  • This video contains footage of Garston and Allerton in Liverpool 1986. When Garston had 2 petrol stations and no speed bumps in the streets. Before those stupid lights by the British Legion and near New Heys school. There is even a clip of the old St. Mary's school before the flats replaced it. South Liverpool FC still had a pitch and a club. Buses weren't privatised and the old airport had plans not hotel rooms. Enjoy.

My grandparents lived in garston, was like a 2nd home to me in the 80s. Used to love the old swimming pool in the village and watching liverpool parading trophies on an opentop bus every year. Remember the binman strike and the park being filled with rubbish😂 that was a sight and smell which cannot be forgotten. Its sad but i get a lot of those trees at tge end of the video have been felled now. Thanks for posting this, taken me back and put a huge smile on my face. Have a blessed day.

Great vid and accompanying soundtrack. Its' crazy how things have changed so much in past 40 years. Looking back I really miss the simpler life of the 1980s compared to nowadays.

I moved out in 1993, i uses to live in Woolton, and then Hunts Cross. I worked in Garston so Springwood Ave was on my commute each day. Thank you for this video, it's just now I remember it.

CRIKEY! WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT? THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! 1986. SOME OF IT LOOKED FAMILIAR BUT I ONLY VISITED LIVERPOOL IN EARLY NOVEMBER 1985 FROM CHORLEY, THAT SEASON. OH MAN THAT LOOKED JUST AS FANTASTIC AS I REMEMBER THOSE TIMES, YOU CAN FEEL THE JOY AND WONDER THROUGH THE SCREEN. IF YOU DID THE EXACT SAME RUN NOW AND THE SAME VIDEO, IT WOULD HAVE NO SOUL OR PRESENCE WHATSOEVER. WHAT A FANTASTIC BIT OF FOOTAGE! AW 1986 ALL OVER AGAIN!

Got to thank my old man for pointing this video out. Left Northmead to live in Southport in 1980 but things look pretty much the same in this video 6 years on. Even the road to the masons (first few mins of the video) where we used to get conkers.
Someone mentioned the shops on Mather Ave - wasn't it (or still is?) the crescent? Used to buy my single records there in the late 70's.
Playing cricket at Cheshire Lines, going onto the railway sidings and into S Liverpool FC.
Hey 31144 you weren't one of 3 brothers were you? I lived at 77 Northmead until 1980. Went to Springwood (sadly not shown) and 1 year at Hillfoot. Carefree days.
