This is exactly how fly fishing and fishing in general should be! Absolute fun and laughing while you’re missing fish. I’ve moved from the UK to Perth, WA and found this video because I miss my fly fishing. Absolutely inspired to go back out. Great video 👍🏼
@@darrensaltmarsh8095 welcome to Oz and thank you for the great feedback and support. We only get a finite time to enjoy these pleasures so why not laugh and enjoy them while we can. Good luck with the fly fishing… I’m hoping to wave the wand again this weekend and hopefully share another video. Catch ya 🎣
Thanks mate really appreciate the kind comment. Fly fishing was something I hadn’t planned on taking up for a few more years but so glad I did. Presents a whole new set of challenges and personal achievements. Dust off those rods and start chucking some fluff again mate! 🎣
And… Give him a fishing rod and he’ll spend all his money on fishing! 😂 Thanks for the comment mate, I’d like to catch a few bigger ones more consistently but I’m so addicted to just catching fish it’s hard to tear myself away and dedicate time to targeting the bigger ones. Catch ya 🎣
🌴 great video showing species being caught in Down under , looks like you have the same species of mangrove trees that jump out and grab your leader 😄, it’s cooled down a bit in the Tampa Bay Area in Florida, still catching fish but it slowed them down , it’s time to sit down and do some fly tying and a hot cup of coffee, cheers 👍🏼 11:07 pm
Thanks mate appreciate the comment… I’ve received a few comments from Florida based fishers about some similarities. Would love to have a few of your big tarpon over here. Hinchinbrook (North Queensland) has almost 30 species of mangrove… which is why it’s a protected habitat and why it fishes so well. Summer is firing up here, which can be tricky as water temps can really climb and shut down the fishing. When our wet season arrives it should cool things down a little again and the fish will fire up again. Enjoy the coffee and fly tying… one of the little perks of being a fly fisher 😁😎🎣
Apology for my previous reply mate… I had a question about my skip casting outfit from another video at same time and put wrong comments against the wrong posts! 😵💫😂 I use an 8wt with full floating line. Although… the rod I use is marketed as a ‘predator’ model and I believe it’s actually closer to a 9 weight so either an 8 or 9 would be fine. 🪰🎣

@@sportfishingjunkie will do, will have to chase a barra when the season opens I reckon!
You would never go hungry with the amount of fish you land thats for sure. Reminds me of the old saying "Give a man a fish you'll feed him for a day"
