In US news and current events today, ICE stopped Bena Apreala, a Black man, while jogging in his Boston, Massachusetts, neighborhood, sparking outrage among officials.
Bena Apreala, a 29-year-old father and real estate agent, was jogging when he said two SUVs with tinted windows approached him. Apreala recorded the end of the interaction. Apreala said the officers did not identify themselves before questioning him about his identity. However, ICE disputes this claim.

@@cat-vv9xb we don’t know if it was already confirmed. They are doing their job and it’s fair for them to ask to see the tattoo if that’s a key description of the person they are looking for. I am not saying I agree with anything else, but asking to see the tattoo is a very rightful and smart move in their career.

They're agents, so, there's a higher level of high horsery. There is probably some discretion to their duty despite the obvious lack of it in their actions.

Lived in Boston most of my life and I know a lot of white Europeans who are illegally living in the USA. How many are being pulled aside in the streets and had to show any kind of ID?

As a black man, im speaking for them all. We all been through fit the description even tho you give them your id. Theyll still run a background check and search the person or vehicle until they can find something. Once They dont find anything, the fit the description line comes into play altho they should have a picture or a name
So you stop every black man until you find the right one. What is this country coming too. Why wouldn't you have a picture to identify the person you are looking for. That's common sense. Oh we don't use common sense anymore.

What I'm wondering is: why did ICE think their wanted man would be casually going out for a jog? And why did they think they could catch the guy by just patrolling the area? How stupid can you be?
Yup, and by stopping the wrong guy in broad daylight in what looks like tactical gear, now the whole neighborhood knows that ICE is looking for someone... seems like they blew their own investigation.
Well I agree it was a little extra but jogging is a good cover for a criminal. Have you seen the escaped man who convinced a cop he was jogging and got free? So the premise that a criminal would not pretend to be a jogging guy is wrong. That said, it isnt right to just get any random black man and suspect him.

I wish it was standard practice for officers to apologize to anyone they wrongfully accuse just based on profiling and provide printed proof of the description that led to the encounter.
If they played nice with the neighborhood maybe they’d have helped them. But the mistrust is costing everyone. 😔

yeah, the officers look very committed. Understandable, they want to solve a task they got and want to feel useful and beneficial. Now they only also need to understand, that they don't contribute to a better society, if they "wreck the good dinnerware", while solving their tasks.
Edit: Sometimes i feel sorry for these guys. They appear driven and restless and i can relate to that to some degree. Maybe too much beatings in a rough childhood. Still that's no excuse for escalating things.

The part I find the most infuriating in this video is once he’s told he’s free to go, the officer wants to inflict One last injury via white supremacy by asking him about his tattoos. He was free to go at that point, but he wanted this black man to feel violated by showing his tattoos… How do we know those tattoos won’t later implicate him in a supposed crime in the future? They could use those tattoos against him later, saying that a woman who saw these tattoos was “raped“ by this black man. Bothers me so much. Classic white supremacy.
