Yeah it was hard to choose the best scene from the movie to put up, but in the end it had to be Tiger in the Trees. Such a strong message of empowerment that all should heed.
its not too late. all my pains, me regrets, I will gather them together. My daughter will hear me calling even though I've said no words. She will climb the stairs to find me. She will be scarced because at first her eyes will see nothing. She will feel in her heart this place where she hides her fears. She will know. I am waiting like a tiger in the trees. Now ready to leap out and cut the spirit loose.
Such an incredible scene. It's an incredible score as well, and hard to find. Fortunately I DID find it and I'll be using it on a mix in the very near future. :)
I'm crying now for my older self bc I was so afraid & full of self doubt as a younger woman & until 10 yrs ago, had no strength to break free! This movie, this scene is forever etched in my soul & maybe, just maybe... there's hope for me... maybe time will move a little slower & allow me to reclaim that which I have lost, allow me to have that which I've never had...
My very favorite scene in the movie. It’s so easy to be conditioned to settle for less than we deserve. When we realize what our worth is, that’s when the healing begins.
Absolutely, and then there's that whole OTHER part of the movie where the mother kills herself and the daughter becomes a people pleaser where again they tackle the subject of knowing your own worth. So many great lessons to be learned from The Joy Luck Club. Thanks for the comment!
I could’ve sworn, when I saw it in the cinema in ‘93, that the line was: “…leave this lop-sided house and this lop-sided marriage…” but I guess I added to it in my mind. Shame, ‘cause what I THOUGHT I heard was so inspiring and stayed with me since that day.
This scene helped me leave a bad bad man just like Harold 😯 🙏🏾
So glad you got out, life is WAY too short to waste on selfish, controlling people
Absolutely emotionally devastating and poetic. Bravo.

I wish when she was young somebody would have told those words to her...😢
This movie made me cry when I was a child.

Loosing him will not matter, it is you who will be found, and cherished.

Mandela effect 😂
Oh I heard it too when I was young 😅
Metaphorically, that’s what it means.
