Stephen Merchant has to be one of the quickest and wittiest people I've ever seen or heard of. As much as I love Gervais I do miss the bite that Merchant appears to have brought to their collaborations. I know some people can't bear him, especially on the XFM shows/Animated series/podcasts but personally I feel that he is responsible for some, in fact many of the funniest moments, stories and retorts/comebacks of all those early shows as well as his world-class comedy writing and is under rated.
All compliment each other perfectly. Their xfm shows and the podcasts are legendary. Never get old. Timeless. Shame they went their separate ways but their work still keeps me entertained regularly. Weird innit
He wasn't underrated by anyone, he was, is, and always will be massively appreciated within the RSK shows. Underrated doesn't mean great, it means under rated. He is near universally acclaimed among fans of these shows - this is the opposite of underrated. Well technically overrated is the opposite, but as we're talking semantics I should probably acknowledge that.
@@RiC_David he’s a lot more funny than Ricky yet somehow didn’t go on to have as good as a career as Ricky, a lot of people actually don’t like Steve during the RSK times but I think he carried the show a lot of the time he is so quick witted and great comebacks that often go un noticed because Ricky loved the sound of his own voice so much 😂😂
This is my favourite interview/video recording of the 3 of them. So chilled out and such a relaxed environment. Really feels like listening to them have a chat in a pub.
@@HavenBear yeh agree that's his salary, but he has stood up to him when needed. He must have found hard to look other way when being bullied, but guess he knew it was just for podcast cos these interviews they give him more credit and Respect.
They should organize a "this is your life" for Karl which is based on the podcast/radio. Could have the rough looking baby, Auntie Nora, the horse that the neighbors had and the big headed lads as guests. "...well she's here tonight...Scruffy Sandra!" etc etc
when i first saw The office i never knew Gervais had such a high pitch laugh , when i watched the dvd extras there was a little of it , THEN i watched the ricky gervais show
Maybe it's just me but... I've always thought Karl's major talent is holding his laugh, even when he exaggerates and makes fun of himself. Karl explaining how he laughed at the lady pushing a pram pretty much testifies of him having a higher intelligence then this trio would ever admit.
He laughs all the time - I always think it's daft how they always say he never laughs. He's pissing himself all the time on those early XFM shows. :) He is good at not laughing though, you're right.
Matthew Stephens he only laughed at first. There's a notable cut off point where he completely stops laughing. Probably from being broken by the other two
I think he only laughed once in S3, didnt laugh at all in S4, and didn't laugh in the podcasts once. He did laugh a couple of times in the Idiot Abroad stuff, yes, but he definitely stopped laughing as often after S2 of Xfm. Definitely doesnt laugh 'loads' either
I can't go around counting his laughs - I just know that he laughs all the time. Obviously not when Ricky is trying to make the XFM shows hell for him - they're my favourite ones. hahaha
My absolute FAVORITE Karl moment is any time they get him to talking about the weirdest things and he always goes two or three sentences in before giving the same laugh and stopping himself. It has been over 10 years. He still falls for it.
What Karl mentions at the end (something is so cute you want to squeeze it's head) is an actual thing people experience. It's not just Karl being Karl...for once lol.
Yeah, agree! I would love it to. But when I meet 2 great mates of mine who writes a lot of comedy like me. We have these insane discussions like these great fellows and we laugh just as much.Im thinking about recording it the next time we meet and put it on YT?

Yes i totally agree!
Amen!
I've always thought the same!!
To get the best out of each of them all three need to be involved. Absolutely a magic combination.
Spot on!
All compliment each other perfectly. Their xfm shows and the podcasts are legendary. Never get old. Timeless. Shame they went their separate ways but their work still keeps me entertained regularly. Weird innit
Hopefully one day they'll reunite even if its just a one off
1.10 is one of the funniest Steve moments. I love it when he manages to steal the show a little.
He's so quick witted, I'm surprised he's not been on more panel shows
Even Karls Smile. You can tell he even thinks Steve is Funny he just won't fully say it. Ricky is pretty amazed how witty Steve is
I just love the way Karl looks at the other two, such amazement in his eyes.
Eyes bulging with imagined riches...
Steve was so underrated in this trio
Definitely not
Definitely
So so underrated

The way they both look at the back of his head in the last minute shows you how perfect of a trio they are
I could listen to these guys all day long and not get bored. miss this trio!
I hope you've heard all the XFM material.
I love the little ways Karl gets back at them: insinuating that Stephen is a freak and such
Yea, but he never has a go at Ricky!
@@HavenBear yeh agree that's his salary, but he has stood up to him when needed. He must have found hard to look other way when being bullied, but guess he knew it was just for podcast cos these interviews they give him more credit and

@@Januaryastral He knows Ricky is his bread and butter!
Karl does have a pop at Ricky on occasion, saying he looked a mess and complaining about how lazy and annoying Ricky is
Love how Karl is suddenly like what the fuck am I talking about. :D
"Why are we talking about this?"
Sums up their entire 10 years together.
Imagine new podcasts:'(
I wish, but I doubt it would ever happen.
I know sad times

"We tried bringing in the pet magpie, but it flew away"
Nobody would sit next to scruffy Sandra
9:00 when Ricky starts to panic when Karl starts spouting-off some really weird shit
looks more like he’s aroused by it
that was pretty leftfield from karl, they did look quite spooked by it
Ricky's comedic acting at 09:11 of being uncomfortable is so funny.
9:34 is incredible. The pause after he says ‘I don’t know if I’ve got extra sensitive ones’ is absolutely genius.
Eyes that pop out of their head...Steve.
karl's grin @ 8:39 is so innocent and so pure. god bless that man!
Every interview, literally every interview, podcast they do i laugh out load at least three times, fantastic!
This is the funniest clip of these three I've seen / heard for a while!! They need to do a series 3 like this
The reason Ricky is king is at 9:07 when he smiles sort of in a worride way at the camera, it´s just brilliant!
Well the signature state at the camera. It's effective but he also loves setting that up
These 3 are like water fire and air. I love them all so much they are so important
1:11 gets me every time
5:42 Steve thinking about "if only I had a pound for every download" LOL
4:25 😂 the stare back 😂
I think Ricky is a bit dunk in this. Definitely a good drunk
Awwww, Karl looks so happy when Ricky's saying that they probably would've been mates!
"When they're not fighting crime."
lol Gotta love Steve.
From 0.50 to 1.20 is why I love Steve haha.
And they were talking about the kids with big heads in 2001!
The kids with big heads were first mentioned in like 2002! still going on about them 10 years later haha.
When Karl is talking about squeezing a kitten, Ricky turns into Derek for a few seconds!! 🤣🤣
2006? Kids with big heads who didn't hang around together because that would've been too obvious were first mentioned on the 16th of February 2002.
I love how at 9:10 when Karl's demonstrating squeezing a kitten's head, Ricky and Steve look up with that "can you edit that out?" face. XD
Wow this is like the last time they were all together. The mention of Steve and The Office hints at disagreements about their next project
Seeing Karl smile is the best thing EVER!!!
9:03 Cuteness inspires aggression
i love this interview because karls in a really good mood
“Karl goes ‘oh let’s not do anything, I’ve got some grouting to do.”
"when your also at school
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA"
"Isnt you who said youd like to slap a baby?"
"NO, not slap that makes it sound really bad, just hit the back of its head"
LOL
quality, absolute quality!
I love when Steve looks at the back of Karl's head when he's talking about the shape of a baby's head. Haha
when i first saw The office i never knew Gervais had such a high pitch laugh , when i watched the dvd extras there was a little of it , THEN i watched the ricky gervais show
Cannot truly articulate how much I miss these people together. Wish Ricky and Steve could reconcile and we’d have world peace
why do I never get bored of the kids with big heads, or auntie nora or the woman in kwik save nicking biscuits? Genius! :)
This is on my bucket list, to just sit in a room with these three and listen to them talk lol
this is almost my favourite interview. "when you're also at school"!
God I miss this
steve is very under-rated. I love the way they all have different kinds of humour, but they all work well together
Karls in a good mood in this one.
These three are almost better than the old top gear trio
Karl can't hold eye contact with Steve 😂
Maybe it's just me but... I've always thought Karl's major talent is holding his laugh, even when he exaggerates and makes fun of himself. Karl explaining how he laughed at the lady pushing a pram pretty much testifies of him having a higher intelligence then this trio would ever admit.

I can think of loads of times he laughs during XFM right through to Idiot Abroad and the promos for Idiot Abroad.

It has been over 10 years. He still falls for it.
1:07 "Always ways of making friends at school.....when you're also at school not when.." so quick witted is Merch 😆
Even when silent Karl's mouth is constantly open. The hallmark of gormlessness.
I like it when Karl smiles, it makes a nice change
I love that @ 8:58 both Steve and Ricky look at the back of Carl's head.
The last 5 seconds 😂😂😂
Thank you kind sir
Ricky is the happiest person on earth....to a great extent thanks to Karl....
I don't know who would dislike this it's brilliant... and I don't think babies or kittens use youtube
9:03-08 ricky's reaction and awkward smile got me laughing big time
Love Karl he is so funny 😀
They're just the best. How cool would it be to hang out with these three?
that first minute 20 is gold... I love Steve :)
You're watching the Michael Jordan of comedy who only picks up the ball when he feels like it... or needs a new kitchen...
Love the last sentence!
"Whose the one with all of the porn mags? Would of been me". Karl: "That's true" hahaha, Karl's little comments are the best!
Stephen at 9:12 LOL!!
the kitten bit at the end rickys face 9:11! FUCK ME THATS FUNNY LOL
the animation is perfect....-.-....
What Karl mentions at the end (something is so cute you want to squeeze it's head) is an actual thing people experience. It's not just Karl being Karl...for once lol.
Karl having a go at Steve makes me so happy.
Ricky and steve's faces at 9:11 = priceless
my bucket list... sit in that room with these 3 and talk like this
i love rickys smile at 9:04
Does anyone else find thay are always watching karl? I hardly looked at the other two watching this.
From nine minutes onwards ricky turns into david brent haha its magical!!
Ricky's laugh gets me every. Single. Time.
Yeah, agree! I would love it to. But when I meet 2 great mates of mine who writes a lot of comedy like me. We have these insane discussions like these great fellows and we laugh just as much.Im thinking about recording it the next time we meet and put it on YT?
The way ricky looks at the camera at 9:11 .. looks demented haha!!
Haha Fair play - don't know how I missed that!
These 3 together just make comedy
Odd remark but I love how much effort Karl puts in to hiding the bulmers logo when he takes a drink
Still the best trio of all time. One day these guys will be back and it will be fucking glorious ❤️
Lets write an amazing show like the office. You can tell Steve's like yeah man we could have a bunch of good projects out
hahahaha this is great, cant believe I didn't see this earlier
"When they weren't fighting crime"
XD
Stephen: Who would be the one with all the porn mags?
Karl *whispering*: Yeah that's true.
I died laughing.
It's so nice just these 3 having a drink and chatting shit, so entertaining to watch, stephens little jokes are underrated also
"A little private moment for me to see" lol
that was a good birthday present when he first mentioned that
Sounds like an international newspaper headline.
Is Ricky wearing that jacket for a bet?
LOL, Karl at 1:03: "That's true..." he's a bit drunk, I think. XD
I don't think Steve gets enough credit. Ricky is undoubtedly hilarious, but personally I think Steve is actually funnier... or at least wittier
Ricky is the engine, Steve drives.
is this in slow motion?
This clip is actually funnier than the podcasts.
Did you not hear the porn mags joke? I nearly spat my drink out.
