You are absolutely the BEST reviewer and creator on RUclips for gaming!! We love your channel (my friends, some co-workers & I) and always enjoy any new content 🤩 You're smart (despite comments to the contrary) thorough, and extremely detailed. Keep up the great work - it's much appreciated 🎉💯
It's fantastic and even though the servers are intermittently on fire you should absolutely give it a try. Play it in offline if you're not playing with friends.
@TheNamdz nah, theyre always seperate, but its good cause i make multiplayer focused builds; buffing or healing or enemy backstabbing focsued or tanking etc
I'm a Diablo fan also, but LE became my favorite ARPG. It's not spreadsheet complicated, but has enough complexity and variety with class design to keep the fun ramping up. Fun game.
The one thing that turns me off on the game is no character customize , it's not a big deal breaker but I still like to make characters feel like "mine"
Hey Italianspartacus, I recently discovered your channel while searching for Warhammer 3 guides, having just started the game two days ago. I'm now exploring your other videos and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your patience and the clarity in your explanations and interpretations. Thank you!
Still churning out quality content like a boss. Haven't really commented much since we discussed data stuff years ago on your excellent M&B Bannerlord videos reviewing the rosters of each 'nation', but that doesn't mean I've not watched loads of your videos over the years. I usually remember to toss in a like, too, because it's a simple way to acknowledge your very reliably high quality stuff. Cheers
I like the synergy and combos present in the skill trees. I love being able to proc multiple skills that all feed into each other and so far runemaster and necromancer have blown me away. Nothing like summoning some skeletons only to teleport onto them, explode blood everywhere and cast rip blood 3 times and gain blood overload, which sacrifices all the skellys which summons blood spectres and zombies, then the zombies jump across the screen and explode sacrificing all the new skellys and some of the blood spectres which summons more zombies and blood spectres, as the blood spectres quickly attack enemies building tons of stacks of bleeding, all the while autocasting rip blood multiple times a second because of blood overload. So freaking cool
Im not an ARPG player, they actively put me to sleep. But this game.....ive got a 60ish necromancer and a smattering of 20s and 30s. It grabbed me The worst part about this game is going along, then finding a really interesting piece of gear that you can mold an entire character around, and the itch to make a new alt
Been playing ARPGs since OG D2, OG Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, PoE, etc... This one is so refreshing with all the options and features but I'm not overwhelmed. Not sure I can ever go back to playing D4 no matter what they do.
I’ve had a blast but I’ve now reached end game and for the first time I feel like it has plateaued for me a little but there’s enough variety to keep me engaged so far. Love the QOL aspects in regard to being able to respec and purchasing stash tabs with in game currency is so nice.
I have owned LE for a long time Pre 1.0 I never got real far as everything felt clunky. I decided on 1.0 to play through and I am enjoying it. the early level feels blah for me. That said I am enjoy the mid game right now. I have to pay attention to what is happening to leverage abilities correctly. I might have made a mistake choosing my mastery but I don't think so. Time will tell. Thanks for the video
This is a quality review, and appreciate the positive outlook on things overall. That said, and I speak about genre in general here.. Lets stop normalizing Seasons. That is not how ARPGs work! Just look up the whole history of the genre and simply count the cases - only the few big ones did it, most did not. We have around 3 decades of genre history to refer to! Seasons are great for developers, allowing to repackage same content with minimal tweaks. But the users end up being played, tricked into restarting, and not everyone wants that. I've been playing the genre since before D1, usually with just 1-2 characters, rarely ever bothering with seasons. So I want to play an ARPG and complete its story and content, without having to wait another 3-6-12 months (looking at you Last Epoch's still unfinished campaign). By that logic, would microtransactions, bugs, forced always-online mode etc also to be expected in an ARPG? Surely you realize that, no, they are not defining parts of the genre. Then why does punishing players who want to stay on same character / not restart from scratch every couple months, get a pass? Seasons can walk into the sea. End of rant. Anyway, Last Epoch is fun. Greatly appreciated that it can be played effectively and enjoyed with a homebrew build.
Totally I think LE is just awesome! Enjoying every bit and I don’t have to rush everything going at my own pace and the learning curve is mich better than Poe and d4.
I watched this while playing the game lol. You hit the nail right on the head with this review, well done. I am so addicted to the game, i love the longevity of the game. If you like ARPGs you will love this
I'm at late game and the only think I wish were in the game was getting health every level I get, having to sacrifice slots on my equipment and damage just to not get 1 shot on higher maps or looking at my lvl 80 character and seeing it has the same health it has 40 levels ago just annoys me. Now I have to change my gear to add tons of health and vitality perks just to survive the next boss.
Yes!! I would normally never play a minion build, but something about summoning swords like a crazy smelter sounded so cool. I'm having SO much fun with the Forge Guard. Summoning and buffing swords, cleaving and whatnot. Killer mix of void + fire + physical. What a cool idea for a class!
Really informative video and well thought out structure for delivering the information. I appreciate your point at the end about players needing to be more forthright with themselves of what kind of game are they really looking for, ie. "do I really need to get 300+ hours out of this purchase?" So many super-hyped games I've arrived at after the fact and bought GotY editions with all of the expansions only to discover I wasn't in love with it before even the main story was over. And then there are $30 indie games I wasn't expecting much from that I got massive replay value out of. I think the $1:1hr ratio is a great measure of how much criticism is fair to levy against a title. If I get at least as many hours out of a game as it's dollar value I think that's a pretty damn good deal.
Just a quick quibble, Titan Quest and Grim Dawn are not from the same company. They use the same engine, but GD is made by Crate who licensed the engine from THQ Nordic, the publisher/dev of TQ.
If D4 cost me 35 bucks with a plan to do minor things in seasons and major things in the annual 35 dollar expansion, I would have been fine with it. The first run through the campaign and then leveling to 70 was fun. For 70+ dollars I expected more and didn't get it. I expected at least a couple of fun endgame activities/ I didn't expect a launch with known, game breaking bugs like broken resistances and completely unbalanced classes. I also had a lot more fun with the seasonal content in recent D3 seasons than I did with the D4 seasons. I'm having more fun with Last Epoch post campaign than I did with D4 I'll have to see how long that lasts, but I wouldn't mind if it was like D3 for me - play for a bit each season then do other things instead of grinding.
Didn't even know this existed. I have 3 kids. I enjoyed poe, but it was a bit too involved with so many layers upon layers. Just bought this after seeing your video. Looks fun.
Great video! I plan on picking it up as soon as the server issues are resolved. No matter how good a game is its frustrating when you pay for something and it does not work. I have faith in the game they just need to get the backend sorted out before I jump on it!
Yeah they've been stepping it up big so hopefully it should be resolved soon! Make sure you use the nexus store link if you want to support the channel brother!!
Great review. Last Epoch has to be the best ARPG I have personally played. I have been waiting for the 1.0 release for a long time now (I still remember when the void worms was just a blob of purple goo). My favorite part of the game is definitely the class and skill tree - the variety is amazing, and I don't feel that I had to min-max to really enjoy the game throughout early access, and that still stands true now. My only gripe has to be the campaign - some parts of it feels less polished than the others. Example: Chapter 1-3 has really been revamped completely, but Chapter 4 feels very outdated (visually). And when I finally get to the monolith of fate endgame, and I discover that the maps are of higher quality than Chapter 4 :D It's a minor gripe when compared to the amount of content and variety that's on offer here - but I wish it was otherwise. Definitely will be sticking around with this one.
I personally like the idea of the monolith endgame as someone who hates endgame content of resent games. I much prefer a slow leveling system like Diablo 2, even 3 started out about that way, where you slowly level finish the campaign then started over at a harder difficulty. I do think Last Epoch levels way too fast for my tastes, leveling should be about the journey not the destination. I also love the skills system, it is not as crazy as PoE but offers a lot of depth to build the skill as I want.
When i tried poe for 1st time i atleast know some story about elder and shaper which was in 3.7 but here even i am at empoered monolith i still don't remember or know anything about any boss
LE is the most likely to get the most hours out of me in the genre in the next 5 years. POE2 would need to be much less of a job/chore than POE1. D4 just doesn't have good bones imo. Horrendous itemization, laughable build customization, clueless leads and a focus on profits rather than making an amazing game. Rod Fergusson would need to be replaced and Joe Shely needs to actually show he understands the genre and community.
Thanks for the tips! I have been considering trying it. I'm weary of the seasons systems ARPGs have taken... I don't have time to play competitively and by the time I get time, my characters have already expired. It's the constant start and restart cycles... I grow tired of. As a clarification question: It looks like there is zero character customization aside from the name (i.e., gender, hair, skin tone). You are role playing as that specific character (e.g., Geralt of Rivia). Is this true?
Play legacy! No reason to jump on cycles if yiu don't want :) There are tons of appearance customizations but that's a MXC store. Essentially yes though you're playing THAT characters narrative
I like it because I can play offline and I can feel over powered at times. In D4 I could never feel real progression. I can actually make my own builds and make it work. IMO
it's been awhile since I have actually thought about playing this game when im trying to sleep or during the day lmao. I mean helldivers kinda hit that spot too but this game too. This game gets to the point. It feels good to feel strong in the beginning and then slowly things start to get hard in the hard content. Seems as though PoE fanboys argument is if it doesn't take 4k hours to get to endgame or you're not using a spreadsheet it's a bad game.
Thank you for the high quality thoughtful review. I appreciate you making fun of your reading comprehensions as a comical light-hearted jab at POE, but definitely calling yourself stupid is not as funny.
@@italianspartacus unfortunately no. I asked someone on reddit who tried 1.0 and it is still janky. (I tried it a week or two back and refunded due to controller issues). Unless you set a goal of getting a perfectly min maxed character then pushing 1000 corruption makes sense to get those super rare 3 and 4 lp uniques. You are right tho they don't have much pinnacle content yet but this is just 1.0. They have said multiple times that more end game content is the number one focus
I am deeply disappointed with my experience with the game, now that I have finally kind of gotten in and the hype has been sucked out of me, I'm just board with it.
Except that one youtuber noodle who taught us all the dark and dangerous depths of thaumaturgy, who all the gods are and how they fit into the world of wreaclast, and who the fuck that one voice in the delirium was
It literally created the genre, stop dude. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that Diablo didn't set a precedent that other games follow. There's a reason they're called diablo clones
It almost burned me, because the combat is limp as fuck and I wasn't sure I would get my refund because I played 2 hours and 20 minutes before realizing I wasn't having fun. Luckily I got the refund, thank you Steam. Crazy how good the systems look on paper, but the moment to moment game play was just not fun at all.
Most of the game is good but god the campaign is boring leveling feels like a slog fest praying they don’t make us go through it every cycle or I’ll be done

My pleasure brother! It's just a little self deprecating joke :)
If they expand the endgame and improve the animations and graphics this game is a 10 of 10
You say endgame is repetitive but all arpg are the same well in all the ones ive played thats not the point yo it the point is is it funn
I know! That's what I was saying!! :)
What I am confused about is what the difference between offline and online. I have been told you should play offline, but what is the point in that?
It's only because of the server stability issues which should be resolved this week. Play however you want :)
I still havent been able to get thru the d4 story. Last epoch is fun man and soo much better.
Hell yeah dude! Glad you're enjoying!
Lets goooooo! Im here for this review.
the classes and crafting is why its scratching that itch i feel burned by d4 even thoughi know ill play again for the story when it gets more of it

Having watched a bit of gameplay now, it reminds of Wolcen but with a lot more polish to it and faster gameplay.
Hahaha I actually really enjoyed Wolcen. I was bummed when it didn't blow up
TLDW. Will the controller support ever improve? I might buy once it works with controllers as well as D4 or D3 currently do on console.

@@italianspartacus unfortunately no. I asked someone on reddit who tried 1.0 and it is still janky. (I tried it a week or two back and refunded due to controller issues).

Lvl 77 on my first character only been using controller. It's got just a little bit of jank but I would still consider it fully functional.

Original D2 lod didn't have seasons , had ladders but no seasons till D2R fyi 😊
The ladders reset though, with runes that were exclusive to ladder characters. So they weren't specifically called seasons but they were there! :)
@italianspartacus not that it really matters but epoch is pronounced Eh-Pick so i would assume Last Epoch is pronounced the same way.

B. its not a live service
C. it wasnt designed around micro transactions
You get exactly what you pay for
Been having a great time. Where it falters imo are bosses. It's just a bunch of one shots. Not fun.
Shaman is extremely strong tbh...
Sometimes I think I'm the only person that ever bothered to learn POE story and lore.
Except that one youtuber noodle who taught us all the dark and dangerous depths of thaumaturgy, who all the gods are and how they fit into the world of wreaclast, and who the fuck that one voice in the delirium was
At least they won't charge you for everything new the devs make like blizzard does. Blizzard charges everything to every simpleton out there.
100 hours?! Lmfao those are rookie numbers. Step it up son
me reaching my 400th hour on the game and my friend 1000 ... no
Such a great game.
D2 best game ever
Poe story is Yes
Please, D4 is not a titan in its genre, so stop with this kind of bait titles ...
It literally created the genre, stop dude. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that Diablo didn't set a precedent that other games follow. There's a reason they're called diablo clones
It is smelling bg3 burnout here :)
Given enough time they will all burn you 🤷♂️
It almost burned me, because the combat is limp as fuck and I wasn't sure I would get my refund because I played 2 hours and 20 minutes before realizing I wasn't having fun.
Luckily I got the refund, thank you Steam.
Crazy how good the systems look on paper, but the moment to moment game play was just not fun at all.
D4 bad
"power rangers" 😂😂😂😂😂
that game sck
Most of the game is good but god the campaign is boring leveling feels like a slog fest praying they don’t make us go through it every cycle or I’ll be done
I tried it and returned it felt cheaper than last ark. on the other hand are u done making b3 videos? @ItalianSpartacus
Nope! :) more to come. Any subject you'd like to see? I'm just hitting the release of this game before I cycle back
@@italianspartacus Nothing comes to mind atm, I just enjoy the bg3 videos. Your builds are most fun the some others
