In Russian, "Chernobyl" means "wormwood," a type of plant which grows in abundance around Pripyat (the city where Chernobyl is located), and which is known for its bitterness. Book of Revelation, chapter 8 "And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter." Incidentally, wormwood is also used to flavor absinthe.
One can only honour the memory of those incredibly courageous men and women who sacrificed their health and later their lives in their attempt to minimize the dangers omitted from the destroyed nuclear power station. If the stories of the "Blackbird" are true, then they are indeed very similar to the "Mothman" sightings in the USA and of the creature allegedly seen in Japan before and after the nuclear power plant disaster which happened there a few years ago at Fukushima. Fact or myth ? Who knows, but are these sightings possibly a variant of the "Grim Reaper" so often allegedly seen at places of great human suffering over millennia ? The description fits to a certain extent. I wonder....!!!
I do wonder how our minds can warp our perspections when disasters be coming. Eitherway, lovely little owls be causing troubles for those with no good sight of them.
The description of the blackbird kind of reminds me of the Slavic god of the night Chernobog. Maybe the intense pressure caused by working at a nuclear power plant caused those residents to see something that resembled a creature described in their folklore.
That actually sounds like a good theory, Donna. Wasn’t the city or area named after Chernobog, I thought I heard? That would be even more coincidental.
Interesting... I'll have to do some research on this. Especially since some of what you've said contradicts other sources. * I've heard a power surge causes the safety test, which was being run properly, to fail and that led to the explosion. * I've never heard reports of the mothman doing anything more than scaring the crap out of people * The mothman was seen for 13 months leading up to the collapse of the bridge As for the hauntings, Chernobyl is exactly the kind of place that would be haunted. Ghost are often of people who die suddenly and/or violently, so if ghosts exist (and I think they do) there are probably a lot of them there.
Well it whould make sense, as the narrator said a LOT of bad things happend in Ukraine, if you have the time try looking up Holdomor, belive me that is far more terrifing then some big black bird...
There was no haunting that happened, at least not in the ghost or spiritual sense. The Mothman and the Black Bird are seen as harbingers of an impending disaster, they aren’t your crawling on the wall Conjuring types.
Bedtime Stories: "There was a mysterious flying creature that appeared in Chernobyl and scared people to death." Anatoly Dyatlov: "Nurse, this comrade has lost his composure!"

It's nice to hear a story like this with a slower cadences , It puts the listener in a place to take a minute and think about what's really happening, So many common men became heros that day. The black bird of Chernobyl to me was a real thing, if it came from a dimension just beyond ours is possible were it came from, I don't know for sure but I feel it was real at a place and event that was nearly unreal to imagine it was happening. They've been uploading a new video every Sunday for awhile now
@@hanhdtle It's still a welcoming sight.
God bless those who lost their lives in this tragic disaster may they R.I.P 🙏😔
Who dat
@@evannlorman7926 WHO DAT 👍
Rest in peace? Their dead you can't get more peaceful than that.
Rest in Plutonium?
@@Beowulf_98 You're a dumbass
The bird may be scary but definitely not dangerous. I've heard it's the equivalent of an x ray.
It's only 3.5 roentgen!
THE NOTORIOUS K.E.K not great, not terrible
@@koala.justakoala4287 you are clearly delusional. Go to the sick bay.
Clever dick!
Blackbird: * Breathes*
Boris: *Look at that! It's a cyka sparrow!*
No. Stop.
That was actually terrible..
😂
This deserves more likes.
Kindly, thank you for the tribute to the people that lost their lives in the tragedy.
The description of the blackbird kind of reminds me of the Slavic god of the night Chernobog. Maybe the intense pressure caused by working at a nuclear power plant caused those residents to see something that resembled a creature described in their folklore.
Donna Pritchard moron
@@appalachiahiker853 WHAT!!
That actually sounds like a good theory, Donna. Wasn’t the city or area named after Chernobog, I thought I heard? That would be even more coincidental.
Appalachia Hiker snow twat.
Chernobog was only a God in West Slavic countries, like Poland and the Czech Republic. Most East Ukrainians and Belarusians haven't heard of it.
Brilliant work Team. Beautifully written, dialogued, and illustrated.
Interesting... I'll have to do some research on this. Especially since some of what you've said contradicts other sources.
* I've heard a power surge causes the safety test, which was being run properly, to fail and that led to the explosion.
* I've never heard reports of the mothman doing anything more than scaring the crap out of people
* The mothman was seen for 13 months leading up to the collapse of the bridge
As for the hauntings, Chernobyl is exactly the kind of place that would be haunted. Ghost are often of people who die suddenly and/or violently, so if ghosts exist (and I think they do) there are probably a lot of them there.
It is black Bird no mothman Comrade same but actually no
Well it whould make sense, as the narrator said a LOT of bad things happend in Ukraine, if you have the time try looking up Holdomor, belive me that is far more terrifing then some big black bird...
Only 2 people died in the actual explosion v:
There was no haunting that happened, at least not in the ghost or spiritual sense. The Mothman and the Black Bird are seen as harbingers of an impending disaster, they aren’t your crawling on the wall Conjuring types.
It’s just a black bird who was near the reactor when it exploded and got radioactive poisoning and mutated
Maybe
But it was there before the nuclear meltdown
The blackbird flown into the reactor maybe ?
Tunnel Snakes
Is ur username the tunnel snakes from fallout?
Yes
In Memorial to the people who lost their lives, and the HEROES of Chernobyl. Never forget them!

I think the new meaning of "dyatlov" should be "something bad is about to happen" 🤔
I think Asian girls like me.
dyatlov pass
A horror story that doesn't need a fictitious monster - dead right on that.
This would actually make for an awesome movie
Bedtime Stories: "There was a mysterious flying creature that appeared in Chernobyl and scared people to death."
Anatoly Dyatlov: "Nurse, this comrade has lost his composure!"
I am absolutely fascinated by Mothman sightings and am keeping up with the over 50 sightings going on around Chicago since 2017. And yet I knew heard of a Mothman like sightings at Chernobyl. Cheers fellas for a video that I was completely unaware of!!!!
Haven't heard about those Chicago sightings before. I'll have to look them up!
Same here.
You didn't see mothman in the air because it's not there. He's delusional. Take him to the infirmary.
he was also seen in japan
Thank you for giving a salute to all those who lost their lives in this tragedy ,as you always do in all of your videos.Thank you.
As for the bird, who knows. The truth is somewhere around reactor 4...
I explode with excitement when I get the anticipated Sunday night notification for bedtime stories!!! 😁😁😁
It's a bad feeling guy when you love stories like these so much that you have heard them all. 😢
Factual inaccuracies of the details of the liquidation itself make this hard to believe.
Really liked the added movement in this one, nice work. And I do like that bit at the end too.
I love your channel I love watching them while am falling asleep in the dark
Me too. Aptly named channel, isn't it ?
I usually watch them with a large Glock on my desk...
Same !
I do both, I fall asleep listening to them with a Glock on my bedside table
I always keep my AR-15 near me when I watch his video
Dyaltlov : You didn't see a bird, Beacuse it wasn't there!!
When you care for people and try to warn them but all you get is a creepy YT video.
Birbman: (->-)
It's the curse of being both spooky and not being able to speak
fluppy bird
Oh don't worry, it was just one of Odin's birds. He likes to keep an eye on things.
@Midnight rider They are effectively the same gods. The differences are just differences because of languages and changes to the religious tales and instruction because of time, language and locations. The southern greek and roman ones are a bit different but whether you speak about irish/celtic gods, germanic/norse gods or slavic gods they are basically all descendants of the same original religion.
no , it was the angel of death , heretic
"...keep an eye on things." I c wut u did thar ;)
Munin and I forget the other crows name
Bruh that ain't no fucking bird!
I love the artwork and the use of the smoke in the first scene. I'm so glad that you've stayed with the black and white drawings. 😻
The HBO memes are already here, I can clock off early.
Spasiba tovarisch.
I love the way you present these stories.
And to you as well. A Cold War Soldier - Officer
No Blackbird Is a Mothman.
I’ve watched all 68 of your videos and I’m hoping you upload more soon. I’ve been waiting for 2 weeks and it’s killing me!
Plant workers: hey did you see that huge bird thing
Anatoly dyatlov: YOU DIDN'T SEE A BIRD YOUR DELUSIONAL
Mothman is often seen before disasters.
He is also seen often by crazy people

Why watch if you have no room for the unknown in your cranium?
Just curious what's the thinking?
@@one_must_keep_a_pencil I may not be speaking for him, but I can tell you why I listen to this stuff even though I know it's not real. They're good stories and that's it, stories. They're interesting to listen to and imagine, but not real. You can enjoy the mystery and intrigue of these types of stories with out believing they're real. People like zombie movies, and tv shows, but zombies aren't real. As an example.
@@colbyherrington3325 You're no different to those who profess to KNOW that these types of things exist. YOU don't know whether they do or don't just like everyone else so dismissing people's accounts of what they've seen can be insulting to their intellect. There is no evidence either way and to assume that there's no such thing makes you and those like you, no better informed.
you never fail to deliver. love this channel
I have been saddened by the chernobyl disaster from the day it happened, I can never rationalise the horror of it but after watching the art work and hearing the narration I actually think I understand parts of it clearer now. And the phrase at the end really caught my curiosity so I looked up what it means and it's lovely thank you for a fantastic film xx

Mothman: Who is this imposter?
I've been watching this channel for a few days now and I can honestly saw that this is now one of my favorites. You have earned a new subscriber! Keep up the good work!
Just reached the end of the current playlist here. And i have to say, you guys did an amaaaazing job with every one of the episodes!
Keep up the great work! Really love this perfect mixture of "documentary" and legend,s ci-fi and fantasy that comes along with all the myths and stuff. In the sense of that open minded but actual research is done on the one side and that the supernatural sometimes simply cant be ruled out on the other hand.
Now i will go and listen/watch the whole series again.
I look forward to Sunday..When we get a new episode..Thank you for all you do! Definitely one of my favorite channels.
Absolutely love these videos!!! This channel should have wayyyyy more subscribers than it does! The content and narration are amazing!!!
Totally agree
Another "Home Run", my friends once again you did not disappoint.
omg the art work !!! just wow, what a grip on light play ... amazing
Scooby-Doo taught me that the real monsters are always humans.
No you got it backwards, in every monster, there’s a human inside
Love this channel , it’s so professional feeling , this is a fantastic video and interesting story , couldn’t think of a better channel to do it so thanks BedTimeStories ! 🙏🏼
What's scary are these episodes where there's a rapid animation mixed into the static scenery. Throws me off every time.
Blackbird: *Appears*
Some Duty member with a machine: *YOU CHEEKIED YOUR LAST BREEKI*
This channel is much better than others that tell about cryptids and urban legends using some stock images or fake videos, the illustrations used are far better and deserves more subs for all the hard work fr.
Nicely written and narrated story.
I found the story line drawings to be excellent , I don't real know how you created the helicopter instrument panel on one of the drawings but it was like you could almost read the gauges,,, like they where backlit as in real life. Hats off to everyone that worked on this story as well as many others, you all take your craft to the next level.
All these recent mysteries having similarities with other mysteries covered by Bedtime Stories
I present to you, the Bedtime Stories Paranormal Universe
Thomas Wong multiverse?
I'd watch that as a Netflix series.
Yeah what are your examples?
Maybe hes just onto something
So the mothman has always been around....love yalls show
Also Look up Nasa Gargoyle, y'alls choice 😁
Hmm, a cryptid one, not bad. Still waiting for the Jersey Devil
Thank you, Bedtime💀Stories! I fell right asleep after watching a few of your videos! Minus the PTSD.
The name of the town is Pripyat, not Chernobyl. Liked the video though.
The closest town is Pripyat. Built for the workers of the plant. The original town is chernobyl. Just a couple of kilometers from the plant and pripyat.
@@themightybalian the plants name was officially Vladimir I. Lenin Nuclear Power Plant. Called Chernobyl because that was the name of the city nearby before Pripyat was built.

Both Sad and Scary. I have heard tales of strange, vengeful spirits who haunt troubled places...
nobody:
mothman after a disaster: told ya so
Of course nobody said anything. They're gone.
Hes a good guy he trys to scare people away before shit goes down they just never listen
Worker: What about the blackbird?
Dyatlov:(sigh) call the fire brigade!
Much better than 99.9 percent of television. Thank you so so much.
I come from eastern europe. Born around the time of the incident. Many people died of cancer that year. Kids too, I understand from my parents that a lot of them were born malformed during that time.
Anyway, I never heard of this 'blackbird'. Really cool bedtime story! Thanks for the awesome video.
But but but - Dyatlov! Goose bumps on top of Mothman chills.
