I'm liking that scrambler for AZ backroads. The mountains are calling!

I like the fact that the significantly different seat heights will make one of these a comfortable ride for both shorter and taller riders. Me, I'm short (5'6" with a 28" inseam), but I know that a lot of taller riders complain about feeling cramped on the bikes that I like.

Scrambler is hot, more space, more suspension, dirt tracks, what’s not to love 💗

Man so true! I live in India, and took a test ride of both these bikes. Speed felt super agile, flickable, easy to ride whereas Scram felt a bit bulky and more substantial bike(not exactly a demerit).
I generally want a bike for commuting in the cities, with a few weekend rides here and there, so i went ahead with Speed.
Absolutely love this machine! While in western countries 400cc is an entry level bike, here in India it generally is the beginning of high end bikes. As someone who has only ever ridden 150-250cc bikes speed felt home.
During test drive to return to the showroom, we have to make a u-turn in very busy traffic. I was able to maneuver Speed very effectively, but scram felt slightly heavy and i got the same feeling which you got from its tires. So totally agree with this review.
And man, this bike looks seriously more awesome in real life🤩

Great video for what seems like a good bike. I appreciate you mentioning your weight, because im sure my mileage would vary a bit at 180 lbs. My last bike's (FZ07) suspension was definitely made for a lighter rider and never gave me confidence.

1976. The crew of guys I worked with all went to the drive-in movie and watched Steve McQueen jump fences on a Triumph. For months afterwards we all called each other “Steve”, especially if we executed something well. Gang having lunch in a restaurant, waitress brings the food; “ But which one of you guys is the real Steve?”

I'd take the Speed 400. Cheaper, lighter, lower seat, more nimble & better looking.

Saw one of these in person the other day. It has to have at least 90% of the fit and finish of the other Triumphs, it seems really well put together period, let alone for the price.

Really enjoyable ride out review. Commentary is excellent considering you are riding out in the wild. Triumph build quality is usually superb and looking at these at the Hinckley factory it is. Very tempted as id love a small single. Not KTM as the build quality is not so good.

KTM 390, like the Triumph 400 is made by Bajaj in India. It will be interesting to see how they compact in terms of reliability.

My speed 400 would not start the first day that i got it. Got it to the shop and they i guess fixed it and now it is doing it all over again and it is back in the shop again. I made a video of what it is doing on my channel. I would turn the key to start and and got nothing, i would then turn it off and turn it back on and it would fire right up. It does this ALL THE TIME!!

Had a test ride on the 400X at the weekend. Nice little bike but the engine isn't in line with what I expect from a Triumph. It's very eager and revvy, this isn't helped by the low gearing. I think that will work for riders who want a sense of urgency, but not if you're a more laid back rider. Great value though.

I'd rather have the Z anyhow. your beat up Z will still be running in 10 years and most of these triumphs will be coffee makers.
It's like we're back in the early 70s do you want early 70s BMW early 70s classic American early 70s classic Asian early 70s classic British . How about 80s how about 90s how about 2000s? Any of those but the last one and that's how I feel today I'd rather have a BMW any Asian bike or an American bike over the Triumph.
I'm a big fan of most British things, both cultural and otherwise, but if you buy a British automobile or motorcycle you're saying you have money to burn and you don't care about reliability at all . This has been the truth for many decades.

    • @flesz_
      @flesz_ 3 месяца назад +3

@@jgrc73 British is like a logo, all of them are produced or in Thailand or India
I think it's like with apple. You might call it American, but it's produced in China.
Back in the time it could have made sense to limit yourself to specific brands based on the country, but nowadays I think it's less important and most of the new designs are much better than before.
They had many years to work on the designs to improve the reliability and quality.

I have to disagree agree about Triumph reliability. I have over 30k miles on my 2018 Tiger 800 with no reliability issues…only normal maintenance expenses. My 2013 Bonneville T100 was equally reliable. I have the 400x on order…

The review was hard to listen to. I think a bit more preparation goes a long ways. Not in facts. Those were great! But public speaking needs work. Just a lot of um’s and uh’s. A lot of sentences sounded like rhetorical questions haha. All good! Just you seemed nervous mate. I have always found talking to myself in my house prior to giving a speech helps take the nerves out. Lot of my friends who act typically do the same. Something I learned from them. Hope it helps!
