of over 40 women for the first time in 5 years. Needless to say they won't be having a line anytime soon. I'm looking at another chapter, but I've made a few connections with the first chapter and get asked to go to events. Do you recommend that I still go to the first chapter's events even though I know there won't be a line for at least half a decade?
I think that maintaining the connections you have is very important. They may surprise you and have intake again in the near future. In the meantime, I don't see anything wrong with going to the other chapter's events if they're more frequent
I don’t know if you read the comments. But I wanted to know two things. 1. How do you answer the question why should we choose you? I always struggle with that. 2. How do you answer the question “How much time can you dedicate” you talked about it but I can’t remember which one
I recommend that you make your answer personal. Ask yourself what do you have to offer that the chapter needs. And yes, I did mention your second question in this video: ruclips.net/video/2Klm8zZm1tM/видео.html. No one can dedicate all of their time to anything but people also allocate their time to the things they want to do so be honest and realistic.
They’re the same. Interest meetings/informational are before formal rush. More details in my prep course ruclips.net/p/PLXab-YcNqBvyAU2YfRGNnxD9DAjEmtA5e

Your makeup looks great!
Dallas goes by which zip you live in. Once you are member you are able to choose a chapter.
Good to know. Thank you for your insight!
Thank you for this! You're awesome!
Very helpful!

Can you do one for undergraduate that is stuck between chapters or organizations?
I have one on my channel ruclips.net/video/zCZvXwkbD2w/видео.html
Do you have a video on what questions to ask at a graduate chapter informal?
Yes. Specific info in my prep course. You can also check my playlists on FAQs and membership.

Is there a certain number of years that has to pass before a grad chapter can have a another line?
No. But it’s important to pay attention to their seasons when they have intake each year so you’ll know when they start
