My neighbors Joe and his wife Phyllis had a double ice blue with navy leather interior. What a gorgeous car!!!. That color combination is absolutely striking. Truly a "Disco Era Car!!!"
@@jcraig1848 You can say that again. These cars had what we used to call a "boulevard ride"; soft and floating... and completely insulating from any imperfections in the pavement. Then in the '90s, some A-hole executive decided everybody wanted a "euro- sedan" with a firm, taut suspension... and gone were the boulevard ride and the fingertip steering. 😕😡
It was a 1976 Toronado that I learned to drive , It was my dad‘s of course, that’s back. When the car was new, it was a beauty. Today, I have a 78 Lincoln Mark V As my summer cruiser. I enjoy watching all your videos of your beautiful cars. Wish I lived closer to see them or even buy one, but I’m in Northern Ontario.

MR ANTHONY YOUR A GREAT GENTLEMAN AND FAMILY MAN THE OPPORTUNITY YOU HAVE IS MEASURED BY THE FACT THAT PEOPLE LOVE THE COLLECTIVE EFFORTS OF BUSINESS DEALERSHIP SELLING QUALITY SERVICES AND SALES FOR YEARS AT SPECIALTY MOTORS
Wow! What a stunning survivor! Back in the day my neighbors, who were retired, had one of these in a medium blue metallic with a white top, that they would drive back and forth to their winter home in Florida. They kept that car absolutely spotless! You never saw a speck of dirt on that car. I never really thought about it until now, but I was always so impressed with that car, maybe that's the reason I ended up being a Toronado owner myself a few years later. They were truly great cars!
My mother had the exact car minus moonroof and leather. I used to use it to date in during high school circa 1980-81; rolling bedroom. Just an awesome car.
You are really being pretty hard on this 47 year old beauty!! When you see the seat belt guides still present at the top of the front seats and not cracked and broken, you know this is a well-maintained car. Even the door pull straps look new! I had a 72 Toro with 27k on it that didn't look as good as this one! I sold it a few years ago.
What a special car. I would love to have that. I think it is priced fairly for its condition. I just need to get rid of one of my other cars before I think about buying anything else.
That is one sweet Toronado, and very reasonably priced!!! LOVE IT! NO TESLA or any of the other Light Bulbs on wheels will last until they're almost 50 years old!!!! Take that Elon!!!!
Good morning Tony and papa bear, I owned a 1971 Toronado, triple Brown, absolutely a pleasure to drive and the power that had, I would do smoke shows in the high school parking lot 😂
Is she GORGEOUS or What....? These were everywhere when I was 16 years old. LOVED these and the Eldos. Beautiful Condition Anthony. Hi Papa, hope you doing okay Sir..?
I worked for Lou Galves back in the late 70s. We transported many of these big FWD cars that were traded in to dealers in New Jersey back to Lou's garage in the Bronx. They have heavy understeer, especially in the rain. Most were Eldorados. Amazing how Oldsmobile could sell one of these beautiful coupes for not much more than a loaded Caprice.
When GM still followed ; " A car for every taste, and purse ." They offered this chassis for Eldorados, Riviera, and Tornado. This expanded the reach of tbe company to mske cars interesting, fun , gave choices .
I had an 83 Toronado, same color combo. The car was fantastic, wish I had some pictures but I guess we didn’t walk around with cameras like we do today. Wish I had appreciated that car more than I did. I bought it from an older lady who loved going to Vegas and having a cocktail or 2. She was not hauling groceries with it lol😂
Touch up was a way bigger deal back in the 70s and 80s than it is now a lot of those cars were basically raw steel back then a paint chip could turn into a scab the size of a quarter in just a couple years it was critical to keep up with back then the paint was like a paper thin coat of porcelain. That crack is a stress point that’s where the steel is welded under that point. That’s a majestic car. As the owner of a white/white/maroon 85 Toronado with a moonroof this car is absolutely a treasure I’d trade a car carrier of Grand Marquis for this car, if I had them to offer. Toronado owners know they are different even from Eldorados the engine is different better the ride is “tighter” if you have two side by side you will notice that’s an exceptional car sir. Only thing it’s missing is the wrap around rear window there’s a reason it was treasured. The true car guy 1940s babies they saw the writing on the wall.
Hey Anthony, I didn't know you got 1978s because I've been waiting for a pristine, low mileage 1978-79 First Gen Seville. By the way, I love your new 18 oz mugs.
There was a passenger’s recliner seat option available ( it looks like that’s the only option she doesn’t have) maybe the CB radio built in with the stereo cassette or 8Track fyi
This is going to sound strange but I can't figure out if I love this car or hate it. I admire it for what it is though, a well-preserved 70s piece of nostalgia.
Wow! You don't see these anymore. I hope whoever gets it takes care of it. There's a 75 or 76 coupe de ville a couple blocks away from me and it gets driven, but not taken care of. Makes me sad to see it slowly getting rusty and vinyl roof rotting away. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I love these cars
I also want to say how much I enjoy seeing an older model car like this come thru your dealership. I understand that it's just you and Papa Bear, and you can only do so much. In other words, do the best you can to bring these 70's classics for sale.
@jimmiesmith5811 They are. I remember when these cars were new and our neighbor across the street had a white over white XSR with a powder blue crushed velour interior. I was only around ten at that time, but if IIRC, he said they only made 1,100.
Pretty nice example. But for me, of this generation, with the possible exception of the XS (rarity, cool backlite) my interest is limited to the 71-73. The 73 only makes the cut with the mandated (front) crash bumper because of the substantially upgraded interior - 71-72 were a bit blah. Still for all years 71-78, year for year I'd rather have a Riviera in every one of its 3 successive restyles.
What is with all the crazy tools making comments about this car being overpriced - when they aren’t even a buyer? Go ahead and try to find another similar car with this equipment and mileage. Also, may of these low budget people do not recognize the difference between a true low mileage survivor and the ones that have multiple turns of their 5 digit odometer.
@@specialtymotorcars Its just so obvious. If they really were a buyer they would contact you and make their case. The dumbest way they could try to get a better deal is hope that you would melt because of their inane comment that actually proves they don't know anything at all. I noticed the simple rear axle design of this model. When the 1979 Toronado came out, I never liked the noise of the rear independent suspension over some road irregularities. I used to rent both.

Those front and rear bumper fillers can cost a small fortune to replace. Good thing they are in good condition.
It's a beautiful amazing toronado Anthony!!!! Very nice! I'm sure it won't last long at all
Those high-mount stop lamps on the Tornado started in 1971 through 1978, the last year of production. And yes, it's the only car with that feature.
Check out the Buick Riviera. It also had them .
until the 1974 Buick Riv. It had the redundant taillights in 1974. But the Olds Toro was first in 1971. I had a 1972 Toro.
These cars were so much fun
