Thanks for the good video. Just changed it out in like 10 minutes
Great video! You made it look easy and the camera work is awesome, very steady and clear, not shaky and dark like other videos.
So easy thanks for the detailed step by step video, going to try this myself Satirday
Thanks for the clip. Very helpful. Picking the part up tomorrow so I can install it.
great video, replacing mine now. VW is such unreliable car these days, I just replaced fuel cap closure few weeks ago, the car has only 60k miles!
Very helpful, gonna try to get this fixed myself
I see a question below that asked how to get the hatchback open if neither the fob or the normal way to open are not working. That's my problem and I don't see a tutorial on how to open the hatchback manually (for a 2015 Golf Sportswagon). Thanks! Love the tutorial. Ordered my part ($99 online versus $160 at local dealer). Waiting for it to arrive and going to save $200 to have the dealer do it.
Hi there you should enter from the back seat and look for a plastic trim hole behind the lock, or if you can’t locate that or manufacture haven’t made access then you will need to remove the complete plastic trim to get through the lock and manually open from inside. I hope that helps thank you
Man!
Very very well done.
Love it.
This is perfect. Thanks very much for the information, and for knowing how to communicate it effectively!
Just had to do my 2020 Tiguan boot lock.
Short and sweet
Such a helpful video thank you for generously sharing your experience and expertise. My boot lock has just gone kaputt after weeks of being temperamental. It does not respond to either the fob or manual attempts now. There has been a lot of water in the actual skin of the tailgate but I can't work out how it is getting in. I wonder whether the damp has affected the door lock?
Hi thank you, it’s hard to say exactly but if I was you I would check the rear windscreen washer pipe leaks, and wash the car and check the water ingress could be rubber seals, rear light housings.
@@MustangMotors Thanks for the kind advice. My boot switch isn't working now. No sound at all from either manual attempts or key fob. Does this mean the switch in the tailgate handle has gone or will it still be the lock mechanism that needs replacing?
@@Chardonbois hi there here a video, how you can check the switch operation. To investigate the switch or lock, if it does work please do write again. ruclips.net/video/0IK2UAO61dg/видео.html
Thanks a lot details are great
Wish you had made video that shows how repair the thing.
Hi mustang Motors
Thanks for the tutorial is really good .
You know I took off the actuator to checkout if it has something broken inside, I didn’t find nothing weird. So I reinstalled but the door still doesn’t open and the backup camera is off and the system show in the panel of instrument the back door is open
GIL839 hi did you connect the electric wiring, you may have problem there.
@@MustangMotors Hi. I did it but I am going to check it out again if a didn't connect properly.
Great video, but how do I open the tailgate if the failing lock mechanism won't allow me to actually open the back hatch in order to get at the problem? Is there a way to manually open the tailgate, maybe by means of a hidden keyhole (much like the hidden keyhole that is on the driver's side handle)?
Hi there is access to open tailgate from the inside the vehicle. You will need to remove a small plastic trim behind the lock.
I have exactly the same issue!
For anyone with the same issue, I was able to crawl in the back of my 2014 Tiguan and there's a horizontal slot I could swipe my key (or any thin rigid tool) to manually open the latch.
Well done
Muy bien !!!!
gracias
How come u did not take out complete trunk panel u have to know what u doing otherwise u will have problem getting it line up
How do you get it open to change the lock? Mine is closed, locked and broken.
hi so do you use the same bolts or do we have to buy new ones
Do you have to disconnect the battery while changing the part? Thanks!
Anyone knows how to remove the M8 bolts? I mean which screwdriver type should I be looking for? My kit has M2.0 - 5.0 but no M8
I replaced mine like so, was easy but when I closed it it now WONT open ?! Any idea why ? The fob doesnt unlock it, when I press the button the latch doesnt engage ?!
Hey this is my problem too. Can I ask how you resolved it?
Hi mate, thanks for sharing, I got a 2014 VW Touareg having the trunk lock latch problem, just wondering if it’s a similar procedure to replace it? And are this two cars using the same lock latch module? Thanks in advance.
Ben
Ben Zhang hi mate they should be the same. May be different lock part no.
@@MustangMotors Thanks mate :)
Hello,
Could you explain how to change the rear stand light at the back door? I don't mean the fog light. :) Thanks in advance.
Hi there if you remove the plastic trim behind the lamp. You will excess the light housing it’s not difficult.
Did you have to deactivate anything before or after replacing the lock? Thanks
Nicholas Hermann no I didn’t had to, straight forward. Note: Lock and unlock the door lock that reset the lock system
How come my XZN M8 socket doesn’t fit on these bolts? I own a Capri set. Mine is too large.
iGIVEH2OPE hope you found a small size tool
Changed mine and now have a boot open light on the dash. Anybody had the same problem?
Faulty part?
Mines won’t even open from the inside… is there any other way to open it lol I’m stuck
Hi can you try removing the plastic trim of the boot cover from the inside, usually there is a quick release to open the boot from inside or you may need to unscrew the lock it may be difficult but it’s the way forward
Thank you 🙏🏽. I will try it this weekend.
What's the name or code of the replacement part ?
