I love witnessing our elder statesmen affirm the new generation of creatives
Thank you for that recognition
Quest, saying it took him 3 decades to get grounded and that his life is just starting now in his early 50's is kind of mind blowing because here I am in my 30's thinking wtf am I supposed to do now? I've wasted so much time and there isn't much time left. I'm with Willow, 2054 doesn't even sound real. I honestly can't fathom it in this moment. Brilliant interview. I know I'm gonna have to double back on this one.
I'm sure you're on track... just be deliberate.
Day By Day. I am 52, My confidences really didn't consciously hit til i was 40. Don't wait to get older start the journey now and you only have one life one mind one body. Don't give a damn what anyone thinks or says...right now!!!! Everyone's journey is different. Find your voice and you will be fine. Mistakes will happen, you will fall, but laugh it off and continue to fail forward. Getting older is not so bad because youth doesn't last long. More growth more wisdom to get you through.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “ 2054 is right now “ just finish the thing yall that’s it “
I'm 61. Trust me, you are just getting started! And yes, life is short, but life is also long and you do have time. I thought I had missed everything and was depressed about it at age 30, but then my life, confidence, connections, and creative power really took hold starting in my late 30s through late 50s. Many, many folks I know haven't self-actualized until their 40s. That's the decade when you can really take what you've learned and failed forward through, and put it to purpose.
this part. read for filth. what a gentle yet profound hug
empathogen is album of the year!!!
Willow the Empathogen album is a classic imo. Its way more special than you will ever know❤
Spread. That. Word.
Oh but we do know 🙏🏻🤍
If Willow weren't an artist, she could have been a therapist. Her ability to listen deeply and empathize is quite amazing. And she's so young feeding the soul of everyone that came before her.
" *Listening* . . . Some people don't do it well. *Most* people don't do it well." (Willow @ 1:02:17 minute mark)
Willow has raised the bar for artist young and old.
So true...and by the time the general public recognizes her talent, she will be on such an insanely high level of musicality and songcraft...then people will be like "when did this happen"? JK...they won't even appreciate her then. That's OK. At least some of us noticed!
PPFFFFWAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHA good comment.
LAWDD YESSS. She show did WILLOW SHE SUNG THE MESS OUT THAT SONG
@@juanscott7130 what song title ru referring to? - im here 4 it
Willow is so deserving. This album is something special.
need to feel , hear it - meanwhile whats special 4 u ? no spoilers lol x
I’m so glad this popped up in my feed. Being in my 60’s, I have always loved Willow. She is sensitive, thoughtful, creative, willing, smart, true and a breath of a different kind of air . -Uniquely herself, there is no one quite like Willow. Kudos for sharing how Willow blew you away though you are also such an amazing talent!
Awesome. That's great too, that the feed is how you encountered this conversation.
I’m so proud of Willow! She has a matured and blossomed into her truth! Her music and expression is beautifully done.
Well-said. The new album remains in heavy rotation...
Willow is one of my favorite Scorpios!
❤
!!!
Willow is a musical genius.
No. She's go an interesting vocal style and a strong voice. She also has limitless money and solid taste to assemble musical killers to write songs for her to put interesting vocal lines on. She's not a musical genius. She's a good singer who really likes hiatus koiyote
Shoutout to this new album Willow! It’s the first album I’ve heard since Renaissance that I’ve been able to play on repeat and enjoy each track! You did your big one with this album! Felt your soul and your vulnerability and your truth and totality throughout this work! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🛸🛸🛸🛸🛸💜💜💜💜💜
That's high praise!
i’m only 2 years older than Willow and i look up to her so much. such an inspiration and a light 🤍
Big Feelings is such a soul cry - she truly poured her all into this album - much love 🎆
I love her AUTHENTICITY. To just speak what she is thinking and feeling, even if she's doubting herself.
Beautiful spirited, educated and fine young lady. Incredibly unique and special. Playing music by ear is natural for many of us. I've played with and under fantastic musicians who don't know a lick about music theory. Though yes, I've studied music theory. My spirit is too free to subject myself to it. That's why I'm feeling Willow's organic musical journey at her age. She'll love herself forever. For loving her more natural vibration in life. Stay and be who you are people. Love Willow 💓
Willow!!! Wow I have no words. She is an amazing talent and wise beyond her years. ❤❤
I am IN LOVE with This Young Woman
When the interview went off I'm like awwwww back to reality.... Willow transports you not only with her music but her essence. It's all healing! So grateful for this young woman over 15 years my junior! Keep letting your heart lead❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
We didn't want it to end. Thank you.
Willow is an incredible talent. I’m so excited to see where she goes next. I’m here for her journey ❤
Great conversation and Empathogen is really special. She gets bonus points for counting Cocteau Twins as an influence.
Thanks for following up on this all the praise is well deserved and I couldn't agree more she's grown on me and I wish the very best for her and her fam ☸🕉
📣
Quest I love your growth in your spirituality and not afraid to express it. It’s the first step, don’t look back keep striving with this process. People don’t always like us when we’re on a different path. This about you, I wish you well.
Powerful encouragement. Thank you.
Don't put too much pressure on this young woman. She has enough just being who she is. The best is yet to come. Stay low, stay cool Willow..
So true. One thing that really bugs me about culture in America is how we rush to anoint people (in many areas) before they have had time to reach maturity in their respective areas.
@@th2k864 Well put. This is especially true in politics. I don't believe that anyone should be elected to higher offices unless they have spent time working for the people on the ground level. A lot of extremely serious mistakes could be avoided.
Willow just seem so self assured and complete / well rounded 🙏🏾
Always love a new Willow interview 🥹
How's this one measure up?
Great interview - thank you. Look forward to seeing Willow bloom.
Her latest album is some of the most advanced music I have heard lately.
Listening is definitely a talent.
She has the soul of an ancient philosopher i swear

☀️Thank you both for sharing ‘Q & ‘W your manners. A knowingness strength personified….wellness by your patience and interests. A collective of …🪡
I'm inspired by you both. You battle with darkness because you are both light. Keep shining! 🌟✨
What a joy to listen to these two musical minds from different generations sharing common ground.💜✨
Love how she's talking about iReal and standards! Go girl!
Willow is soooo before her time. She’s so amazingly smart. It’s impressive & inspiring all in one.
Generational talent. One of the few nepo-babies giving back to the world and a force for good.
Adore Quest Too
THANK YA
Rick Beato was raving about Willow, I had never heard of the young lass. I'm glad he was raving as now I know too.
Nice tunes.
You had me at 'Pleiadians'.
hahaha
Paradigm shift FOR SURE!!
yesss
I love her. She touches my spirit. I pray that her life continues to touch the world. Stay blessed.
Quest has done soooo many amazing things 🤩. I have been watching since the first Roots video 🥁 before I even knew his name.
Wow. This QLS was right on time…because I finally started listening to her new album today and it is 🔥🔥🔥
We love when that happens. Thank you
Willow is so gorgeous and wise. This album is definitely enlightenment but its also just her jazzy funky punky self you can tell she has studied. People in their 20s now are just trying to survive at this rate, living in this wild present trying to appreciate and learn the past for a better future, I know I am and this album was relatable but also a great escape.
Coping Mechanism dod not get enough appreciation.
Great comment
Yall be hating on her mama like a mf. Never giving credit or love for how well she did by her kids. Anyway, willow is beautiful!
Nothing but love in these comments
@@QLSProducer that doesn’t negate my point
Questlove, I will be your friend. I need a real, sincere, friend too. I totally relate to the isolated feel of friendlessness. It is so hard to find real friends. I thank God for the discernment to identify those who arent. I will be your friend Questlove, and you may become mine.
Willow's brilliant. Great interview
The statement about not being the "whip my hair" girl was so amazing considering how much she has evloved and grown from that. Willow is a gift
OMG QUEST!!!!!! Thank you for doing this I have known for SO LONG how wonderfully AMAZING this young woman is and I love that you gave her THIS platform to speak on and she’s right YOU ARE A SAGE!! I love when the elders get with the young ones and just vibe and bounce off each other. This was absolutely AMAZING ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
- [WARNING: LONG COMMENT] - Don't mind me, I'm just a 48 year old white total music nerd from Arkansas, over here driving my friends crazy because I have refused to shut up about Willow since Coping Mechanism, and I am only getting louder with each move she makes! But, instead of that album being heralded as a new classic on the level of Glassjaw's "Worship & Tribute" (Come at me, bro!), it got criminally slept on like We Are Scientists' brilliant album "With Love & Squalor"...I can't stand to see success measured out in miles, as they say. Mixing rock with pop is A timeless formula: garage rock returned as acid rock then grunge then stoner metal...etc. I take immense inspiration from the way Willow carries herself creatively and personally. She is going to make the music she wants to make, regardless of what the trends are or if anyone is listening at any specific moment (we ARE listening though, some of us). At the same time, she does really want everyone to listen, and I hate the part in writing music where you have to feel like you did it just for yourself and that is OK. As a songwriter myself, I hate that part so much! It is more soul crushing than anyone imagines when a concert or album falls flat and you have an empty venue or a closet full of creative work that nobody wants. I believe Willow means everything that she says in every single song and interview, because clearly her biggest regret was not the fact that Whip My Hair was a hit, but the fact that it represented her not being true to herself. My coworker thinks that Willow's family being famous gives her a huge advantage, but I disagree because nobody can listen to the music for what it is, because I think to them Willow's public persona is distracting...get over it world! She is not going down without a fight! WILLOW FOREVER!
@@u.sbanban Check out the album "With Love and Squalor" put out by the band We Are Scientists almost 20 years ago...there is a massive through-line of history connecting the bands that mixed pop with rock...so many of them went overlooked. I'm just like Questlove who at 53 finds it refreshing to see a young artist upholding the maximum high level of integrity as a song maker, musician, and live performer. She doesn't even use a backing track, much less one that contains her vocals nor requires the use of autotune at any point in the process...these are her songs that were written and recorded the way she wants. It's very compelling stuff for anybody who can see past who her parents are, and realize she is one of the most evolved artists out now on almost every level.
The fact that her family is rich does give her the freedom to do whatever she wants artistically. And being "the daughter of" does get you a bit of free publicity in the beginning. And now that we all know that, she's got to let the music do the talking.
The people (men) who grew up where my father grew up, are my uncles. This is how this conversation feels to me. Which is dope! I love it.
Willow is too nice and pure for this world.
I am enjoying observing Willows creativity & musical journey. She is so unique in many levels. It’s exciting to watch her craft her arts. Love her calmness and intelligence. An olde soul. I am 50 and she is magnificent ❤️🔥🎤🎶🥳🙌🏾🌟💭🎓
Willow is destined for legendary stuff man..may the universe help her prove me right ❤
I’m saying!!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Such an enlightening conversation! Doesn’t get better than this. ❤️🙏🙏
I said this many times...I forget until i look in her face and see her parents who she is related to because she has such self awareness...I love watching her grow. Each album gets better.
I enjoyed this conversation immensely! Thank you both! ❤🙏🏿
May be one of my fav episodes to date. ❤. Whenever I’m feeling uncertain, ungrounded, confused, disillusioned etc., I simply stop and ask myself to remember… remember who I truly am… who am I, I am an expression of the beauty of all creation, the expression of the perfection of existence who’s been given the absolute gift of being in a physical body to experience all aspects of life. Thank you for making this show and making it available to our world. These are precious days and a magical time to be in the world! Be well ~ 👳🏻♀️🙏🧘♂️📿
Loooooving her new Joint. great talk!
She is pleiadian, no doubt about that.

May u live ur best life my mistake
Willow is a great listener
Don't take this the wrong way Quest, but I feel your setup questions are waaaaaaay to long.
To me, your questions should be 5 - 10 seconds and then let the interviewee answer it.
Quest's questions can go on for minutes before he stops to allow the guest to answer the question.
Just my POV, much luv. ✌🏽
I thought he was never going to give Willow a chance to speak😮.
Absolutely fantastic interview. Love Willow!
Wow, thank you!
I love the humbleness of Willow she's grown so much as an artist. Been a fan since day 1 her and Jaden have some serious talent
What a great episode! Absolute gem! Big ups to the both of you! #LOVEandSTRENGTH
1:00:25 so good.
Did my man Quest just casually say he can't let another year go by without putting out the new Roots record? I might cry man.
I'm looking forward to this! 😀
soooo proud of willow....my fav artist right now:)
Big words!
Gratitude
I love Blown Away too.
He said you gotta listen and stare at the speaker! 🤣🤣🤣 That's facts tho. Sometimes you gotta pause the song midway and let it marinate lol.
What was the last song you did that with?
I Enjoyed the conversation.
Amazing conversation..thank you for this
THANK YOU for saying so. We agree.
WILLOW’s new album is amazingly beautiful!!!

Honest observation! Quest deserve more genuine recognition.

that's special what Quest said those last 2 minutes, got my attention, will be looking to hear what you got to say Willow.
Thank you for observing that
Amen! I, too, have been grumpy about music for a few decades now and I am total aligned with everything Amir said at the end! I am refreshed by Empathogen right now and loving her previous couple of albums.
I feel sad but I will be a still 🪲beetle on a needle 🪡. Luv you guys ❤️ my soul is standing behind the curtains applauding the marvelousness and utter beauty of you both. B-Love ⚡️

Quest rocking the chanting mala to impress Willow 🕉 Awesome love it
I love Willow...
I just keep seeing Will as I look at Willow, actually a blending of she and her dad. I know Jada is musical as well but I can't help but feel like Willow is her father's daughter.
I love this interview but i wish there were more questions about the exquisite songs on Empathogen and her choice of such talented musicians she uses. I could care less what cereal she loved as a kid:)
I love this! I juss wanna give yall hugs 🤗
