Johannes Araya No, they're two different, very distinguishable things. a black head makes a small indent in the skin, with a small dark lump in the middle. Sebaceous filaments can be flat or slightly raised.

Those are actually sebaceous filaments, which is completely natural and should not be forced out unless it is blocked and infected, as it is made of oils that keep your skin hydrated. As well as prevent bacterial and fungal infections. You actually make your pores bigger and more susceptible to acne by doing this. Just wash your face gently everyday and accept your skin for how it is unless you have an actual high maintance acne problem. In which case, seek a dermatoligist for proper treatment to both keep it down, and prevent your skin from being damaged by products full of chemicals.

I was about to comment this, too! It's also called "horn and tallow" colloquially. I used to squeeze those out all the time but recently I learned about the difference between the filaments and actual blackheads, too.

Use hot water to clean before, cold water right after (preferably filtered) and you shouldn't experience any enlarged pores.

Just because you have all those things over your nose doesn't mean they're black heads, they could be sebaceous filament.

@@cecifrederick3158 sebaceous filaments are what carries sebum from the hair follicle to your skin to keep your skin moist and not dry and stiff. they are wherever you have hair follicles, but typically are most visible around the nose area. a lot of people mistake them for blackheads, even though the filaments are white/beige in color and blackheads are black. you can remove them by squeezing them out or using pore strips like these, but they are supposed to be there, so they will just come back. they aren't visible on everyone's nose, though. they're more prominent in people with oily skin types (at least around their nose) or those with large pores.

don't worry, it didn't work for me either. I tried all sort of nose strips, using warm water and all, and it nv really worked. So I'm guessing, I either have a pretty clean nose or they are deep as hell..
ゾーイ the charcoal peel and a warming scrub was the best combo for me, one step strips never worked all that well for me until I started using other stuff to help loosen them up

after a blackhead removal you have to use an extra cream to close the pores again or it'll just make it worse ...

Trulylatino there isn't anything you can "do about it" because it's all human nature. Just taking good care of your skin can decrease the size of them
Trulylatino I actually use a dermaroller on my nose and cheeks and it's help with reducing the size of my pores.
Trulylatino I wash my face every day twice a day. I use the purity facial cleanser by philosophy morning and night with my Clarisonic Mia 2 at night. I do a hydrating mask every other week and I exfoliate once or twice a week. I use these strips once a week or once every other week. I always use a light face cream morning and night. I have a very intense skincare routine because I had bad hormonal acne as a teen and this is what I found that keeps my skin clear. It took a lot of trial and error to find the products that worked for me but I definitely recommend the purity facial cleanser and the pore strips. The Clarisonic Mia 2 is amazing but it is very expensive.
Trulylatino I also recommend eating a healthy diet. Good skin starts from the inside! But you know, pizza is a must in the diet lol

Several times I've tried these exact strips and they left my nose really red and they peel a lot now.They still peel to this day because of that.I am not even joking.But they work for other people just not my type.I did this about 1 every 1-2 months so they could heal
This is your natural "face moisturizer". It's perfectly normal to have bigger pores on the nose. If you don't use any facial products at all, this is what keeps your skin from drying out, over the whole face actually. It's also normal that sebum/lipid comes out if you press with your fingers, just as you would expect toothpaste to come out of the tube if you press at the bottom. This is just the way it works. The whole "beauty industry" tries to tell especially the girls that you have to do skin peeling and then moisturize again, that you have to "deep cleanse" your face and then moisturize it again with their products... it's all a sham, basically. You would have the best skin if you didn't use any such products whatsoever. Peeling should be left for people with acne, there it's useful. But for normal skin, the more you deep cleanse, the faster it will become "greasy", because the body will try to compensate for all the cleansing by producing sebum or lipid at a faster rate. If you let the body do what it's supposed to, it will return to a natural balance eventually.

No. You can wash your face in the morning/evening with pH-balanced liquid soap for example, but normal liquid soap will do too. It would be best to mostly put the soap on your forehead and nose, and clean the rest just with water and the soap that gets there from your nose/forehead, i.e. don't scrub your whole face with soap on it.
What i'm saying is, go easy on the face products in general. Nature has come up with sophisticated ways our face keeps itself moisturized, as long as you don't interfere with that mechanism by constantly using different products on your face. All this money is wasted, you have to just let your skin do the work, and maybe accept a bit bigger pores around your nose, which are after all normal.

Those things on your nose that look like blackheads that constantly re form are not blackheads. They are sebaceous filaments and they will *always* come back.

There's a distinction between blackheads and sebaceous filaments. These are the latter.

If you do it too much, you can literally get holes on your nose, sebaceous filaments don't close up, so it will just be filled with the next gunk you put on your face.
You shouldn't use these, as they will eventually damage your skin, and cause your pores to be permanently noticeable. Just find a good clay mask and use it regularly, works way better and is better for your skin.

blackheads are literally black and hard, sebaceous filaments are grey or white and are oily. Kinda of like pus in a way but not really.

I remember these biore strips were trending years ago and everyone stopped because they found out they can do more harm than good by enlarging your pores yadda yadda. Now this whole charcoal mask thing started trending and everyone is obsessed with pulling crap out of their pores again. GUYS! Some of this stuff is too harsh for frequent use. Don't go crazy, every major change you do to your skin should be delicate and gradual.

This actually isn't recommended, it can cause capillary breaking. If you want to minimize blackheads and SF's just massage your nose with unscented baby oil. Also chemical exfoliant.

they're almost for sure sebaceous filaments. and you don't need to use strips to get rid of those because they're totally natural and benign, as long as you are doing some basic hygiene they won't bother you. some of the crap that came off with the trip might actually be a blackhead but those are usually noticeable in the mirror and you'd know if you had one.
