I served in Afghanistan, Kunar province, back in 2010-2011. This one particular incident happened during one of my platoons OP guard duty rotations. One night, me and two other soldiers were doing our routine surveillance of a near by road, just down the hill from our Outpost. In our NVG nods (Night Vision goggles) we could clearly see a young kid a Shepard walking four goats up the road. All three of us saw it. Until I removed my goggles and noticed that the person walking the goats was only visible through our NVG's. The Night was pretty clear, and although it was dark, you could still easily see the silhouettes of the goats. But there was no body else. We could clearly see him with the goats through our goggles, but as soon as we would take the goggles off, he would vanish. Goats were there, but that's it. No person. But with goggles he was clearly visible. Until this day, none of us who witnessed it, could explain what it was, or what we saw that night. But all three of us seen the same thing. I still get the goosebumps, just talking about it.
It could have been a gohst. Night vision goggle capture light outside of visible spectrum right? So, as matter of fact, it must be something there... I don't think goats walking in a orderly fashion without something Shepparing them... Same applied to regular camera. The CCD or COMS can capture things nake eye did not see at the time.
I was in Badghis Province in 2011, and my friend and I both experienced some really weird stuff. His radio would die and turn back on it’s on, and I would hear foot step coming up the tower, but when I would turn around no one is there. I also saw a figure of a person sitting on the steps next to me at night, when I was outside taking a piss. The figure was darker than night and it scared the shit out of me.

Having spent a year of my life in southern Afghanistan, I can vouch that there is a constant, eerie presence in the quiet of the night. It's like nothing I've ever felt and many others will describe something similar.
Both L.A. Marzulli and Steve Quayle have interviewed team members who captured the giant. Their videos are on RUclips. All involved were ordered to sign NDA's. Very scary. I knew a Russian who defected in the early 90's. He fought in Afghanistan. His captain met them on patrol and asked why they slept outside of the caves, under cover of vegetation. They told the captain they heard strange sounds at night. The captain called them "p@$$/$" and slept in the cave. He was never seen again. Russian had thought it was the Afghan women at first, but they learned there were things in the caves that were no joke.

Plus we would have to be EXTREMELY lucky to find exactly the right images from exactly the right angles in exactly the right situations with exactly the right people. We use google images as a reference, but every single image is drawn from scratch.
I was deployed last year too Afghanistan in Helmand province, I worked the night shift and we had weird stuff happen. We had a blue light appear one night reported by one of our security posts and than just flew off , we called it in and no drones or anything was in the area. Fact that it was also mentioned in this story gave me chills
Did you ever look straight up in the night sky with nods? That's a hell of a thing. The sky is alive. I new a grunt in Helmand. He and his buddy were off base and walking down a shit hole street looking for someone and they watched a guy with a turbin on walk straight up a wall and stand sideways on the wall talking to himself. They stopped and watched him. After a m ok moment, he walked back down to the ground and turned and looked at them. They said he gave them the deadliest look and that he thought the guys eyes were glowing red. They had the worst feeling,like he wanted to kill them so bad. They both felt sick. The guy turned and walked away down the alley. They never reported it.
My cousin fought in Afghanistan in the Russian Army. He was ranked major. He claimed the same thing, weapon problems, whispering, weird lights and phantom footsteps. One of the young lieutenants was king hit and knocked out senseless. When they were pulled out after 5 years of hell, he reported to his commanding officer who showed him a rather bulging dossier of the same supernatural events. Everyone was instructed to keep quiet about the whole thing.
I was in southern Kandahar back in 2011, and I've heard of lots of these stories before, stories of hauntings and mass grave sites and jinns and such. But my only experience with this was seeing shapeless figures and them disappearing when you look at them with night vision goggles, hearing Pashtun whispers behind you only to turn and see nothing, or my personal favorite of hearing footsteps in the rochs behind you on late night watch duties. I never had an experience like this when I was well rested so I've always attested it to sleep deprivation, especially after the night I almost killed everyone in my truck when an oak tree ran across the road in front of me. This episode really resonated with me though even if I'm not a superstitious person, it made me think of those nights fighting sleep and getting the heebie jeebies only to laugh at myself later lol.

That place has an evil air about it & I've experienced my fair share there. There are voices in the night that beckon soldiers out into the desert. Guys disappear only to be found later disfigured miles & miles away from their last confirmed position. I've seen entire villages pick up & move in a day due to being attacked by what they called the Djinn. Besides that I have to believe that there has to be a reason that chunk of desert has been fought over for thousands of years besides it's resources.
This is by far is my favorite one! I was a marine who served in the scout sniper platoon in Afghanistan 2008 - 2012, we operated mostly at night for days far from base. Fatigue plays tricks on you especially with night vision goggles. There was times when I almost open fired on a bush, but kept telling myself that it was just a bush. When the wind blew at it, it freaked me the fuck out. Usually at night you want to keep superstitions away from your mind. I am glad I watched this years after I was discharged.
My friend’s father has been to Afghanistan and claims he has seen a human like sand creature walking around. Through his scope he saw the creature was made out of sand. It disappeared behind a dune after a few minutes of watching it from about 150 meters. He was with 4 other men who saw the same thing. He was told to forget what he has seen. He’s now retired and he almost always brings up this story when asked about his experience in Afghanistan.
He had buried himself in the sand to hide and attack, but chickened out and just got up and started walking away, sand falling off forever out of the outfit.
Observation Point Rock sits a few hundred metres south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, Helmand province. Lots of Russians where executed there by extremists in the 1980's. Its elevation has clearly made the Rock a natural defensive position for centuries. It is perhaps not entirely a rock, though it resembles one. Medieval arrow slits and the remains of fortified turrets on its eastern flank show that this was once a large mud fort that collapsed in on itself and was probably built upon in turn. The locals say that it dates back to Alexander the Great, and another similar structure is visible in the distance to the south, part of a supposed line of such forts built at some point in Afghanistan’s history of invasion and war.
I met this guy at my job recently who served during the gulf War and he spoke to me of this camp they got posted at where he told me they knew some people had been executed and he told me a lot of people said they saw shadows He told me that him and his friend saw a shadow person while shaving once and another time while outside at dusk
At 8:15, I wondered “if you are on guard duty and you see something/someone, aren’t you supposed to immediately report it?” The next morning, we showed this to my father, a US Marine from 1964-67. The first thing he said in that segment: “wait a minute. Unless things have changed a lot in the past 50 years, you are supposed to call for an approaching person to halt, call the Corporal of the Guard, and demand the unknown person identify themselves. You don’t engage, walk away from your post (ever) go back to base and ask to be transfered...unless you want to be transferred to the jailhouse.”
Case in point: General Orders I will guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved.I will obey my special orders and perform all my duties in a military manner.I will report violations of my special orders, emergencies, and any thing not covered in my instructions to the commander of the relief.
I was thinking the same thing. I will say that Sleep deprivation is one hell of a drug LOL. I've "seen" some pretty weird stuff after a few days of very little rest whilst on piquets and sentry positions. At night time without night vision equipment there is a phenomena with your eyesight where stationary objects can appear to move. The best way to second guess that is to look slightly away from where you were originally looking and allow your peripheral vision to pick up anything. 9 times out ten that tree stump or rock you swore waved at you or moved goes back to being a tree stump or rock. It's that tenth time you go through your challenge procedure or actions on. If I ever had a sentry leave their position cause they got spooked it better be for a real threat. Like I said, I've seen weird stuff on those duties myself but a rub of the eyes and the old tricks mentioned, all the "spooky" stuff went away. I would never leave my position unless relieved by the oncoming sentry or if SHTF. No ghost stories from me LOL.
@@TheMichaelStott nah at observation point Rock some marines would see tracers and flares going off at night but hear no gunfire and occasionally hear Russian phrases like Врожай оружие some translators got the rundown on the areas history and basically it was a mass grave of Russians from the invasion of Afghanistan the Mujahideen captured a bunch then executed them in the 80's as shown by some left behind equipment... guess the fighting never stopped...
My father comes from Ghazni, where he grew up in the 1950s-60s. There are many stories of seeing apparitions,or seeing dead bodies rise from graves, etc and children getting sick as a result of seeing them. Its almost a part of everyone's childhood stories...
When my father died, twenty years ago, I was beside him, in our house. I began to feel inexplicably a presence of light, but I didnt know how or why: something outside me but belonging to me felt (actually: did see) a sort of aggregate of light. And that went on a whole week! When telling my mom about my feelings, she mocked at me, and she kept kidding me like that along a few years, until she stumbled into a tv show, where a woman told her own story, as if she was telling mine.
When some guys came back from deployment I immediately picked their brains on if they experienced anything crazy and this one team I talked to consistantly talked about how their team "hut" was haunted. They determined that by the age of the building it was around in the time of the russian invasion. They always heard strange female voices in a different language and the female on the team's chair would occassionally roll away when she wasnt in the building. The final straw for one guy was when he was skyping his wife and they both heard banging in the other room. My friend thought the team was pranking him so he went to investigate only to find out that they went for food about 30 minutes prior to the banging and he was alone in the hut.
I was on a late night gurd shift in Oman, guardshack was in the middle of the desert. About 400 meters outside a small training complex, and a mile from a lonely highway. Flat sand and small rocks from horizon to horizon. Fall, windy, dead quiet. I started hearing unintelligible whispers that drove me and my buddy crazy. Real creepy sounding, at the perfect line between distinct whispers but unable to parse out words. I'd look around the shack and scan with my NOD's, but nothing. I eventually figured out that the wind was coming from the outpost, and I later saw that there were a couple Omani guards stationed at the front gate. Most likely explanation is that under ideal circumstances, the wind can do really strange things to voices.
As an afghan myself I personally encountered many similar incidents for example in my close family members are possessed by these entities and as night falls they began to act so weird and super frightening. Believe me, just a week before I heard my 5 year old nephew saying to his father that he saw a man entering the home and later the child saw the same figure walking past the first section of our home to the second. I have numerous more of these chilling stories.
Ah spooky. I'm sorry you go through that. My family were from very haunted regions too we had paranormal things such as shadow people and objects being thrown around our home. We believe they're demons so we try to pray for them to be banished.
Did you ever consider that there was a man coming and going ? We had my grandma CONVINCED that there was a ghost but it was just a very sneaky homeless man breaking in frequently.
As former military myself I've met special forces guys and they are deadly professionals. They do not have shared delusions or flights of imagination. If they say they've encountered something then that's what they encountered. Period.
I’ll have to ask my son. We don’t typically discuss his experiences, as most are classified and he can’t. Now you have me curious about weird encounters that he may or may not have experienced. I never considered this before. How any of you are sane after some of the nightmares of war and odd encounters is beyond me. Although I was medivac’d to Madigan around mid-2000, and the flight nurses almost checked me into the psych unit, not realizing it wasn’t the surgical ward. Good thing their policy was to accompany patients to their rooms as my surgeon said that there was no way I would have come out of the psych unit alive. My heart just breaks for those soldiers so adversely affected by the Long Wars.
I would just like to point out that Afghanistan is not a desert though mostly very arid. Though there are desolate areas, there's also forests and the terrain can fluctuate wildly, which is one of the reasons why variations of multicam have become so widely adopted, because it can go from relatively lush forest to arid desert in a heartbeat.
I've heard people feeling unnerved in the mountains before and usually a day later someone is attacked by a mountain lion or predator. Your unconscious can pick up on things your consciousness can't. I don't know if Afghanistan has any larger predators but out in the wild it's often a sign some predator is tracking you.
THE predator. You don't have to worry about a damn thing if you're prepared, stalk the night. But the second you hear that predator clicking. All bets are off and you are FUCKED🤣 for real tho. Hold your nerve. Unconscious can show you a few things if you're out of touch with yourself. Otherwise it's called observstion
People don't understand the level of fear, dread, and terror these things inspire. I know I didn't, not until I experienced it myself. It is NOT comparable to being in fear of your life, which is what I always associated it with. Logic would indicate "mortal fear" must be the LIMIT of fear. However, that's like saying "humming" is the same as singing at an opera. When you encounter these entities, whether they are real or psychological hallucinations, it's as if you INSTINCITVELY BELIEVE they have the power to inflict IMMENSE ETERNAL TORMENT upon you. That's the level of fear they inspire, an eternity of damnation. Like, they can drag your soul and consciousness away to a place where there is no escape, and the ONLY THING you know is a level of pain and agony you've never dreamt possible.
Unrelated to this war, but on the topic of 'military horror' / ghost stories I just came back from a WW2 re-enactment weekend where I had the pleasure of being a crew member for a Douglas C-47 Skytrain, the Drag 'em Oot, that flew 82nd Airborne into Normandy on the night prior to D-Day landings. The pilot was sadly killed when a flak round penetrated underneath him and exited through the cabin roof, above the right window - he still walks the plane each night. Me and my buddy, Mike slept in each end of the plane for the weekend so we could be up on time for public and VIP photographer groups who were very eager to start early. As I was just falling asleep I remember pulling my sleeping bag over my head as it had suddenly gotten very cold, which I thought was normal because I was closest to the door, which is when I heard footsteps approaching me, but figured it was my friend going to pee. I didn't move as I was tired and didn't want to be having a conversation at 3am, however the footsteps then went back towards where they came at the nose of the plane. Twice it sounded like my buddy had paced up and down the interior, and so I shone my torch and as I did, so did my buddy Mike - there was nothing, but the cold. My buddy called out and asked what I was doing and I asked him if he had heard footsteps, to which he said yes, we immediately figured out what we were dealing with, and when my friend said "it's okay buddy, were here to look after the plane" it slowly got warmer and warmer. I looked over my shoulder as I typed this as I've never experienced anything like it.
FOB Solerno was one of the strangest places I’ve ever been to. There were a few Afghan soldiers there that would never go near certain areas they deemed “cursed”.
I've read some of the comments, and some take it as a joke. It's not.. I've seen and heard things that nobody on my team could explain. With multiple deployments, there are things that I've seen that no one should ever have to be subjected to. Now that I'm out, I still talk to my buddies daily. We still have things happen that we can't explain or account for. People would think that we are crazy if we told some of it. But I honestly feel like something came home with us. We all have similar things happen from time to time. So don't think it as a joke or mind tricks. It's very real. But what it is, I have no fucking idea.

The Marines at the Rock weren't the only ones that experienced eerie shit there. Allegedly, the British unit they relieved at the post acted strangely and seemed to be in a hurry to get the hell out of there, though they didn't mention anything out of the way happening there.
I remember when I was in Afghanistan, talking with an FMF Corpsman, about Iraq and some of the weird stories guys had come back with. He had one of his own. Apparently, the Marines he'd been with, were in a village which looked abandoned. He wouldnt tell me why there were there, but he went on that it just got super quiet, "Which was really weird, because it was already pretty quiet out there in the middle of the desert, UT this 'felt' quiet... Like compressed." So they all look at each other and shoot into a tactical formation, expecting to get ambushed. At this point. While looking around to see movement before such a thing would happpen, he notices a guy on one of the rooftops. Kind of on the edge of the roof, with his foot up on it and leaning into it. As per him (He looked shaken as he was relaying this, so I'm a little inclined to indulge him), the guy was like a charcoal color, "Kind of like the one from The Two Thrones game, but he wasn't all smooth and gold." He said where a guy would have muscles, it was kind of like that, like his chest or abs, but sort of like plates, with the space between them being like when you see lava, where it's black but the breaks are neon orange. Except, instead of orange, it was black. "Like the guy was on fire, man... That black color, but it looked like he was on fire with it." At first, he tried to blink him out of sight. Then rub his eyes, yet the "Guy" was still there. He then tried to get the attention of a Corporal who was closest to him, so as to confirm that he was losing his mind. Turning to get him, but when he turned back, the guy was still there in the rooftop. By the third time he tried to get him, he grabbed the guy and turned back, the guy on fire was gone. He'd said that whenever he's anywhere and it gets super quiet, he looks for that guy. Even at home and hunting in the woods, "Years later, I still expect him to show up on one of the branches or something."

I believe these stories have credibilty. During the first Gulf War, i was at the Kuwait- Iraq border. A lot paranormal occurrences took place. Things going missing/being moved, weird radio traffic and even orbs.
Red haired giants were reportedly found throughout the United States and many Native Americans have oral history of them and tales of fighting with them.

I read a book back then that said these giants were cannibals and the Paiute almost drove them to extinction but some managed to hide in caves. They pursued them there and smoked the cave entrances to drive them out or blocked some passages. And in Bernal Diaz's memoir as one of Cortes conquistadors, one of tribes told him that cruel giants once ruled over the land but they decided rebel and killed them. The natives hid their bones and showed it to the conquistadors. Bernal Diaz said that the thigh bone was as tall as he was.

I don't know why, but I find paranormal experiences encountered by soldiers to be the most bone-chilling. I think maybe because they have so much time where they're waiting out there alone in the darkness in unfamiliar territories, and they don't always know what else is out there with them.

I'd love to see a video on just giants from you guys! I've done resurch on their mythology and history and I have yet to find an ancient culture that doesn't have stories about them. There are cowboy accounts of finding their mummies in caves and countless stories all over the world. Both the Anasazi Native Americans and the Phrygians of Ancient Turkey built underground city's into the cliffs, and both mythologies say it was to escape getting eaten by giants. (Also, red hair is a pretty consistent description)
I live in South- East Europe and we have stories of them. Some even say that they built cities inside mountains to hide and that they might still be there. They were pretty tall and supposedly escaped even the big flood somehow.
We know, we never said it was in Afghanistan :-) We talk about the 3rd Infantry Brigade, which was stationed in Mosul, carrying out support actions in Afghanistan.

We never once said Mosul was in Afghanistan. Everything in this story is set in Afghanistan. Mosul was very briefly referred to in order to state where the 3rd Infantry Brigade was from. We said that elements of the 3rd Infantry Brigade, stationed in Mosul, were deployed to assist in Afghanistan. That is not the same as saying "Mosul is in Afghanistan." Seriously, it really isn't that hard to understand.

Aye, I agree. If you are going the do a sidestory in a different location, you should always tell where that location is. In this example: Mosul, Iraq. Do not expect that everyone knows Asian or Middle East geography. Otherwise, great story as always :)

(And excellent supportive sketches too!) When you engage this much true talent: research; expository writing; narration; original artwork & editing/captions, you do not need to resort to any type of hype (loud music, flashy special effects) to produce a top-level program! I was on the “rock” in 2008 with USMC infantry till the Scots took it over. We named it the rock because someone really liked quoting Shawn Connery in the the movie “The rock” spent lots of nights guarding that place. Had an amazing vantage point, basically the highest point in the entire Garmsir district. We did find old pieces of pottery and such left over from who knows what empire while digging our positions atop. Nothing notable happened while we were there on or near the rock other than some Taliban blowing themselves up while laying in a huge (biggest I’ve seen in my 2 tours) IED an hour before our scheduled patrol towards that direction. We always had a fire team to a squad up there but the Scots had a much smaller unit taking over. I could imagine it being nerve wrecking I’m sure. I was very much careless those days I probably wouldn’t have noticed a ghost if it whispered into my ear.
My brother-in-law has been to Afghanistan and Iraq both with the military since 2007. He said it was definitely a scary place to be. Thank you for your hard work for real. 😇👌😇👍😇
Yet Afghanistan used to be on the Hippie Trail in the 1960's early 1970's...and was considered a relatively safe place to be ...[some old vids of those days on YT.. some rather sad though as some took to potent drugs and died.
Very entertaining stories but all I can say from my military experience is sleep deprivation is one hell of a drug. I've stayed up for a couple of days and nights and oh boy! Once I saw Kermit the frog coming right for me LMFAO! Personally the most scariest stuff that happens on deployments is what happens between humans, but these were pretty good stories to tell around a camp fire.

For me, this is the creepiest subject of all in the paranormal genre. A lifeless place where more blood has been spilled than any other battleground. What more could an evil incorporeal being want? There are plenty of courageous victims provided by corrupt governments - brave, dutiful people who would rather be anywhere else but there.
There was SO MUCH more blood shed in places like France during the first world war. I'm sure many have died over the years in Afghanistan, but the numbers don't come anywhere close to the numbers of dead during WW1

Havent watched the video yet but the title made me remember this cool story - I was in Infantry School for the Marine Corps and my instructors were all Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. They'd share stories with us about their experiences deployed all the time. This one guy told us how he was manning a machine gun in an armored column out in Iraq. They'd been out there for a long time just basically waiting in the desert. He hadnt slept in a while and said suddenly this big ass lizard crawled up out of a hole in the ground. He said it was huge, like the size of a dog. He freaked out and it scampered back down into the earth. No one really believed him and he didnt see it after that. It's not really paranormal, but I thought it was worth sharing. Couldve been some rare undiscovered species. He claimed he didnt hallucinate it either. I was in Helmand back in 2011, I never experienced things of this nature. However, there was always a weird feeling standing post at night, or going out at night. Looking through NVG’s at the stars always showed some weird shit that I just shook off as my eyes not being able to pick up on. Weird feelings ands sounds would happen every so often. Glad I made it out
Desert's tend to solve problems on their own, as if the collective desert has an intelligence all their own. Sometimes they use humans or animals, but then sometimes they do it themselves. Long ago I read a big novel about some adventures in Afghanistan in the late 1940s. In it an Afghani man told an American journalist near a campfire a legend. According to it, when God banished Cain for his murder of his brother Abel, yet provided the first murderer with a sign to protect him from being killed himself by any other man, Cain traveled far away, but finally settled in a place which is now called Afghanistan. He found a wife there and fathered several children, thus populating the place. Also that Afghani man predicted to the American than sooner or later Russians would come to conquer Afghanistan. The paperback novel was very long (maybe 300 pages in small font) and published in the late 1950s or early 1960s. It seem the author was a good geopolitical forecaster.

Was in Iraq in '08. Guarded an interrogation facility. Built, as the story goes, on a mass grave. Saw a few ghosts. Could be sleep depro. Also saw Killroy peering around a door. I have a friend who is Arab and lives in the Middle East. We had a lovely conversation regarding Jinns, ethereal beings that take over humans and then the person is supposed to be able to do incredible things. My friend thought that Rasputin had a Jinn and that's why he was able to do miraculous things and was so hard to kill. The dude (monster) described sounds a bit like Rasputin, tall, hairy, smelly, hard to kill. Jinn (Arabic: الجن, al-jinn), also Romanized as djinn or Anglicized as genies (with the more broad meaning of spirits or demons, depending on the source), are supernatural creatures in early pre-Islamic Arabian and later Islamic mythology and theology.

As usual, the artwork is astounding! Something about this story and the accompanying artwork evokes something primal in me.. The idea of a bunch of young men being deployed to a foreign country that is completely alien to them, watching the perimeter of their base at night, awakens that 'adventure' sentiment in me. Yes, war is horrible, but something about my mental image while envisioning all of this evokes a sort of romanticized 'adventurous' sentiment about embarking of their journey(s).. 😵 That part of the world is very old, with an incredibly rich history, and it just 'does something' to my psyche.. 😄 Thank you for this, BTS! Infrasound seems like it might explain some of these encounters, as it can produce hallucinations, uncomfortable sounds, and a feeling of intense fear, anger, or other extreme emotions. That would be my theory for the encounter at the village -- that or a conspiracy, which is more likely imo. Consider: the squad went in to capture and extract the target and executed them instead, perhaps even killing civilian non-combatants. The US military has a bad habit of covering up the extent of civilian casualties by labeling them deaths of enemy combatants or accomplices to terrorists. In Afghanistan, especially in remote regions like this, relations between occupying forces and civilians are incredibly strained -- soldiers come to view civilians as just as bad as the insurgents, claiming that they are complicit or that they aid terrorists in order to justify air strikes intended to flush out enemy fighters. Communities are occupied by armed insurgents and then blamed for it by the occupying military. Civilians become resentful and sometimes radicalized by the military's lack of distinguishing between them and enemy forces, and it becomes a vicious cycle. So let's say the unit goes in to extract the target, the operation goes wrong, and they kill him and his entourage along with civilian casualties. These people are all lumped in with the "entourage" and staged to be found the next day. The squad claims to have heard the Taliban fighting, thus putting the deaths of the target, his entourage, and any civilians on the enemy . This is a well-documented counter-insurgency tactic used since the mid-20th century by occupying forces to turn locals against insurgents. The paranormal elements only come in later as they expand on their story and the existing rumors about supernatural sightings come into play. Perhaps the military/intelligence encourages or even spreads the disinformation about paranormal elements to keep people from looking too closely into a botched operation. Or perhaps there's room for both theories, if infrasound provoked extreme emotions or hallucinations leading to poor decisions. I think people do awful things under that amount of stress, but that they also could have not had malicious intentions and honestly fcked up. They would have needed to cover their mistake to prevent further fracturing the relationship w/locals. You 100% need the people on your side for effective counter-insurgency. Anyway. I agree. Infrasound is one of my favourite theories when considering reports of hauntings and the like. I always research the area looking for electrical sub stations, railways, overhead cables, even underground streams or tunnels. Very interesting. 👍

It would explain quite a lot - especially the evident flaw in the "beloved" infrasound-theory that the effects of infrasound differ from individual to individual. Yet the same apparations are not seldomly seen by quite a few people all at once or repetitively over time.

Reminds me of a documentary series I saw on History Channel back in the early 2010s about a platoon of Marines in Iraq during 2008. They went into an abandoned building (I think it was an abandoned school) during a patrol since they suspected it was being used as a weapons cache and because the locals always avoided the building. The Marines felt as if they were being watched and felt a sense of dread despite the lack of insurgents in the building and the lack of any suspected weapons caches. It turned out Saddam Hussein's soldiers slaughtered a large group of Kurdish women and children in the building during the 80s and the locals avoided it because they thought it was haunted.

I served in Afghanistan, Kunar province, back in 2010-2011. This one particular incident happened during one of my platoons OP guard duty rotations. One night, me and two other soldiers were doing our routine surveillance of a near by road, just down the hill from our Outpost. In our NVG nods (Night Vision goggles) we could clearly see a young kid a Shepard walking four goats up the road. All three of us saw it. Until I removed my goggles and noticed that the person walking the goats was only visible through our NVG's. The Night was pretty clear, and although it was dark, you could still easily see the silhouettes of the goats. But there was no body else. We could clearly see him with the goats through our goggles, but as soon as we would take the goggles off, he would vanish. Goats were there, but that's it. No person. But with goggles he was clearly visible. Until this day, none of us who witnessed it, could explain what it was, or what we saw that night. But all three of us seen the same thing. I still get the goosebumps, just talking about it.
It could have been a gohst. Night vision goggle capture light outside of visible spectrum right? So, as matter of fact, it must be something there... I don't think goats walking in a orderly fashion without something Shepparing them... Same applied to regular camera. The CCD or COMS can capture things nake eye did not see at the time.
I was in Badghis Province in 2011, and my friend and I both experienced some really weird stuff. His radio would die and turn back on it’s on, and I would hear foot step coming up the tower, but when I would turn around no one is there. I also saw a figure of a person sitting on the steps next to me at night, when I was outside taking a piss. The figure was darker than night and it scared the shit out of me.

Both L.A. Marzulli and Steve Quayle have interviewed team members who captured the giant. Their videos are on RUclips. All involved were ordered to sign NDA's. Very scary. I knew a Russian who defected in the early 90's. He fought in Afghanistan. His captain met them on patrol and asked why they slept outside of the caves, under cover of vegetation. They told the captain they heard strange sounds at night. The captain called them "p@$$/$" and slept in the cave. He was never seen again. Russian had thought it was the Afghan women at first, but they learned there were things in the caves that were no joke.

I was deployed last year too Afghanistan in Helmand province, I worked the night shift and we had weird stuff happen. We had a blue light appear one night reported by one of our security posts and than just flew off , we called it in and no drones or anything was in the area. Fact that it was also mentioned in this story gave me chills
Did you ever look straight up in the night sky with nods? That's a hell of a thing. The sky is alive. I new a grunt in Helmand. He and his buddy were off base and walking down a shit hole street looking for someone and they watched a guy with a turbin on walk straight up a wall and stand sideways on the wall talking to himself. They stopped and watched him. After a m ok moment, he walked back down to the ground and turned and looked at them. They said he gave them the deadliest look and that he thought the guys eyes were glowing red. They had the worst feeling,like he wanted to kill them so bad. They both felt sick. The guy turned and walked away down the alley. They never reported it.

My cousin fought in Afghanistan in the Russian Army. He was ranked major. He claimed the same thing, weapon problems, whispering, weird lights and phantom footsteps. One of the young lieutenants was king hit and knocked out senseless. When they were pulled out after 5 years of hell, he reported to his commanding officer who showed him a rather bulging dossier of the same supernatural events. Everyone was instructed to keep quiet about the whole thing.
I bet any military force that sent troops to Afghanistan in the last 100 years will have a dossier of these things! 🙈
I was in southern Kandahar back in 2011, and I've heard of lots of these stories before, stories of hauntings and mass grave sites and jinns and such. But my only experience with this was seeing shapeless figures and them disappearing when you look at them with night vision goggles, hearing Pashtun whispers behind you only to turn and see nothing, or my personal favorite of hearing footsteps in the rochs behind you on late night watch duties.
I never had an experience like this when I was well rested so I've always attested it to sleep deprivation, especially after the night I almost killed everyone in my truck when an oak tree ran across the road in front of me. This episode really resonated with me though even if I'm not a superstitious person, it made me think of those nights fighting sleep and getting the heebie jeebies only to laugh at myself later lol.

That place has an evil air about it & I've experienced my fair share there. There are voices in the night that beckon soldiers out into the desert. Guys disappear only to be found later disfigured miles & miles away from their last confirmed position. I've seen entire villages pick up & move in a day due to being attacked by what they called the Djinn. Besides that I have to believe that there has to be a reason that chunk of desert has been fought over for thousands of years besides it's resources.

This is by far is my favorite one! I was a marine who served in the scout sniper platoon in Afghanistan 2008 - 2012, we operated mostly at night for days far from base. Fatigue plays tricks on you especially with night vision goggles. There was times when I almost open fired on a bush, but kept telling myself that it was just a bush. When the wind blew at it, it freaked me the fuck out. Usually at night you want to keep superstitions away from your mind. I am glad I watched this years after I was discharged.
My friend’s father has been to Afghanistan and claims he has seen a human like sand creature walking around. Through his scope he saw the creature was made out of sand. It disappeared behind a dune after a few minutes of watching it from about 150 meters. He was with 4 other men who saw the same thing. He was told to forget what he has seen. He’s now retired and he almost always brings up this story when asked about his experience in Afghanistan.

Observation Point Rock sits a few hundred metres south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, Helmand province. Lots of Russians where executed there by extremists in the 1980's.
Its elevation has clearly made the Rock a natural defensive position for centuries. It is perhaps not entirely a rock, though it resembles one. Medieval arrow slits and the remains of fortified turrets on its eastern flank show that this was once a large mud fort that collapsed in on itself and was probably built upon in turn. The locals say that it dates back to Alexander the Great, and another similar structure is visible in the distance to the south, part of a supposed line of such forts built at some point in Afghanistan’s history of invasion and war.

The next morning, we showed this to my father, a US Marine from 1964-67. The first thing he said in that segment: “wait a minute. Unless things have changed a lot in the past 50 years, you are supposed to call for an approaching person to halt, call the Corporal of the Guard, and demand the unknown person identify themselves. You don’t engage, walk away from your post (ever) go back to base and ask to be transfered...unless you want to be transferred to the jailhouse.”
And normally the guard has the authority to use deadly force if the challenge is ignored

I was thinking the same thing. I will say that Sleep deprivation is one hell of a drug LOL. I've "seen" some pretty weird stuff after a few days of very little rest whilst on piquets and sentry positions. At night time without night vision equipment there is a phenomena with your eyesight where stationary objects can appear to move. The best way to second guess that is to look slightly away from where you were originally looking and allow your peripheral vision to pick up anything. 9 times out ten that tree stump or rock you swore waved at you or moved goes back to being a tree stump or rock. It's that tenth time you go through your challenge procedure or actions on. If I ever had a sentry leave their position cause they got spooked it better be for a real threat. Like I said, I've seen weird stuff on those duties myself but a rub of the eyes and the old tricks mentioned, all the "spooky" stuff went away. I would never leave my position unless relieved by the oncoming sentry or if SHTF. No ghost stories from me LOL.
@@TheMichaelStott nah at observation point Rock some marines would see tracers and flares going off at night but hear no gunfire and occasionally hear Russian phrases like Врожай оружие some translators got the rundown on the areas history and basically it was a mass grave of Russians from the invasion of Afghanistan the Mujahideen captured a bunch then executed them in the 80's as shown by some left behind equipment... guess the fighting never stopped...

My father comes from Ghazni, where he grew up in the 1950s-60s. There are many stories of seeing apparitions,or seeing dead bodies rise from graves, etc and children getting sick as a result of seeing them. Its almost a part of everyone's childhood stories...

When my father died, twenty years ago, I was beside him, in our house. I began to feel inexplicably a presence of light, but I didnt know how or why: something outside me but belonging to me felt (actually: did see) a sort of aggregate of light. And that went on a whole week! When telling my mom about my feelings, she mocked at me, and she kept kidding me like that along a few years, until she stumbled into a tv show, where a woman told her own story, as if she was telling mine.
When some guys came back from deployment I immediately picked their brains on if they experienced anything crazy and this one team I talked to consistantly talked about how their team "hut" was haunted. They determined that by the age of the building it was around in the time of the russian invasion. They always heard strange female voices in a different language and the female on the team's chair would occassionally roll away when she wasnt in the building. The final straw for one guy was when he was skyping his wife and they both heard banging in the other room. My friend thought the team was pranking him so he went to investigate only to find out that they went for food about 30 minutes prior to the banging and he was alone in the hut.

I was on a late night gurd shift in Oman, guardshack was in the middle of the desert. About 400 meters outside a small training complex, and a mile from a lonely highway. Flat sand and small rocks from horizon to horizon. Fall, windy, dead quiet.
I started hearing unintelligible whispers that drove me and my buddy crazy. Real creepy sounding, at the perfect line between distinct whispers but unable to parse out words. I'd look around the shack and scan with my NOD's, but nothing.
I eventually figured out that the wind was coming from the outpost, and I later saw that there were a couple Omani guards stationed at the front gate. Most likely explanation is that under ideal circumstances, the wind can do really strange things to voices.
Thumrait is kinda eternally creepy. Salala was bangin!

As an afghan myself I personally encountered many similar incidents for example in my close family members are possessed by these entities and as night falls they began to act so weird and super frightening.
Believe me, just a week before I heard my 5 year old nephew saying to his father that he saw a man entering the home and later the child saw the same figure walking past the first section of our home to the second.
I have numerous more of these chilling stories.
Ah spooky. I'm sorry you go through that. My family were from very haunted regions too we had paranormal things such as shadow people and objects being thrown around our home. We believe they're demons so we try to pray for them to be banished.

As former military myself I've met special forces guys and they are deadly professionals. They do not have shared delusions or flights of imagination. If they say they've encountered something then that's what they encountered. Period.

I’ll have to ask my son. We don’t typically discuss his experiences, as most are classified and he can’t. Now you have me curious about weird encounters that he may or may not have experienced. I never considered this before. How any of you are sane after some of the nightmares of war and odd encounters is beyond me. Although I was medivac’d to Madigan around mid-2000, and the flight nurses almost checked me into the psych unit, not realizing it wasn’t the surgical ward. Good thing their policy was to accompany patients to their rooms as my surgeon said that there was no way I would have come out of the psych unit alive. My heart just breaks for those soldiers so adversely affected by the Long Wars.
I would just like to point out that Afghanistan is not a desert though mostly very arid. Though there are desolate areas, there's also forests and the terrain can fluctuate wildly, which is one of the reasons why variations of multicam have become so widely adopted, because it can go from relatively lush forest to arid desert in a heartbeat.

I've heard people feeling unnerved in the mountains before and usually a day later someone is attacked by a mountain lion or predator. Your unconscious can pick up on things your consciousness can't. I don't know if Afghanistan has any larger predators but out in the wild it's often a sign some predator is tracking you.
THE predator. You don't have to worry about a damn thing if you're prepared, stalk the night. But the second you hear that predator clicking. All bets are off and you are FUCKED🤣 for real tho. Hold your nerve. Unconscious can show you a few things if you're out of touch with yourself. Otherwise it's called observstion
People don't understand the level of fear, dread, and terror these things inspire. I know I didn't, not until I experienced it myself.
It is NOT comparable to being in fear of your life, which is what I always associated it with. Logic would indicate "mortal fear" must be the LIMIT of fear. However, that's like saying "humming" is the same as singing at an opera.
When you encounter these entities, whether they are real or psychological hallucinations, it's as if you INSTINCITVELY BELIEVE they have the power to inflict IMMENSE ETERNAL TORMENT upon you. That's the level of fear they inspire, an eternity of damnation. Like, they can drag your soul and consciousness away to a place where there is no escape, and the ONLY THING you know is a level of pain and agony you've never dreamt possible.
Unrelated to this war, but on the topic of 'military horror' / ghost stories I just came back from a WW2 re-enactment weekend where I had the pleasure of being a crew member for a Douglas C-47 Skytrain, the Drag 'em Oot, that flew 82nd Airborne into Normandy on the night prior to D-Day landings. The pilot was sadly killed when a flak round penetrated underneath him and exited through the cabin roof, above the right window - he still walks the plane each night. Me and my buddy, Mike slept in each end of the plane for the weekend so we could be up on time for public and VIP photographer groups who were very eager to start early. As I was just falling asleep I remember pulling my sleeping bag over my head as it had suddenly gotten very cold, which I thought was normal because I was closest to the door, which is when I heard footsteps approaching me, but figured it was my friend going to pee. I didn't move as I was tired and didn't want to be having a conversation at 3am, however the footsteps then went back towards where they came at the nose of the plane. Twice it sounded like my buddy had paced up and down the interior, and so I shone my torch and as I did, so did my buddy Mike - there was nothing, but the cold. My buddy called out and asked what I was doing and I asked him if he had heard footsteps, to which he said yes, we immediately figured out what we were dealing with, and when my friend said "it's okay buddy, were here to look after the plane" it slowly got warmer and warmer.
I looked over my shoulder as I typed this as I've never experienced anything like it.
FOB Solerno was one of the strangest places I’ve ever been to. There were a few Afghan soldiers there that would never go near certain areas they deemed “cursed”.
The Afghan locals should know... I heard even the Jihadis also would rather steer clear of certain areas of the hinterlands as well...

It's not.. I've seen and heard things that nobody on my team could explain. With multiple deployments, there are things that I've seen that no one should ever have to be subjected to. Now that I'm out, I still talk to my buddies daily. We still have things happen that we can't explain or account for. People would think that we are crazy if we told some of it. But I honestly feel like something came home with us. We all have similar things happen from time to time. So don't think it as a joke or mind tricks. It's very real. But what it is, I have no fucking idea.

The Marines at the Rock weren't the only ones that experienced eerie shit there. Allegedly, the British unit they relieved at the post acted strangely and seemed to be in a hurry to get the hell out of there, though they didn't mention anything out of the way happening there.

I remember when I was in Afghanistan, talking with an FMF Corpsman, about Iraq and some of the weird stories guys had come back with. He had one of his own.
Apparently, the Marines he'd been with, were in a village which looked abandoned. He wouldnt tell me why there were there, but he went on that it just got super quiet, "Which was really weird, because it was already pretty quiet out there in the middle of the desert, UT this 'felt' quiet... Like compressed."
So they all look at each other and shoot into a tactical formation, expecting to get ambushed. At this point. While looking around to see movement before such a thing would happpen, he notices a guy on one of the rooftops. Kind of on the edge of the roof, with his foot up on it and leaning into it.
As per him (He looked shaken as he was relaying this, so I'm a little inclined to indulge him), the guy was like a charcoal color, "Kind of like the one from The Two Thrones game, but he wasn't all smooth and gold." He said where a guy would have muscles, it was kind of like that, like his chest or abs, but sort of like plates, with the space between them being like when you see lava, where it's black but the breaks are neon orange. Except, instead of orange, it was black. "Like the guy was on fire, man... That black color, but it looked like he was on fire with it."
At first, he tried to blink him out of sight. Then rub his eyes, yet the "Guy" was still there. He then tried to get the attention of a Corporal who was closest to him, so as to confirm that he was losing his mind. Turning to get him, but when he turned back, the guy was still there in the rooftop. By the third time he tried to get him, he grabbed the guy and turned back, the guy on fire was gone.
He'd said that whenever he's anywhere and it gets super quiet, he looks for that guy. Even at home and hunting in the woods, "Years later, I still expect him to show up on one of the branches or something."

I don't know why, but I find paranormal experiences encountered by soldiers to be the most bone-chilling. I think maybe because they have so much time where they're waiting out there alone in the darkness in unfamiliar territories, and they don't always know what else is out there with them.

Both the Anasazi Native Americans and the Phrygians of Ancient Turkey built underground city's into the cliffs, and both mythologies say it was to escape getting eaten by giants.

I live in South- East Europe and we have stories of them. Some even say that they built cities inside mountains to hide and that they might still be there. They were pretty tall and supposedly escaped even the big flood somehow.

When you engage this much true talent: research; expository writing; narration; original artwork & editing/captions, you do not need to resort to any type of hype (loud music, flashy special effects) to produce a top-level program! And you have done so consistently. Congratulations on producing videos which manage to be truthful, thoughtful, more than a little scary(!) & written for those of us who cherish high quality writing. I was on the “rock” in 2008 with USMC infantry till the Scots took it over. We named it the rock because someone really liked quoting Shawn Connery in the the movie “The rock” spent lots of nights guarding that place. Had an amazing vantage point, basically the highest point in the entire Garmsir district. We did find old pieces of pottery and such left over from who knows what empire while digging our positions atop. Nothing notable happened while we were there on or near the rock other than some Taliban blowing themselves up while laying in a huge (biggest I’ve seen in my 2 tours) IED an hour before our scheduled patrol towards that direction. We always had a fire team to a squad up there but the Scots had a much smaller unit taking over. I could imagine it being nerve wrecking I’m sure. I was very much careless those days I probably wouldn’t have noticed a ghost if it whispered into my ear.
My brother-in-law has been to Afghanistan and Iraq both with the military since 2007. He said it was definitely a scary place to be. Thank you for your hard work for real. 😇👌😇👍😇

Very entertaining stories but all I can say from my military experience is sleep deprivation is one hell of a drug. I've stayed up for a couple of days and nights and oh boy! Once I saw Kermit the frog coming right for me LMFAO! Personally the most scariest stuff that happens on deployments is what happens between humans, but these were pretty good stories to tell around a camp fire.

Havent watched the video yet but the title made me remember this cool story - I was in Infantry School for the Marine Corps and my instructors were all Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. They'd share stories with us about their experiences deployed all the time. This one guy told us how he was manning a machine gun in an armored column out in Iraq. They'd been out there for a long time just basically waiting in the desert. He hadnt slept in a while and said suddenly this big ass lizard crawled up out of a hole in the ground. He said it was huge, like the size of a dog. He freaked out and it scampered back down into the earth. No one really believed him and he didnt see it after that. It's not really paranormal, but I thought it was worth sharing. Couldve been some rare undiscovered species. He claimed he didnt hallucinate it either. Swears it was real, needless to say he got some sleep after that

I was in Helmand back in 2011, I never experienced things of this nature. However, there was always a weird feeling standing post at night, or going out at night. Looking through NVG’s at the stars always showed some weird shit that I just shook off as my eyes not being able to pick up on. Weird feelings ands sounds would happen every so often. Glad I made it out

Desert's tend to solve problems on their own, as if the collective desert has an intelligence all their own. Sometimes they use humans or animals, but then sometimes they do it themselves. And sometimes they use the ghosts and phenomenon that are theirs uniquely.
She's a harsh mistress, but loving if you respect her.

@TheNewyorkdragon Soldiers across the world and throughout time are known for weaving these kinds of stories. If you ask most veterans 90% of the time they were bored off their asses, that's when these stories come into being. Too bad the 10% is what you end up carrying with you.

Thank you. Stories about modern weapons that symbolize the pinnacle of technological advance versus ancient or not so ancient evil are among my favorites... Long ago I read a big novel about some adventures in Afghanistan in the late 1940s. In it an Afghani man told an American journalist near a campfire a legend. According to it, when God banished Cain for his murder of his brother Abel, yet provided the first murderer with a sign to protect him from being killed himself by any other man, Cain traveled far away, but finally settled in a place which is now called Afghanistan. He found a wife there and fathered several children, thus populating the place. Also that Afghani man predicted to the American than sooner or later Russians would come to conquer Afghanistan. The paperback novel was very long (maybe 300 pages in small font) and published in the late 1950s or early 1960s. It seem the author was a good geopolitical forecaster.

I have a friend who is Arab and lives in the Middle East. We had a lovely conversation regarding Jinns, ethereal beings that take over humans and then the person is supposed to be able to do incredible things. My friend thought that Rasputin had a Jinn and that's why he was able to do miraculous things and was so hard to kill. As usual, the artwork is astounding! Something about this story and the accompanying artwork evokes something primal in me.. The idea of a bunch of young men being deployed to a foreign country that is completely alien to them, watching the perimeter of their base at night, awakens that 'adventure' sentiment in me. Yes, war is horrible, but something about my mental image while envisioning all of this evokes a sort of romanticized 'adventurous' sentiment about embarking of their journey(s).. 😵 That part of the world is very old, with an incredibly rich history, and it just 'does something' to my psyche.. 😄 Thank you for this, BTS! This is probably my favorite so far..

I am not sure where you're getting that. Nephilim were mortal half-angel hybrids who died in the flood. The angels who fathered them were not yet demons, as they hadnt been barred from God's service. All Nephilim are dead, and have been since the flood. Their fathers on the other hand are still kicking, incorporeal and awaiting their eternal destruction.

Infrasound seems like it might explain some of these encounters, as it can produce hallucinations, uncomfortable sounds, and a feeling of intense fear, anger, or other extreme emotions. That would be my theory for the encounter at the village -- that or a conspiracy, which is more likely imo.
Consider: the squad went in to capture and extract the target and executed them instead, perhaps even killing civilian non-combatants. The US military has a bad habit of covering up the extent of civilian casualties by labeling them deaths of enemy combatants or accomplices to terrorists. In Afghanistan, especially in remote regions like this, relations between occupying forces and civilians are incredibly strained -- soldiers come to view civilians as just as bad as the insurgents, claiming that they are complicit or that they aid terrorists in order to justify air strikes intended to flush out enemy fighters. Communities are occupied by armed insurgents and then blamed for it by the occupying military. Civilians become resentful and sometimes radicalized by the military's lack of distinguishing between them and enemy forces, and it becomes a vicious cycle.
So let's say the unit goes in to extract the target, the operation goes wrong, and they kill him and his entourage along with civilian casualties. These people are all lumped in with the "entourage" and staged to be found the next day. The squad claims to have heard the Taliban fighting, thus putting the deaths of the target, his entourage, and any civilians on the enemy . This is a well-documented counter-insurgency tactic used since the mid-20th century by occupying forces to turn locals against insurgents. The paranormal elements only come in later as they expand on their story and the existing rumors about supernatural sightings come into play. Perhaps the military/intelligence encourages or even spreads the disinformation about paranormal elements to keep people from looking too closely into a botched operation. Or perhaps there's room for both theories, if infrasound provoked extreme emotions or hallucinations leading to poor decisions.
I think people do awful things under that amount of stress, but that they also could have not had malicious intentions and honestly fcked up. They would have needed to cover their mistake to prevent further fracturing the relationship w/locals. You 100% need the people on your side for effective counter-insurgency. Anyway. I agree. Infrasound is one of my favourite theories when considering reports of hauntings and the like. I always research the area looking for electrical sub stations, railways, overhead cables, even underground streams or tunnels. Very interesting. 👍
@@borleyboo5613 Why does noone seem to consider that infrasound - while definitely very well capable of enticing said sensations and feelings - might be produced by these entities themselves? It would explain quite a lot - especially the evident flaw in the "beloved" infrasound-theory that the effects of infrasound differ from individual to individual. Yet the same apparations are not seldomly seen by quite a few people all at once or repetitively over time.

Reminds me of a documentary series I saw on History Channel back in the early 2010s about a platoon of Marines in Iraq during 2008. They went into an abandoned building (I think it was an abandoned school) during a patrol since they suspected it was being used as a weapons cache and because the locals always avoided the building. The Marines felt as if they were being watched and felt a sense of dread despite the lack of insurgents in the building and the lack of any suspected weapons caches. It turned out Saddam Hussein's soldiers slaughtered a large group of Kurdish women and children in the building during the 80s and the locals avoided it because they thought it was haunted.
