Several commenters have pointed out that the painter who strapped himself to a post in a storm was J.M.W. Turner, not Van Gogh. Sorry about that!

@@avabaumann3250 😂❤️
chamberlainpaintings ❤️
chamberlainpaintings we still love you at least you know that someone even did that I had no idea👏
Similar to John Muir in sierra storms.🤍
Excellent tutorial...straight. forward...easy to understand for beginners...thanks
there is always room for more demos on colour mixing
my high school art teacher has LEFT the chat sis
........great tutorial - we have very high winds in the UK today and I don't fancy being tied to a tree, so I'm going to stay in and give this a go!
love your explanations...so clear and easy..thanx Mike
Such a great artist 👏
Thank you so much for teaching this , as you said we need to know the basic principals .🙏🎨👍cannot thank you enough 😊
Yes please mixing colors 👍
I was literally just watching some of your previous videos and then you uploaded
i LOVE the paint mixing videos, i’d really enjoy to see more of them on ur channel. great work! :)
Hi. I would like to see more mixing videos. I'm just learning and this was easy to understand and play along with. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
i’m definitely a very such a clearly obviously beginner, so much appreciated
i just found ur channel and i literally love it!!!!
Love your handwriting!!!
omg i have never thought of this thank you so much this is gonna make painting for me much easier
I learn more from your channel than i do at school. You're doing something right sis!
thanks :) this is going to make mixing paints so much easier
im so happy you made this video!!!
You have been my absolute favourite person to watch lately, I really appericate what you do and that you share it with others :)
this is so helpful thank you papa chambie!!
Amazing how many still believe that every colour under the sun can be mixed with just three tubes of paint (primaries) plus white, assuming, as in light, there are also three perfect primary pigments. Rarely have I seen any videos that discuss pigment bias and the effect of that bias on any given mix. Crucial vid. Thank you. Re Turner and the ship's mast, I can highly recommend Tim Spall's portrayal of the artist in a film called...Mr. Turner.
Thanks!
Watching paint mix is an artist’s favorite pastime
Been inspired to paint lately so I can’t wait to try what you’ve shone!
Thanks Mike.
Hey Mike! There’s just no substitute for mixing colors in the studio. That Q-Red really produces some nice shadow colors. Thanks for demoing this!
Hey Dennis! Thanks for the feedback!
I enjoyed that thx Mike 👍🎨
Thank you for this! Very helpful since we're going to literally paint in my art class on thursday! 💛
great teacher! thank you

Yes, taking me back to art class! 🎨 Thanks..........
Definitely needed this

This is one of my favorite videos! I would like if you could do more 🎨
Thankkk youuu
i really needed this video last night aha! you inspired me too try to paint, never trying again...
That was interesting, I would like to see more mixing videos, such as mixing in a third color group.
this is so helpful thanks so much I love watching I grew up in the bay area livermore ca. if you ever make it over to livermore sycamore grove park and lake del vale is wonderful spots.
My daughter used to do cheer in Livermore. I'd go paint while she was at practice. I mostly painted Brushy Peak and Lake Del Valle. I'll have to check out sycamore grove park!
I kept struggling to get a nice purple so this was a good demonstration.
love u and ur channel
There is a scene in Lust for Life (Kirk Douglas bio of Van Gogh) where he paints hanging on to a tree in a storm...so maybe writers added some artistic license there. Great mixing video. Several artists recommend the split palette and it does save a lot of money! Thanks!!
thank you for the color charts, Michael.....Quinacs are modern colors and get brighter in mixtures according to Gamblin website tech page.!!
Educational.
this was kind of therapeutic to watch, nice to wake up to!
Now I know where Emma got her sense of humour from
Oh wow, I love this, so helpful. I get really frustrated mixing. This will be my go to vid now when I start a new painting, Thank you so much. BTW, I love Gamblin paints.
Very interesting Michael Thankyou
literally learned more about color applied to painting in this video than 3 years of art school (I’m transferring lol)
This was unbelievably helpful, thanks!
love this video❤️
This is really cool
This is incredible! As always, thank you for such an insightful and thoughtful video!
Such an inspiration and such an useful video!
I’m kinda late because, ya know, sleep, but this was so useful for me! I just started using acrylics, and so far they’ve been good but this video helped me out sooooo much. Thank you! I was also wondering if acrylics dry fast? A lot of times I end up painting and going to fast because I never know if the acrylics will dry.
ya local spoopy gay you can try adding a retarder to your paints or just have a spray bottle filled with water on hand to spray it when it starts going dry. from experience, i find the paints don’t dry too fast, it takes a few hours unless you’re mixing tiny swatches of paint
Kirsten Pruitt ok. Thank you!
Thanks again for your entertaining, informative videos.
0:52 surely the ultramarine is the warm blue and the cerulean blue is the cool one, no?
Why is this satisfying
Thanks!
very helpful 😍 Thank u
I don’t even paint but I still really enjoyed watching this
I like how you edit your videos!
thank you for teaching us this !!
Who disliked this video? I just want to talk.
LOL!!
wow wow LOL ME
THIS IS AMAZING
what I would love to know is how different the end result is when you differ the quantities of the two colors!
I'm trying to figure out how to do a video like that without it being too long. Maybe I'll do separate videos for mixing different color groups.
Hi Michael, just a couple of points. It was Joseph Mallord William Turner who strapped himself to the mast of a ship during a raging storm at sea. Also, why do you not follow Gruppé’s inclusion of orange on your palette? With orange it is so easy to mix infinite varieties of cool and warm greys. I enjoyed your video. Thanks for posting!
Ah yes Turner! I had heard it was Van Gogh. I'll correct that info in a future video. I included Cad Orange on my palette for many years but found I wasn't using it. I much prefer the results when I mix my own.
wonderful video dad! say hi to emma for me 😃
please more mixing videos 🎨
Thank you ❤️
curious as to why you used a hue (cerulean) instead of a straight up color
amazing artist 👏👏
ultramarine blue tends towards warm blue , i guess
ultramarine blue tends towards warm , i guess
fun times!
The reason the purples aren’t ‘true’ in this demonstration is because RED is not a primary colour, though rich and varied violets, purples etc can easily be made using a MAGENTA colour. Also magenta, mixed in appropriate amounts, makes beautiful luminous greens and browns.
.
i love it!!!!
i’m not an artist whatsoever, but i got here from ur daughter, and ur channel is very interesting !!
I’m going become the next Van Gough
king
The story you mentioned at the beginning of your video was attributed to J. M. W. Turner, not Van Gogh. A great artist you should look at.
Yes! I'll correct that info in a future vid. I'm a fan of Turner. Love all that abstract energy.
Hiiiiii
R u making pallets now 🎨😍
New subscriber here!! I post art videos as well I did a cool Keith themed one
I came from emma
came here for the purple😔😔
