Grateful that the other was "safe" and alive. But the realization struck them both. "What are you doing here? Why are you still alive?" "You took the words right out my mouth... My dearest angel." Both stood just feet away as they stared into the eyes of each other. Their love was still there, but it was covered in pain and grief. They were too far gone to be able to feel once again. Soon they started laughing, laughing, and smiling away the pain, shock, and loss that they will have no choice but to kill each other off, but for what reason? They could never truly know. An interesting thing about Hozier is he produces from different perspectives. This song is written from a female perspective, however the music video depicts two men in love. Another example is his song “Cherry wine” I believe is the name, it’s about an abusive relationship. The music video shows a woman being abused, however I’m pretty sure the lyrics come from a male being abused.

Three words were all it took to describe fallen angels such as themselves. They had grown in one of the nation's biggest Kingdoms, which parted into two after conflicts. Going into war for many years, the males turned from childhood friends to lovers and even enemies. All in all, their story will never come to meet a happy ending.
Both males were to serve the now separate kingdoms. Preparing for years worth of battle, hoping to get sweet "revenge" for each other's supposed "death" as they thought. They had gone through the hell of a journey to be disappointed yet grateful. Grateful that the other was "safe" and alive. But the realization struck them both.

Both stood just feet away as they stared into the eyes of each other. Their love was still there, but it was covered in pain and grief. They were too far gone to be able to feel once again.
