    OMG David...you just saved me a ton of work! When I imported a step file, I always had to recreate default datum planes, parameters, etc just like my start part & assembly. Just tried using your technique, and it has everything! That's awesome!!! Thanks!!! I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. I've been a user of Pro/E since 1998....I never knew!

    Very informative as usual. Can we import step assembly including the assembly constraints and mechanism?

    • @CADPLMGuy
      @CADPLMGuy  3 года назад +3

      No. The STEP format does not include that information as it is CAD neutral. Different CAD programs have different ways of defining component locations.

    When I import my STEP to confirm the export went correctly, I don't get any of the parameters (despite checking include Parameters). Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  • @sconescrewdriverson
    @sconescrewdriverson Год назад

    It would be helpful to dive into those advanced parameters in more detail. What does creating the components as mapped items do, and why does it save me 1 MB of file size? I try to prevent step translation import errors by unchecking the "Extend surface boundaries" option. Will raising the free-form surface degree help translate round operations better? I need more answers.

    Hi David, great tutorial as usual, I'm not seeing the datum planes after setting up the template. I'm using CREO 4.0.

    Hi, KDEDirect seems to only have that KDEXF-UAS35A stp file in the .rar format, so Creo Parametric 4.0 couldn't even find the file at all. So unfortunately I could not follow alongside the rest of your tutorial. How may I please open this model then? Thanks.

    • @CADPLMGuy
      @CADPLMGuy  4 года назад +1

      You can download free software that unpacks RAR files. I’m pretty certain I use 7-Zip.

      @@CADPLMGuy Thank you for your quick reply! 7-Zip worked for me. I'm able to continue following alongside now. Thanks!

    Dear sir !
    When i import step file to CREO PARAMEtric,
    File after import like surface-part
    But i want to solid part
    Can you help me to resolve this problem?
    Thanks you very much

    • @CADPLMGuy
      @CADPLMGuy  4 года назад

      Try changing the model accuracy. But there's a good chance that the geometry you're trying to import is flawed. In that case, you may be able to repair it with Import Data Doctor but my success rate with that path is low.

      I don't know. I haven't used Part Community in years and am not familiar with / can't remember what you get from it.

    if I export an assembly exactly as shown in this video it seems like it worked. But then when I open the exported step file up in Creo, there are some parts missing, some parts in the tree on the left are marked red and lots of errors pop up ("import validation error, couldn't create volume" or something like that). I have no idea why and it really annoys me. Does anyone have the same problem or even better a solution?

    • @CADPLMGuy
      @CADPLMGuy  Год назад

      See my video on the Notification Center. You can turn off import validation there. I think that check was added after I created the video.

      @derdon2638 Год назад

      @@CADPLMGuy thanks for the very quick response on this rather old video of yours. If I turn off the import validation the errors and the red text in the model tree disappear but the parts are still missing, they are in the model tree but you can't see them, there's no volume created...if I open just the affected part from the model tree there's nothing to see, just an empty canvas

    HOW TO SAVE STEP MODEL WITH COLOUR IN CREO 9.0

    • @CADPLMGuy
      @CADPLMGuy  6 месяцев назад

      WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING? WRITING IN ALL CAPS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF SHOUTING.
      STEP AP 203 does not support the export of colors. Use either STEP AP 214 or AP 242; both support the export of colors. It's dependent on which Application Protocol you select for export, not which version of Creo you're using.
