Bungie is going to intentionally kill destiny once marathon comes out. They want to chase that extraction shooter money. But if the last couple years of bungie is what to expect in the future, marathon's going to be a colossal flop and Sony is going to take over.
I hope the game ends in final shape, they just need to stop there and forget about the espisodes. The game is already to lengthy and its time to move on.
Aztecross is getting a head of the curve because after Final Shape I can't see a lot of D2 hype, and frankly cross is one of the few who can do it. He's got a lot more charisma than most D2 youtubers too, so he's got that going for him
This needs to be the new model for game reviews. In depth, non rushed discussions on the game, comparing them to their counterparts on the market based on innovation and not preference. Amazing stuff here. Hope yo see more of this review style in the future.
No.. main review should be short with still proper info and opinion. This type of video should be separate because this takes away from all the surprises and discoveries that people can make on their own.
Just realized that the blue chest piece I dropped on the ground to show off how the loot filter works was one I needed and I never picked it back up. Nice.
This should have been expected. With PoE being too much of headache, and Diablo 4 failing miserably. There is a void, there is a famine, a HUGE thirst for something decent and playable by people that have a job. Last Epoch just might fill that void.
Spotty is an understatement. Like I love the game, but about 25% of my time in game has been loading screens and getting booted to the main menu due to server issues.
@@darksungwyndolin9977 i don't have that experience. Out of my 40+ hours I might have spent 1-1.5h in loading / waiting - and I'm in EUW that seems to be the less stable. There were work arounds for some of the log in issues. And if nothing worked, I just spent my time doing something different.
14:20 EHG have already said there are 3 more story chapters planned to release post 1.0, whether than finishes the story or not we'll have to see, but we know at least there's 3 more chapters, as well as a deeper endgame and proper pinnacle an uber bosses 100% confirmed
Really enjoyed the back and forth guys, hope to get more vids on Last Epoch. I've been having a lot of fun staying up way too late (on work nights) playing this game lol.
I really enjoyed this type of "interview" video. Would definitely listen more. Things I would like to be added in this type of videos in the future: - Cross's cam and the person he's talking to - Occasionally remove the cams to focus on the gameplay for the particular points in the conversation. Other than that, great video, great sound quality too!!
I agree with this interview. I started an Acolyte in Last Epoch yesterday with the intent of unlocking the warlock based on what I saw, but after a few hours of playing with the summons, I decided to focus into necromancer and dude am I having so much fun just playing around with my own army. Right now I have 2 golems, 5 mage skeletons, 8 archer skeletons, and 6 wraiths. I'm level 53 after a day and I'm already looking forward to try all of the other classes and subclasses.
Cross, I liked his style of review. I have been playing Last Epoch and it is always helpful when a trusted Content Creators, share their resources like in this video in order to get information out on games with their followers and the gaming community. For me personally, I have friends who have either never played a game, or who have not played a certain games as much that will come and ask me to explain the details of how a certain game's systems work and it is nice to have a trusted Content Creator to send them to. I have followed you for years now on all things Destiny and other games as well. When friends come ask me things about builds, or a "how to" on endgame content, I can just go find one of the videos that you have put together and link it to that friend. Then explain that Cross' video can explain it better than I can. I said all of that to say, as a Last Epoch player, this review has helped me gain a better understanding of the games end game systems. Thank you for all you do and for the dedication to the gaming industry that you provide.
PoE is still king of arpgs. I'd pick this over D4 but I'll wait for PoE 2. It took me 350hrs to platinum and put down D3 (loved it) but it took me 2400hrs to platinum and put down PoE.
Your guest did a wonderful job. He very much had his finger on the pulse of this genera and did a great job comparing them. As a casual player in the genera for decades now: For me, I fell in love with D2 as a teenage. I found D3 to be lack luster, but enjoyable. And D4 was an over-hyped, over-monetized husk of a game. In the other direction, I very much enjoy POE. But it's too much. I get frustrated with how complex it can be, having to spend more time in the build editor (POB) than designing a new character in-game. As he said, Last Epoch is perfectly between the two IP's in complexity and systems. And for that reason, this is my new #1 ARPG.
I’m level 10 on the steam deck and enjoying this more then Diablo on my ps5 and series x. I just found a arboreal circuit ring unique silver ring at level 10 wtf ? I love the skill tree for each skill it’s so dope, also I like how if you find a skill you like you can specialize in that skill and make it better.
Been playing for three years and seeing this new footage is exciting. It has grown so much and the visuals especially have gotten so much better. I'm waiting for the server issues to be resolved before I jump back in but it's great to see this finally being embraced by the community. As was explained, the devs designed a game around the community and it shows.
Thanks for the review! I'm 50% through the video and I've already decided to download the game for myself. I'm looking forward listening to the rest of it while I play😅
this is probably the best video ive watched from you. love how in depth it was but in an almost podcast format. just listening and learning while I grind monoliths.
I've played this game since it first dropped on early access, seeing the evolution of it has been amazing. Started out as a reddit post and is now going toe to toe with big AAA studios is phenomenal. Love the style btw, keep it up.
I don't think you guys mentioned in important aspect on itemization. Loot from other classes that you aren't playing can drop which Diablo 4 doesn't do and is a huge misstep. What makes arpgs fun is making alts and getting cool items for other classes incentivizes you to create multiple characters (also makes trading a lot more enjoyable too). I have tried many arpgs and could never get sucked into the games for more than 40 to 50 hours. I bought this game on Wednesday and already have 40 hours in the game and I think about it when I'm not playing it lol. Im hooked right now.
Super refreshing review style. Aztecross aware he’s just getting into the game, and wants an expert opinion from someone else to give to the players. Hopefully the server/bug issues get fixed soon, so I can watch you guys stream and play together 👏🏻
I loved this review, it was great to hear a genuine conversation about a game Jarrod is clearly very into, and who's also very knowledgeable about the game and genre. As someone who played D3, D4 and PoE, it was easy to see the things about the game that I would enjoy.
This game looks absolutely fantastic, and this style of review video was awesome. Jarrod did a great job answering questions and talking about the game, I can tell he is very knowledgeable about the genre. This has potential to be such a cool game. I love the infinite vault space, that's so huge. The skill trees and build potential and the way the loot sounds like it works really shine brightly for me, and it makes me hype to get into the game. I think something you guys didn't really touch, and I don't know if it will be like this, but typically in other games like Diablo 3 when you make a seasonal character, you're not just doing it to experience all of the new stuff. That's part of it, and as you do it season after season you find faster and more efficient ways to go through the leveling, which is really cool, but there are usually leaderboards that show how high people were able to push in dungeons and rifts, and you could look those up in game, and they typically had builds attached to them so you could see what the masters were using to get that far. It was pretty cool, and added a whole different angle to the game that I personally really enjoyed. We are definitely missing that in Diablo 4 as of the last time I played it (season 1), but if they implement something like that in Last Epoch, the replayability and the thrill of the chase is going to be very high. I'm hyped to check it out, hopefully some content from Last Epoch makes it to the channel while we're in the slow Destiny times!
The fact that a game made by a multi-billion dollar company is competitively losing to a game made by a studio that doesn't even have 50 people is so laughable. It's insane how Blizzard managed to water down one of their strongest IP into a $70 cosmetic store.
I never felt very invested when I dabbled in Diablo III, and I think part of that was there just wasn't a lot of depth to sink my teeth into. With the amount of depth this review went into on the different aspects of the game, I have a clear idea of what to expect if I decide to try it, and I'm actually really looking forward to when I can have that chance!
This is a really interesting conversation. This genre has never been my thing, but it’s cool to listen to a deep dive from someone whose thing it is. Helps an outsider gain a better understanding of the appeal. Very cool.
Brother, I love this interview type video coming from you. You have a really awesome style to your videos, and I would love to see more interviews. Honestly thinking about it, you'd be really good in an educational type of videos. Like the Forgotten Weapons or Kentucky Ballistics of video games or development/production aspects of the industry. Anyway I look at it, fantastic content as always Cross and as always...
This is great content, really indepth and a worthwhile shoutout for a developer built off community members with a passion for games. Not a board room trying to turn a profit
I really think we are on the edge of another golden era of gaming. If we aren't already. Within the past couple of months, we have had Palworld, Helldivers and now Last Epoch. All incredibly successful games, made by passionate small development studios who care about the gaming community and it's future. We all know what AAA studios have been shatting out the past decade (besides single player games) and I'm glad to see studios like these rise up and doing it better.
I'm definitely picking this up. I love APRGs (Grim Dawn / Titan Quest fans, where you at?), and this looks like what I've been looking for. Great video, guys!
when i was hard in to destiny, you were my favourite, not bc of your skill in Destiny or anything destiny related but just because you were entertaining to watch. After totally walking away from destiny, your destiny content, while entertaining, was just not something i wanted to watch, seeing you make videos on other games i just so happen to like, or even if i dont like it or havent played it, is nice. i hope you continue to make videos on other games, because its great to watch you man. very epic
EHG has had a really rough launch with this game, but have been in the discord giving updates on progress the whole time. If anyone is frustrated from the connection issues, just be patient, this game is absolutely worth it. The devs brought passion back to Arpgs, the same way the devs at PoE have.
Cross if I knew you in person I feel like we'd be great friends we have a lot of similar taste in games and I love that you cover all the games that I love. Keep up the good work brother!
Just started LE and am enjoying it. In college my roommates and I would install Diablo 2 on the computer lab computers and had our characters on a 3.5 floppy so we could play late at night all together. Played D3 but only with friends. I didn't like playing the meta, but couldn't win if I didn't. I'm about 6 hours into LE and loving it.
I'm a Destiny day one veteran, and I've always seen Aztecross as a voice across multiple games and genres. I know Destiny was and can be addictive, but this is just better for him and for everyone. This is an excellent in depth Review. This is the second time I'm watching it...and I don't even have the game yet. My brother is disappointed that I've lost interest in Diablo 4 because I told him I'm bored to death and I feel like I've been playing the same game for the last 10 years. SMH! Games like Epoch are what the players and the industry need. I love this type of review...Just-J for the win! 👏 Cheers!
Loved the long-form review. Just getting into LE now and I'm excited to hear about where the endgame is going to take me. Great video Cross. Excited to catch you streaming this and for more LE content.
PoE does touched time travel with the Legion (Timeless Battles between different Factions ) and Alva Temple (Killing Engineers of Temple of Atzoatl from the past to shape the present Temple to get target loots) league mechanics. It's not a PoE staple in terms of gameplay and story but definitely touched that concept. There's a lot of LE mechanics that was insipired from PoE too like: Monolith - Synthesis Circle of Fortune - Prophecies Arena - Simulacrum Regardless of which is which, both games did a very good job at getting those mechanics to be implemented in their own game. Hopefully you can explore PoE too.
Haha, look at Jared shooting his shot at the end there. He is definitely knowledgeable on the game and the development of the game. Good insight on him noting the review companies not knowing the full story. Hammer more of these vids out fellas! Builds ect
Great reviews! The servers were much better yesterday and we played 3-4 hours without any major issues. It was a fun experience. There is so much to learn and explore in this game. The $40 is definitely worth it.
Last Epoch actually takes a lot of notes from POE. The itemization and affixes/implicits, the way stats work and armor/dodge are similar. Things like how damage scales and even effects like ignite. Not to mention the style of itemized crafting. The developers even said they were inspired by POE. So it’s a good in between of Diablo and POE that brings in those players that want deep mechanics, and the players that don’t want to have to think about much.
Banger video Cross. Excellent detail by your man there. I loved the interview style. This sounds like a great game with lots of innovation which is a breath of fresh air in today’s game market. I definitely need to give this game a try.
Game seems to be stable now As a massive D2 fan back in the day and arpg fan in general This is definitely one that does A LOT of things right and I really look forward to the future of what the devs bring to the table.
I'll go ahead and say that this dev team is the last dev team I wan't to see hate for. Like, these guys are genuine fans and lovers of the genre and they are easily among the most transparent and hard working devs I've ever seen. Very very unfortunate situation and I hope they can fix it soon so people can start enjoying this absolute gem of a game without this whole negativity and hate around it.
Last Epoch's story is actually very well put together, it's not complicated.. people just don't want to pay attention to it. I can't wait for them to release the next 3 acts of the campaign, there's so much they can do with it.
Love this game - been playing it figuring out the synergies with builds. Not as complex as PoE but not as simple as D4 - they built a perct balance. Also love how I can use skills from other classes under the base class.
great review and looking forward to see more on last epoch from you all! (EDIT: also, be cool to see you doing a collab with other LE creators like @DarthMicrotransaction or @Raxxanterax) couple things i think were missed (tho admittedly i skipped some of the endgame sections). first, how gifting items between party members works. second, the fact that the purchase is one time and includes all future content (dlcs, seasons/cycles, etc) lastly, i checked but didn’t see you streaming it this week while i was on, but today is the last day of the first round of twitch drops. they’re doing another round starting feb 29, and will keep an eye on your twitch to see if i can catch you blasting LE 😀👍
Correct me if im wrong because i dont know POE but what i miss with these games is enemies are always the same. Like no elemental weaknesses or weakness to magic or kinetic damage. Like you can choose a character make a build and you can play any and all content no problem as long as you have a meta build. In these games there should be enemies with stength and weaknesses in different biomes as wel as weak to magic but super strong armors or the other way around. That would be innovation.
The loot filter is a little intimidating but you can find prebuilt filters that you can just import to your game if you don’t wanna mess with it yourself.
Aztecross moving away from being an only Destiny content creator, which is nice. I wish the best for you and hope other creators do something similar!

This was a great review, it covered a lot of aspects of the game. Thank you so much for making it.
👏 Cheers!
Hyped for the expansion of content focus. Great video
Loved the long-form review. Just getting into LE now and I'm excited to hear about where the endgame is going to take me. Great video Cross. Excited to catch you streaming this and for more LE content.
Loved it and Jared definitely knows what he's talking about, also love LE. Please do more of these.
Loved the review, loving the game. Onwards and upwards!
I'm impressed with crosses interviewing, he did well on the destiny interview with skill up too
PoE does touched time travel with the Legion (Timeless Battles between different Factions ) and Alva Temple (Killing Engineers of Temple of Atzoatl from the past to shape the present Temple to get target loots) league mechanics. It's not a PoE staple in terms of gameplay and story but definitely touched that concept.
There's a lot of LE mechanics that was insipired from PoE too like:
Monolith - Synthesis
Circle of Fortune - Prophecies
Arena - Simulacrum
Regardless of which is which, both games did a very good job at getting those mechanics to be implemented in their own game. Hopefully you can explore PoE too.
Love the review and podcast style!
Really enjoyed this style of video. The depth was great and it was fun to watch and listen. Good stuff.
Haha, look at Jared shooting his shot at the end there. He is definitely knowledgeable on the game and the development of the game. Good insight on him noting the review companies not knowing the full story. Hammer more of these vids out fellas! Builds ect
Blizzard did not create Diablo they bought a studio that pitched the game to them
This style of review was great. 👍🏾 up to Jared. 😊
Great reviews! The servers were much better yesterday and we played 3-4 hours without any major issues. It was a fun experience. There is so much to learn and explore in this game. The $40 is definitely worth it.
Great video, Jarod was very informative and plotted out information in a palatable way.
Love the Last Epoch coverage. This game is truly phenomenal.
Great review!!! Thought the secondary in-depth look was awesome
Great video/interview. J man really knows the game. I am enjoying it and I see why others will.
"innovation", set to 4 hours of frozen orb from diablo 2 in last epoch gameplay *chef's kiss*
Banger video Cross. Excellent detail by your man there. I loved the interview style. This sounds like a great game with lots of innovation which is a breath of fresh air in today’s game market. I definitely need to give this game a try.
Game seems to be stable now
As a massive D2 fan back in the day and arpg fan in general
This is definitely one that does A LOT of things right and I really look forward to the future of what the devs bring to the table.
I enjoyed this interview a lot!
This was a great review and informative listen for sure
I'll go ahead and say that this dev team is the last dev team I wan't to see hate for. Like, these guys are genuine fans and lovers of the genre and they are easily among the most transparent and hard working devs I've ever seen. Very very unfortunate situation and I hope they can fix it soon so people can start enjoying this absolute gem of a game without this whole negativity and hate around it.
I watched the entire thing and I’m definitely playing this. I really like how in depth this review was.
Sure
Sure
Sure
Sure
Love seeing LE getting so much love, deserved ever since the kickstarter.
great review and looking forward to see more on last epoch from you all! (EDIT: also, be cool to see you doing a collab with other LE creators like @DarthMicrotransaction or @Raxxanterax)
couple things i think were missed (tho admittedly i skipped some of the endgame sections). first, how gifting items between party members works. second, the fact that the purchase is one time and includes all future content (dlcs, seasons/cycles, etc)
lastly, i checked but didn’t see you streaming it this week while i was on, but today is the last day of the first round of twitch drops. they’re doing another round starting feb 29, and will keep an eye on your twitch to see if i can catch you blasting LE 😀👍
I really want an Aztecross podcast now.
I really enjoy this almost podcast style video.
