    It would be nice if you actually had a lesson on teaching the solo , as it is really hard to break down each section and learn it without the proper equipment, which I, and most people don't have . I got a call from a music store ( EUWurlitzer) where my 1971 100 watt Super Lead was being serviced , and was asked if Ritchie Blackmore could borrow my head for a show with Rainbow at The Main Act in Lynn Mass as he blew one of his in sound check .Of course I said yes and got all access passes and got to hang with Ritchie & even play his Stratocaster.
    I have great pictures from that night.
    Thanks

      I use it with an SV20, after a Boss SD-1. I love how the SD-1 tightens up the bass on that amp, I set it low and then kick in the TP1011. It’s definitely got a certain thing going for it, a real chewy sorta sound. I never have the volume pot on my Strats passed 6 when I use that combination in my home studio

    Great dedication, research and playing! I am researching Blackmore's monster tone on the live Rainbow On Stage album. Would this similar signal chain be effective in reproducing that tone as well? I am curious about the effect of the Aiwa preamp pedal - is it more of a clean boost, and how does it colour the guitar tone? Thank you!

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much!
      Yes, as with Deep Purple, he pretty much used the same setup live and in the studio with Rainbow. From '73 it was basically a modified Marshall Major with a modified AIWA preamp plus the Schulte Compact Phasing unit for specific songs and passages.
      The TP-1011 is not a clean boost, it adds a lot of character to the sound. To the point of being the defining factor between Blackmore's Deep Purple MK2 sound and his very different MK3/Rainbow tone. Amp (and I suspect cabs too) remained the same all through most of the 69/77 period, with the actual differences in sound between both eras being the use of either the modified Hornby Skewes booster or the AIWA preamp. It's really that simple :)
      In short, from his early days Blackmore kept a very straightforward setup that could accomodate his live and studio work without too many complications. Let me know if I can be of help in your research! Cheers, M.

    • @KauffeyBean

      @@mgalbu You are the person that I have been looking for - someone who has delved down to this much detail and research over Blackmore's magical tones! Thank you so much!!! And even better that you play his solos with the utmost faithfulness and flair! This is my favourite era of the Blackmore tone ruclips.net/video/ZFMQr3qyR0k/видео.html - seems his live tone in this era is a tad brighter/(more overdriven as well?) and more scooped compared to the studio recordings - perfect to complement his huge stage presence.

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  2 года назад +1

      @@KauffeyBean Thanks again for your kind words! I love the Munich ‘77 tone too. I think the differences with his studio sound are likely to be related to the different recording conditions. 10-11-14-26-36-42 I order the strings separately since there's no set with these exact gauges. More importantly, strings must be pure nickel wrap, like they used to have back in those days. Makes a huge difference in sound and feel when compared to modern nickel wound construction strings.
