This was one of 'our songs" back in 1982. I'd sing it to my late hubby (we were married until his death 2 years ago, very blissfully). When it got to "if only I could share my life with you" he'd always hug me. Aw, the memories. Why is it so hard to find this version?
I don’t know where you go this, but thanks for sharing. Although I’ve seen Chuck in person a number of times, I was not fortunate enough to see Esther perform live (in-person or on TV), so this was a treat. There are certain sopranos whose sound is very distinct, and Esther is among them. If anyone knows where she is, she needs to know how much she is appreciated.
As I write this I am listening to my original album of "Land of Make Believe" which was recorded in 1973. The title song of the album is 12 minutes of absolute magic the way she sings with this amazing orchestra recorded in concert in Canada. A brilliant performance.
The Don Kirschner archive of performances was given to Historicfilms. Chuck and Esther also performed on the Merv Griffen Show on September 13th, 1974 (S13E5, 2418). Merv Griffen footage was given to Reelinintheyears. Both Historic Films and Reelin In The Years state they will not make the recordings available to the general public. This is a shame as so little footage of the two performing together is available.
Just ran across this video and wasn’t at all surprised to see you in the comments. If anyone will be able to find more of this concert, it’ll be you! I still have great memories of your awesome “Mangione Magic” site and forum. Hope you’re doing well!
Over 40 years ago and still my favorite... Such a haunting, lilting melody... And her voice seems to soar. Simply beautiful! ❤
a gift to us that loved Chuck Mangione and Esther Satterfield❤🙏🙏
Those two together produced unreal music together. Neither one got their true acknowledgement they truly deserved. Thank you both.❤
@@tweetiddleydumEsther certainly has been overlooked. I would beg to differ about Chuck. He won two Grammy awards and was nominated for 14.
I love this tandem.
Chase the clouds away
Love is stronger far than we
Once i loved
My favorites up to this time

Thank you so much for sharing!! 💥❤
Favorite Chuck song 😊 Whatever happened to Esther Satterfield?
She stopped singing to raise a family of, I believe, 5 children. Went into teaching school at some point.
@@christopher4939 thanks for the update
Her voice was such a gift... So glad we have recordings. ❤
