Can’t believe they used that strong an adhesive after we all went batshit when we heard the “sticker was not a sticker” and changed it to a sticker.. jeez, what a shame. It’s like “OK collectors, we WILL make it sticker... but you still can’t peel it off!” ((sinister executive twirls mustache)) I’d never heard of the Router thing either, but have had great success with a hairdryer getting “clearance” type stickers off Black Series boxes. Helps lift the glue residue too.
Thing is this is a completely new figure, so they could have done away with the sticker, worn edges, and retro collection stuff, as of course you would be able to differentiate it
Bossk's Bounty I got two.....From 97’ brand new still un- open. Bought them at a Kay B’ toy store, cause they never made him” & when I saw them! 🤩 I was like Oh Yeah’!!! Had them ever since.....
For future reference, use a little Zippo lighter fluid when removing stickers, it dissolved the glue but doesn't affect the print, and you can even keep the sticker, it should literally just peel/slide off! Used it for years as a designer to clean grease, glue and dirt off of art boards.
That was a good attempt at removing the sticker. I left mine on. I like that you put the tarkin in with old school Vader and palpatine to compare how well it integrates into the collection. Great video my friend!
I thought the same thing when grabbing this board game as far as the wear goes. Haha. For $20, I thought it was a great deal. I'm tempted to pick up another one or two to open...
Love the Moff! Picked up the game in Target recently just to get the figure. Since I was lucky enough to get and keep the original game from back in the 70’s. As for reissue of the figure line I’d love to see them redo it. I got all the retros at my local Toys R Us a few months ago and I still buy the vintage figures today. Enjoyed the video thanks.
I think it's pretty cool that they are making some of these old figures again. I'm also not surprised that people are finding things to nitpick and complain about. How about just be happy they are making them again?
I love these figures. I love the fact that I personally have the opportunity to buy them NEW again...and I hope they make more. I hope they continue and re-release every figure. I grew up with Star Wars obviously and I started with the early bird set from Sears in the late 70's. I kept going through ESB and ROTJ. And then, many years later...as I got older I moved on from my toys and my folks threw them away. Not just a few, but all of it. I am an adult now with kids and while I would love to own all that I had as a kid the prices for vintage are just way way out of my reach. But at least with these releases I can obtain them again at normal retail prices (or close...had to go to ebay for some) and as an adult I can keep them on cardbacks and hang/display them. They look (to me) just like they did when I was a kid...and that is more than good enough for me!
Great review! The figure looks amazing. I too wish the sticker was easier to remove and they should never have went with the “worn” look of the packaging. I hope they rerelease all the originals and more that we never got!
I can’t believe I want this. As bad as the quality is compared to the current photo real TVC figures, it’s just a weird throwback feeling that’s gonna sucker me in to picking this and the other retro collection figures up.
Only release un-produced figures! Slave Leia, Rebel corvette solider, Wedge and ect. I would be up for that, however I hate any remakes off the originals!
Handy tip that may work for the sticker.... once have edge worked up then use lighter fluid (something like Zippo lighter fluid) either a small little squirt at a time or applied to a Q-tip and then rubbed on under the sticker as you pull back. The lighter fluid dissolves the sticker glue and should enable a clean removal... Disclaimer - I have not tried this method on the retro card stickers - just something that I use to remove sticker residue from vintage toys when refurbishing them. Anyway, just thought that I throw the idea out there for folks to try if they wish :-)
Hey, great review, I personally love this idea by Hasbro, the retro line, I have a set pre ordered and this guy to, can't wait to get them, thanks for sharing
I’m really happy they’re reissuing the vintage figures. I always wanted a few since they’re THE original Star Wars toys essentially but getting an original fig from ANH is a crapshoot in terms of pricing.
I hope they bring out Leia Jabba slave outfit, Admiral Tiaan Jerjerrod and more vital character that were missed. I like RetroBlasters may have mentioned this too.
I’ve never heard of that...makes sense though. I’ll get the chance to try it out when the other figures get released. Just on my openers though. I’m leaving the sticker on my carded figures. Thanks for the tip.
This whole retro line from hasbro is embarrassing. They took a potential great reboot and completely fucked it up. Why do the edging like it was shelf warn it completely sucks. Why add a huge retro sticker to a figure that was never released.......derrrrrrrr. The command sticks on original figures were prints not moulds and if you used lighter fluid on the sticker they come off without damaging the card which is really pointless saving as the build quality is shite. Poor attempt by hasbro but they aren’t bothered

wow, super collection behind you :)
I LOVE the Tarkin figure! Fits in perfectly with the vintage Star Wars figures.
Thing is this is a completely new figure, so they could have done away with the sticker, worn edges, and retro collection stuff, as of course you would be able to differentiate it
Hopefully they make more figures that were never released in the original Kenner collection
Stephen Lozano I got a Governor Tarkin ! 97’ found it at a Kay B toy store in S.F. Still in opened 🙂
Lightly Heat the decal with a hair dryer it will peel off
Nice review. I am still not sold on this Retro collection but I do want that Tarkin!
Bossk's Bounty I got two.....From 97’ brand new still un- open. Bought them at a Kay B’ toy store, cause they never made him” & when I saw them! 🤩 I was like Oh Yeah’!!! Had them ever since.....
Hi Bossk, I want this tarkin, I don't give anything for the game, but Tarkin I might just buy separately on EBay or something

Great! He is a must-buy for me!
You do really solid reviews here! Thanks for great content!👍👍👍👍

I've been looking forward to this
Looks great! They should do all the figures Retro.
I think it's pretty cool that they are making some of these old figures again. I'm also not surprised that people are finding things to nitpick and complain about. How about just be happy they are making them again?
That’s cool..........I have a Tarkin from, 97’ bought it a Kay Bee toy store in S.F still un open.🙃 I’ll try’n post it....

Lighter fluid to remover the sticker. Works perfect 👌
I don’t trust myself one bit to do that 😀
Erin, for the sticker use you hairdryer to remove it, and after, use Zippo lighter fluid to remove the glue ;)
I had the board game second hand when I was a kid played with a few times during the early 80s i believe
I can’t believe I want this. As bad as the quality is compared to the current photo real TVC figures, it’s just a weird throwback feeling that’s gonna sucker me in to picking this and the other retro collection figures up.

They need to remake the whole line, cant efford the originals.

I look forward for more Retro and i hope we get more like the ones they were never released back in the 70s and 80s
A bartender for the vintage cantina would make sense.
Heat up the sticker a little bit, the glue loosens.
With a hair dryer, right?
A hair dryer should work. Ours didn’t get all that hot though but it helped a little more on another one I tried.
Use Goo Gone to remove the sticker residue. You can saturate the sticker, then carefully use a paper towel with soap and water to remove it.
I like the idea...maybe could have left the sticker off the card, or eliminated the “worn” look. I can maybe see the concept behind one but not both.
Nice video cheers 👍
Did you get the POTF2 4 pack of Retro figures?
I do have that one. However, I only bought the one so I don’t have an opener of it.
I want it so badly!
When it comes to removing stickers, someone told me to have a wifi router sit on top of the card. The heat softens up the glue and removes easier.
I’ve never heard of that...makes sense though. I’ll get the chance to try it out when the other figures get released. Just on my openers though. I’m leaving the sticker on my carded figures. Thanks for the tip.
That's an oddly specific method. Just use lighter fluid instead.
Use lighter fluid in future when removing stickers, as it breaks down the adhesive glue.
And that won’t damage the card?
They need to remake greedo
Really didn't need the gun considering who's going be buying him and what for

The worn designs on these retro cards are an annoyance. Just make them regular Hasbro, and sloppy paint on his hair on your figure...Hasbro sigh.....😒
absolutely different face 🤮🤮🤮
Don't reissue these pieces of junk. Ooh la la!!
