- Billy Strings plays a brand new unreleased song called "My Alice" live in concert before a sold-out crowd at the Camp Winnarainbow benefit concert at Herbst Theater in San Francisco, California on September 29, 2022. He debuted the song a few days earlier at the Billy Strings' Renewal Festival in Buena Vista, Colorado. Joining him in this performance were Eleanor Whitmore (fiddle) and Chris Masterson (guitar).

My Alice lyrics:
Early in the fall back deep in the woods
The first hint of frost is upon you
About a mile beyond the field stone wall
It's not hard to get lost if you want to
Too far from the city to see the white lights
I move in the shadows under cover of night
Too far from the highway to blow a flat tire
So I stare in the ashes in the fire
Well John Saint Paul is a well known man
Of wealth in his skyscraper palace
He likes his old Cadillac prepped for long drives
I don't like how he looks at my Alice
I work his garage with a wrench and my glove
Bring the stench of his gasoline home to my lovе
She swears once again shе has all she desires
As I stare in the ashes in the fire
One day late last week when I got the word
The boss needs his Caddy all steady
I remembered his eyes all over my wife
As I carefully got my tools ready
What a terrible shame, should he ever break down
With me on his trail, and so far from town
If his brakes were to fail, if he blew out a tire
And I stared in the ashes in the fire
Well John Saint Paul is a well-known man
Of wealth in his skyscraper palace
He likes his old Cadillac prepped for long drives
I don't like how he looks at my Alice
I don't like how he looks at my Alice

Billy Strings official bio:
Michigan-born and now Nashville-based, Billy Strings is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician, who arrived on the scene as “one of string music’s most dynamic young stars” (Rolling Stone). Strings is in the midst of a triumphant year after winning Best Bluegrass Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards for his critically acclaimed record, Home. Produced by Glenn Brown, the record also led Strings to top Billboard’s 2020 year-end charts in both Bluegrass categories-Top Bluegrass Artists and Top Bluegrass Albums-and continues to receive widespread critical acclaim. Of the release, The Associated Press proclaims, “it is his creative musical storytelling, paired with solid vocals on Home that should seal the deal, pleasing fans of the genre and creating some new ones…the perfect blend of pure talent and pluck,” while The Wall Street Journal declares, “Billy Strings has clearly emerged as a premier guitar flatpicker of this era.” Since his debut, Strings has been awarded Guitar Player of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Awards, selected as one of Rolling Stone’s “New Country Artists to Know” and performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and PBS’ “Bluegrass Underground.” Known for his electric live shows, Strings will continue his extensive headline tour throughout 2021 including upcoming shows in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Austin, Atlanta and Nashville among several others.

Official Show Announcement:
Toward The Fun(ds): A Concert Benefitting Camp Winnarainbow
On September 29th, Steve Earle hosts an intimate songwriters circle, inviting Emmylou Harris, the Mastersons, and a surprise musical guest to gather in support of Camp Winnarainbow-a circus & performing arts haven for young people, founded in 1975 by Hippie icons Wavy Gravy and Jahanara Romney. Join us in celebrating the transformative role Camp Winnarainbow has played in the lives of generations of young people with this special night of music.
The Mastersons are singer-songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Chris Masterson and Eleanor Whitmore. Longtime members of Steve Earle's band, the married musical twosome make inspired albums of their own humanistic songs.
Toward The Fun(ds) will support Camp Winnarainbow's future providing performing arts education and leadership skills to children. For over 40 years, kids, teens and adults have run away to join the circus at Camp Winnarainbow in the beautiful hills of Mendocino County. Campers learn performing arts skills like trapeze, juggling, clowning, unicycling, stilt walking, and songwriting. - Видеоклипы
This is the type of solo material I crave from Billy. I love all the Dead covers, and the bluegrass shredding, and the rock-ish stuff, but acoustic instruments, around strong lyrics, and simple, and strong melodies, it is MAGiC
Word
AMEN ☝️
This is the Billie I love
Exactly it makes me cry every time I watch and hear this and IN the Morning Light!
Billy is such a great song writer
Billy is an old soul with wisdom beyond his years.
Awesome! Had all those legends on stage on stage looking at him too! No fear!
I remember when Jackson was younger than Billy is now.
We may be old but we know good music .
Two ladies backing him were phenomenal.
Definitely talking about his lady (Allie) ....this is unbelievable. Blessed to have seen him before he got big and present. Legend in the making
I LOVE this song! Its mournful minor-key melody, its clever incremental repetition, its plaintive musings, its haunting refrain -- only a troubadour makes such music. ["Troubadour" comes from the French "trouvere," "to find." A troubadour finds and shapes the stories which touch us all.]
I love how humble this kid is to he gives me hope for the feature for the first time in a long time
This one caught me off guard someone is cutting onions somewhere , it’s such a beautiful song
Going to see him in Dublin in December 22.
Will be amazing to see probably the best acoustic guitarist alive,
youll need a new pair of dancing shoes. have fun, its a party!!!!
Glasgow in December for us❤
Just saw him in Oklahoma City in October. Was on the front row. What a concert!
You won’t be disappointed.
Best acoustic guitarist alive is a very large stretch. Look up Cody Kilby, he took the award for best guitarist of 2022, billy and Molly Tuttle were runners up.
I saw him in Manchester, fucking insane
Stumbled on another video of Billy, and now searching you tube for more. Stunning.
He's very proud of that song and I reckon its a masterpiece too. Love the humanness of Billy's love and honour of people, life and integrity.
Got to love a good ol' murder ballad. Great work Billy!
Awesome Tune !
Dig the the way he finished and sat there in the moment enjoying the expression on Jackson Brown's face !
Pure Pleasure 🐐✨
What an amazing haunting song
Loving Billy Strings, like him on stage with my favorites, Jackson and Emmylou, who I’ve loved since I was a teenager in the 70’s, and Steve Earle who I listen to on his Outlaw Sirius show. Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell are some of my favorite musicians, so glad Billy is getting to play with Jackson a lot this last year. I love “I Don’t Like The Way He Looks At My Alice “, such a great Americana song ❤❤❤❤
Billy Strings is just sooo goood ❤️❤️
Billy Strings, Jackson Browne and Steve Earle. WoW!? Now that's a what I call a songwriters convention! Excellent!
And in the company of such epic word masters! Billy is a poet, a storyteller, a magnetic presence onstage, a great muscisian...but those words!
I’m absolutely floored. Watch me take this views to a million in a week
I've already put a good 40 in two days
Thank you so much for filming this and sharing it. I imagine that whole show was amazing! 🎵
Thanks Mary Ellen! It was indeed an amazing show. If you're curious, I gathered my other videos from the show in a RUclips playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLwdc0qZNx0tbzrIzUAa23O_acPXB1ZmZS.
🥀Beautiful Song amazing lyrics, soothing vocals and music!🥀☝️
That was very much like a folk song.
Yes, and?
As Billy once said, "It's all just music man."
Channeling a little bit of Doc Watson.
Bravo
Jerry Garcia was known to do "folk music."
Emmy Lou is impressed big time.
They all were , as an i ! 🐐✨
Young man, you're in some of the greatest company that's ever been on a stage !! And without a dought you're becoming great as well, one song at a time !!!!
Outstanding Billy 💥👍💥

BMFS 🤟🏽
Lots of love and respect for Billy, but I must say I'm glad you included the lyrics in the liner notes for the video. Me hearing "I don't like how he looks at my ass" just didn't sound right...
North country blues , BD
You're right. I wonder where Dylan got the tune from......
Definite Townes Van Zandt vibes on this one.
"It's not hard to get lost if you want to..."
Early in the fall back deep in the woods the first hint of frost is upon you

I don’t like how he looks at my Alice
Wonder what Steve was saying to emmylou at the end there
Is this song on Spotify?
Would've love to see his show at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo this week, but $156 for General Admission floor seats is too salty for me. Hey Billy, next time play at the State Theater.
Maybe change the last line from "I don't like how he looks at my Alice" to I don't like how he looked at my Alice.
Who's the dude with the black guitar on the left?
Steve Earle "Copperhead Road"
with the white hair is Chris Masterson
And the fiddle player is Mrs Masterson. They’re part of Steve Earle’s band and also The Mastersons solo.. or duo, lol.
Is that Steve Earle sitting up there?
Yep! Good eye. Steve Earle was the lynchpin of this charity concert, and did a bunch of his own songs. You can see all the videos I shot here: ruclips.net/p/PLwdc0qZNx0tbzrIzUAa23O_acPXB1ZmZS.
Billy is acting strange here
