If it wasn't for Tarja, I wouldn't have loved Nightwish the way I do. Before Anette and Floor, Tarja's voice with Tuomas's writing captivated me. It was so different.
That happened to me as well, that combination cannot be replaced. It was magical, perfect and extremely powerful

Tarja's throaty voice and sometimes nervous Vibrato are a turn-off. She's a limited classical singer..She not a Rock singer. She always sounds the SAME. In a way, she Fakes it. I'm glad NIGHTWISH moved on from her.

@@jack15390 Both are great but Floor is just more versitile. Still Tarja owns some songs. But Floor most of them.
It’s crazy to hear that a singer like Tarja did not feel confident in her voice in spite of being so darn good. In my opinion, that’s what perfection looks like.
Maybe because that wasn't her comfort zone.
She had and has a Good classical voice....But she's not an exceptional operetic singer.

First time I heard her was in Wishmaster from a cousin of mine. I think thats my fave because of the nostalgia and how awesome they sounded to me at that moment of my life
I love Once, but I might prefer Century Child, but just a tad. Both just incredible albums
Oh yeah. The Phantom of The Opera. The huge duet revived 18 years later.
Century Child is my fav
The album version was underwhelming compared to the live version. They should've re-recorded the song with Floor and Marco before he left NW but Marco's vocals now are very tamed as well. Hopefully they do a studio version with Hank.
Beauty of the Beast is IMHO up there with Ghost Love Score, Poet and Greatest Show... unfortunately they didnt play it live for 20 years...

I did notice her start to experiment with different vocal styles on Once and I was loving it. Definitely a shame they couldn't work out their problems. She was definitely my favorite NW singer and still my overall favorite female singer. I can't wait to hear her new Dark Christmas album!

Very interesting how Tarja didn't feel comfortable til the once album. She's literally the blueprint for this style of singing.
I think what she meant is that on the albums before Once she was singing mostly with the same operatic sound. Kind of hiding behind that powerful voice and not exposing herself truly to the performance. On Once she started using more different kinds of colors in her singing, really singing what the music needed and what she feels. A bit kind of what Floor is doing nowadays with Nightwish, really expressing her feelings through singing.

Her voice is so amazing that she’s almost in a league of her own. When she did “Paradise(What About Us?)” with Within Temptation it was like a dream come true for me. Sharon and her were incredible together. I do miss her singing together with Marko.

After 2005, complete bullshit (2007-2011) was still okay, but after 2012, it's complete bullshit. Me? Personally, Tarja is a queen of metal. Not only symphonic metal, all types of metal. Sharon den Adel is another angel of symphonic metal, Amy Lee is a goddess of gothic metal and nu metal, Cristina Scabbia, another powerful voice of gothic metal and alternative metal... I have a lot to say.

I completely agree. This period in Tarja’s voice was perfect. She’s gotten better technically speaking since then, but there’s a sort of magic in Tarja’s voice from Once and next from Tarja’s early solo albums. I’m not a huge fan of her chest voice, I think it’s over darkened and sticks out compared to the rest of her voice. She was experimenting more in the years 2005-2012 and I’d say that’s about when I think her voice sounded the best.
Once really feels like the culmination of Tarja-era Nightwish. Everything clicked into place.

Where is the law written, that it is not possible to talk about Nightwish without comparing the singers? There is no need to and it is neither expedient. Just enjoy the compositions.
It makes me sad how with this album she felt like she could finally breathe, be herself sound-wise and not worry so much, looking forward to having fun, only to have the rug pulled from under her feet. What an awful feeling that must have been. I love Tarja and I love Tuomas, I could never choose between the two of them or their music. Thank God I didn't have to as she continued onto her solo career.
Tarja became a Diva in her mind so TUOMAS & Group helped her Out the door. Her Career NEVER RECOVERED. Today...she is always asked about her Former Best Years. Sad for her....BUT for the Rest of Us.... GODDESS FLOOR 💫🔥😍 saved NIGHTWISH & NW us NOW more Popular than Ever! 💥💯
I mean, back then she'd told the band she'd be doing one more album with them at most, so.
that doesn't justify how they did thing not only with her but with Annette too, take that and how marco told us he had trouble with alcohol ( as other member did too at the time just check their backstage videos) and you will realise that all her "diva" behavior was just to take care of here and put distance to their toxic lifestyle. Toumas was a prick and i hope he change and mature a little with the years, thx god Floor will never let them do something like this, as she already showed with the last christmas situation@@felixmarques
@@Dulkh4nI like the Annette Era, but from what I understood is that she got pregnant around the time Tuomas already planned the Tour and he didn't want to cancel for her. And when he tried to get a replacement she was against it.

My favourite was actually Dark Passion Play, I know Anette wasn't best vocalist in world then but she suited singing on that album. Anette has improved dramatically vocal wise these days, just listen to her two albums, especially "Strong" the single Lies is beautiful. And she looks more the part now too dress wise. Actually doesn't look too unlike Tarja.🤘🤘🤘🤘

Here's an idea for Toumas; he finds a way to make amends with Tarja, brings her on for a future project, and calls that album "TWICE."
It would make for a great concept album.

Yes, Once is really a very beautiful album. It was the first I ever heard from Nightwish, well, one of my first times hearing Metal in generall. I was just like" Wow, that's freaking beautiful, what kind of music is that!" Made me instantly fall in love with Tarja's voice and that's one thing that never changed for me the last like 20 years.

My dream-my fantasy, would be for Tuomas to have a Nightwish concert which would be the absolute most epic concert of all times.
This fantasy concert would be held at Tampere. It would be fully recorded to Blu-ray and DVD as well as CD and Album.
This event would start out hard with the current line-up. Then, song after song, past members of Nightwish would return to the stage.
Possibilities could see Tarja singing Poet and The Pendulum directly to Tuomas, Annette singing Phantom of the Opera with Marcos and etc.
In my imagination I would love to hear these magnificent singers singing songs they didn't get to sing as Nightwish.
Furthermore, I would love to hear Kai and Jukka doing a drum duet with both Marco and the new Jukka playing bass together!
From the three female singers, we would hear duets and triplets of our favorite songs.
As icing on the cake, as the show ends, after the pics and sticks are passed out to the audiance and after the final bow with all members past and present, Tarja, Annette and Floor would step up to three microphones and perform Ad Astra!
Well, that's my fantasy at any rate. Let we fans know that Nightwish is the sum of it's parts, that THIS is Nightwish!
Nightwish is known for being epic, perhaps the most epic band ever. Well, this would be their most epic concert ever!

Not soprano, she is the queen of the lows. I love Floor, but she will never reach those deep notes like Tarja.
For me it's a toss up between century child and once. This phase of the band was absolute perfection imo. Nowadays they're just a cover band of themselves.
Tarja will always be Warhammer Fantasy to me. Ghost Love Score with that Warhammer I watched way back in the day has stuck with me for a looooong time.

Nightwish was great during the Tarja era, and she was a big part of that, and I really like her solo stuff. That said, I loved the Anette era too, and I think you can guess what I think about Floor, there aren't enough superlatives to describe her. I like all of their albums, although some more than others.

I love Tarja, Anette also had her moments and I also looove Floor. She such an amazing sound. Operatic singing, Metal, Pop and so on, she can do anything.

I believe that FLOOR raises TUOMAS'S songs to their Highest Level BECAUSE she can interpret them with All the Emotions that TUOMAS wanted. FLOOR is Not Limited like Tarja & Annette. FLOOR is Truly a Great Singer & Stage Presence.

Tarja was (still is) an incredible talent! She’s the reason I got into Nightwish in the first place, and she also shows just how damn lucky Nightwish are for capturing lightning in a bottle twice by recruiting Floor, because like Toumos, I considered Tarja irreplaceable at the time

Once is my favorite album with Tarja, but I also have a soft spot for Wishmaster, Oceanborn, and Century Child. Century Child was the first Nightwish album I listened to, and Bless the Child was my first song. I love Nightwish and all three of the lead singers they've had. I'm so glad Tarja and Anette have both kept making music!

And...Tarja has Not artistically evolved; She always sings the Same. Pretty, but Boring. You come to a Tarja video, where the woman speaks kindly about her work with Nightwish, which ended more than 18 years ago, and you only know how to hate on her. DO You think Floor Jansen didn't learn something about singing in the Last 18 years? Of course she did and when she came to Nightwish she was not in the begining of her career, she evolved, just like Tarja did over time. Tarja's solo career is way more diverse than what she did in Nightwish, she is proud of those years with the band But she doesn't want to repeat that sound. Floor can do some things that Tarja cannot do, but Tarja can also easily sing repertoire that Floor cannot touch. Why can't Tarja be proud of the many albuns and genres she embraced (From Rock to Classical to Electronic music albuns) ? She is a complete musician who composes, plays intruments, produces and sings on her albuns, and complimenting her does not take away anything from Floor or any other singer, there is space and fans for All! If you don't like her, don't come here to Hate on her, Tarja can handle World tours as a Solo artist, not many women in Metal can say the same (Doro is another one). Leave that hate in another place!
