The real answer is simple, after months of cheese tracks, the new meta is farming the other’s paranoia for content with cheeseless tracks
I got a bit too stubborn to get a time by driving more on the actual route :D
Think the first corners were faster to take on road since you could save a lot of speed, but it was hard to carry that through 2nd checkpoint

After what others told to you. You should definitely create more complex objects by combining the non-collidable cubes together.

The booster pick up could be something like a fire extinguisher shooting out the back to propel you forward just a little bit faster. Use it all at once, or save it for quick little bursts.
Yeha or rockets and how about funky mechanics that it boosts regardless of ground friction and like inside a air stream of a fan it gets stronger etc
@@TheLtVoss But if it is rockets, it should be something like a plain old bottle rocket. Keeping with the soap box derby theme of being generally just scrap you might find around the garage. Plus, I don't think they'd want to have long term boosts or else you totally lose the whole originality of the game.
Plus, I think the fire extinguisher would make for a funnier visual. Perfect for this less than serious game.
@@FUGP72 with rockets I was thinking of fireworks stuff mabye even a bunch bundled together and yeah only a short burst of same seconds and all in one go with no stopping it maby even with ignition delay to make it worse to use because of the soapbox gravity racing theme
But the fier extinguisher could have more potential in like zero gravity maps (kans "too the moon" (more like to the next star because color glowing gray isn't available))
@@TheLtVoss A pack of bottle rockets could be cool. So it shoots them off one by one where you get just a tiny boost each time for a second for each one.
I know Yannic doesn't want to make this just like a MarioKart clone, but I really think he SHOULD add some comical boosters that don't have a huge effect, but just enough.
If you can't see well going through the non-collidable objects, you should combine them together to place a whole track INSIDE the objects!

Combining off-road and on-road paths in a way that makes you choose between them is kind of niche, but by far my favourite type of racing. I haven't played the game, but just watching this track I know I love it.
In my opinion, the two best examples of this type of racing would the mountain biking game Descenders, and the Ba ttle Royale modes in Forza Horizons 4 and 5. This track scratch the same kind of itch those do.
Basically Dapper serving bite-sized cheese instead of as whole.
It's like shredded cheese spread across the map as opposed to the entire wheel of cheese in one spot
I wonder... is it possible to put a normal-sized real checkpoint inside a massive checkpoint?
Like, if you go through the apparent checkpoint, it counts as two checkpoints at once, but if you go on the outside it still makes the noise but only counts as one checkpoint.
If that makes any sense at all?

You should make a track with like a lot of ways to finish it so its really hard to know which one is the fastest
fiets already did this, it was a map with dozens of paths in a circle around the start
The guns in a racing game comes from Car Wars, which was partly based on a short story "Why Johnny can't Speed".
Oh, a Konami code track, where you have to hold up for the entire first two checkpoints, then down for the next to, left right left right, Not sure if there's an equivalent to B, A, or Start but even that much would be cool. It looks like a normal track unless you put in the Konami code and it puts you on an easier path. Not sure how well it'd work because it'd have to be really tight so that you couldn't just skill onto it without the code, but then multiplayer differences might ruin it... Maybe a Trackmania course though.
I'm sure it's just propper group filming etiquette, but I found it super funny that as soon as Dapper starts talking everyone gets super quiet like they're waiting for him to give a hint.
Also, autocorrect is telling me "proper" is the correct spelling, but I just won't accept that.

Really liked this track, was fun trying to find which route was best, and it was hard not to join in looking for cheeses from run 1 lol
9:40 I believe you're talking about Drift City.
Drift City randomly added an "underworld", where guns were attached to the sides of the car, and only in that world you could do crazy spins, and no cars on the streets to dodge.
Too bad the meta there is just not newbie friendly nowadays. I mean, "normal" ranked races consists of the start boost, and drift boost from start to end, copying only the drift boost strat, you will get pushed into the wall, by the other participants, killing your speed.
OG talking now: I was the first to take both of these, sacrificing speed for drift boost, but sparingly used it for corners, until I saw someone else always try drift boosting from start to end, while it was still slower than normal driving. Going off for long 2 years, and I come back to that mess. Trackmania: "No one can take us seriously as a racing game if the fastest way is driving backwards."
Yeah, can you take Drift City seriously when drift boosting is the fastest?

Sounds like Payday. The game that started as a racing game, and turned into a bank robbing game. And the missions where you have a car to drive show how bad the car mechanics were. :)

Dapper should make a track with a bunch of fake shortcuts that just lead to dead ends.
Proposition hide a checkpoint
I dislike these videos where dapper can’t complete his own track’s shortcuts. I NEED to see the podium run
ok ok ok so hear me out here what do you think about a track that has shortcuts in it but you have to take them in a specific order to get a better time. (for instance having the first checkpoint regular then the first shortcut take you super fast to the originals courses checkpoint 3 then having to drive to checkpoint 4 then take another shortcut through the 2nd checkpoint then the end) or having a track that plays frontwards regularly but backwards with shortcuts. Thoughts?
like after checkpoint 1 is a shortcut with super boosters to checkpoint 4, then you have to manually turn around and race backwards with like a secret fan helping blow you that way through 3 and 2, then a secret finish line just before checkpoint one that you can only find when going backwards?
like no indication at all that you need to manually turn around after the big shortcut, and doing so drains tons of speed, but the fan makes up for the lost time.
only issue honestly is people seeing you racing backwards giving it away.

Maybe you could do a map with only fake cheeses and def. no real cheese so everybody who is expecting a cheese is fooled :D (idea might have been suggested already 🤔 )
Right - an underground straight track that goes through all but one checkpoint, other side tracks that look promising at first but use boosters to prevent you from getting back on the main track and again miss one checkpoint.
Make some obvious enough that nobody actually tries the regular track. Then put down a time on the main track and wait.

I think you should put zero checkpoints on a map, but then put absolutely no way to shortcut or cheese.

I keep getting angry seeing this guys videos. First of all he can't even do his own boards half the time. Second, everyone keeps cheating to figure out his secrets. This is sad.
