I mean when D&D said they don't care about the magical & mystical elements of ASOIAF it should have been obvious that the show won't do justice to Martin's work and S8 was doomed.
So true. It's why I don't believe her story will end the same way it did in the show, even if Jon does kill Daenerys it will be for a completely different reason and likely be something to do with the Others or the need to balance Ice and Fire
@@sydnitheromantictaylor112 The only reason I can see Jon killing Daenerys in this context will be if while trying to save the world , she becomes a White Walker herself so he has to kill her.
Exactly. Anyone who says the books will end like the show is just brainwashed by Dumb and Dumber's writing (or they're too stupid/lazy to read the books)
It's hilarious that some people think Dany wakes up "mad queen" after her fever dream in the dothraki lands. They think "remeber who you are" means she's mad like her father. 😂😂😂 Such a basic idea. Thankfully GRRM is not basic.
She was literally walking back to Meereen on bleeding feet to take care of her people when the Khalasar found her. So no she never flipped a switch or anything there. It’s absurd.

@@georgiamackinlay5706because it’s a bunch of toxic fans who find her boring or overrated and want to give justifications to hating her by wanting the mad queen turn to happen. It’s very misogynistic and immature and D&D fed into that because they can’t write female characters like well instead they made her cold and demanding to the point Emilia spoke up about it.
Luckily not just season 8. There was so much more to all these characters, stories, the world in the books that GOT simplified to an absoutely nonsense, unenjoyable level.
Please point out which page specifically & explicitly expresses an event where one dragon is able to kill one Other/White Walker using its fire breath attack?
I really like the idea that using dragons for the conquering of man is a trap, the hubris of a dragon lord's power leads them to the obvious conclusion that they should be king/queen simply because no one can oppose them. Dany realizing that a true dragon lord has the power to actually change the world fits so well with GRRM's anti-war message! Great vid!
If there is a hero in Game of Thrones, it's Daenerys. She's flawed and often ruthless, but her heart is pure. She will never be a killer of innocents. She must redeem the sins of the Mad King, revert the curse of Targaryen madness. The final battle is between the cold cruelty of ice and the cleansing fury of dragon fire. Even if Martin never finishes the series, it is so.
I would only differ in that its Jon and Dany together, before Dany loses it and burns Kings Landing and Jon refuses the throne (leaving Bran to inherit it as the three eyed crow planned).
@@nickbrough8335 there's zero evidence or foreshadowing that Dany will burn a city. There's a LOT of foreshadowing that Cersei will cause major destruction with fire though. The show isn't confirmed by George.
Dany's biggest lesson will happen when she connects the dots between the Valyrian Empire, modern slavery in Essos, the Dothraki and the cities who thrive on owning slaves. To me, one of the ways she can right the wrongs committed by her ancestors, is to understand that a good and just queen must protect her subjects from harm, first and foremost. She will do this by not becoming a queen, but by burning the Others and ending the cycle of summer and winter. I just started this video, but you can't imagine how grateful I am for stumbling upon it. It gives me a bit of solace to know that there are still people who believe she will not become a tyrant.

Or may be the Night King is the Song of Ice and Fire in the TV show... stupid D&D? Though I am starting to learn toward Evil Jon in the books, and maybe he'll be unable to be burned.
@@pipitameruje Yeah, and I also believe that maybe the army of the dead aren't exact bent on killing the world. I think they want Jon Snow to kill Euron Greyjoy for upsetting the balance, but something else is manipulating Danny into destroying them. Or trying too.
Unlike Rhaegar, Dany actually has some smarts and self-reflection abilities and will most probably win because of being a startegist and learning from the likes of Baristan
Ram-C Have you somehow missed her attacks on the cities of slaver's bay in the books? The way they made plans and how strategically she acted with all the envoys etc? Arthur Dayne was not there before the battle of the Trident or at it, that was Rhaegar's first battle and he thought he can handle it, when he talks to Jaime he seems sure he can win - and based on what? Do we kniw if Rhaegar listened to Baristan at all? He had no prior military victories. Yet he acted so smug. With Jaime he is sure he will get back. Also Jaime was just a kid back then. He listened to no one's council as far as we know, andsurprise surprise he lost. She has already proven herself to be so much better battle commander and strategist than Rhaegar. She listens to council, she knows how to behave in front of enemies or potential partners, she is actively asking them to teach her important military strategies (We know this since Baristan taught her how to count the numbers of enemy forces), she know to send out scouts, and Dothraki scouts at all, she knows the strengths and weaknesses of each different section of her army

I think I'll be stuck on a loop, the same as when Oberyn died. I read that chapter repeatedly the first time. I just couldn't diggest it, I couldn't get past it, because it meant that Tyrion was toast, and my brain could not, and would not, accept it. I swear I expected the text to change in between reads. So I think i'll have another of those moments, except worst, because it will actually be happening. Seven hells, are we in for some heartbreak.
I never would’ve thought to put the connection between the white walkers in the unsullied together. That’s why I appreciate your videos because you’re always put things in a different perspective you make me go back and re-read the books.
She's like Spiderman. Tells her husband she wants to claim the iron throne, then after unfortunate events he dies because of her desire. Then gets gifted with powers via her dragons and decides to use them to help the most amount of people she can.
If we think quaithe is shierra sea star than we have her and bloodraven supporting two different champions. Funny we never really speak of dany in the same breath as bran but they are the two most magical characters right? Also the show robbed us those two interacting on screen
@@PedroLucas-mg5je While Bran is very important to the overall story and he may well end up being the main character by the end, I don't think he's one of the heads of the dragon. It's Daenarys, Jon and most likely Euron as the antagonistic head of the dragon.
You all have forgotten Tyrion. He had dragon dreams as a child, plus he was the only other person the dragons allowed to touch them (until Jon in the series). Drogon flew over Sir Jorah and Tyrion and I'm pretty sure it was because he sensed/smelled(?) Targaryen blood nearby. There were rumors that King Aerys lusted after Tyrion's mother and in the books, there were questions about Tyrion's parentage. Targaryens are also known to produce monstrous looking babies that are miscarried or usually die soon after birth. I hope GRRM makes this happen and Tyrion will finally get to ride a dragon. Edit: Also, book Tyrion had very pale hair, didn't he? I think Tywin knew Tyrion wasn't his son. He only called Tyrion his son when he was staring at him on the loo with a crossbow aimed at him.
@The Program I just recently started reading the books, so I guess I'm a newbie in that regard. I started watching GOT videos after binging the entire series before the final season started. I'm not sure how long I've been following LML, but he's my favorite ASOIAF youtube creator(channel).
“Burn Them All” Aerys could have seen the Nightmare to come. He’s madness was just the product of his dragon dreams. Aerys had no dragons to tame and he felt powerless, use wildfire as a substitute.
Absolutely brilliant. I don’t really understand how a careful reading of the books can lead one to any other conclusion. Thanks for your careful analysis and explanation of foreshadowing.
Not going to lie, LML has made my reread of ASOIAF a lot more interesting. And, along with Quinn, has stirred up my love for GRRM's creation after the butchering it was subjected to.
Was not expecting this so early in the day. Also, the word Robot is drawn from an old Church Slavonic word, robota, for “servitude,” “forced labor” or “drudgery.” So its an apt description for the wights who are enslaved to the will of the Others.
Isn't "rabota" also "work" in Russian? And "rob" is "slave" in Serbian. I volunteered as a hostes on a robotics festival few years ago, and there I learned Yugoslavia had the first school of robotism and they gave robots the name
I've been watching everything you have for months now, quietly. You are the only person I've heard mention Graham Hancock in the same sentence as ASOIAF, and the whole idea of the mythical astronomy is absolutely fascinating. I look forward to each and every one of your videos. Thanks for taking all the time you do with them! ❤🐉🐲
Right!! I feel like LML is the only channel doing deep discussion of those themes!! Its so important to the "bigger picture" intent behind the books for sure. Part of why LML is the only channel whos equipped to spend a lot of detailed time on the Nyssa Nyssa/Lightbringer/Bloodstone stuff imo
Her destiny is linked to The Others, and it's obvious. I also think she'll burn Volantis since it's the center of the slave trade, and her entire arc is about freeing the enslaved. I think Cersei will be the one to destroy KL when FAegon attacks KL.
I'm pretty sure KL will end up burning green, courtesy of Queen Cersei, without Tyrion's involvement. I feel like the books draw a lot of parallels between Mad King Aerys and Cersei. Aerys grew particularly unstable after being held at Duskendale. Cersei has been going sideways ever since Joffrey and Tywin died, leaning on people that will tell her what she wants to hear instead of truly advising her... and then, she is held prisoner by the Faith. Not to mention her previous dalliance with wildfire, during the burning of the Tower of the Hand, and the way she was enchanted by it.
@@CZ-dg7te Except wildfire burns green, and the people of KL have seen what it can do during the siege by Stannis' forces. They watched the bay burn green that night, they would recognize it.
This is why I feel like Dany won't be involved with the Aegon-JonCon plot. I feel like it would be way too much to cram into the last two books to have her be apart of both that plotline and this one. "This is how it was meant to be. The other was a nightmare, and I have only now awakened." sounds like her realizing her "true" purpose, which does not involve chasing the Iron Throne.
Eva Pomerleau Well based on the amount of things he has to un-knot and the fact that he is planning two books, and also based on the names, seems like the battle for the dawn will be the last book. But I still don't get why people think Dany would be so keen on being against baby Aegon. Pretender or not, she always wanted a home and a family, we know how kind of a person she is, for her first reaction only makes sense that she would be excited that maybe she has some remaining family. And if it happens that the dragons don't like him, and she knows how Rhaegar and Vyseris looked liked and Jon Com says baby Aegon looks like Rhaegar, she will just know.
Hypatia Ravenclaw Kovalevskaya Sklodowska exactly!! Dany finding out that she has family left, that she’s not alone in the world, would be a positive thing to her.
@@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 Though I do agree with you on Dany's side of things (she would love to have some family remaining), I'm inclined to think that Young Griff/F'Aegon will be his own undoing. He will either push Dany towards the Throne (let's not forget that, the Throne is his aim) and get pushe dback, because Dany knows that there's no point in fighting for the Throne if they all end up frozen and soulless but not quite dead ebough, or... he goes rogue on her, tries to take one of the dragons and gets either turned into barbecue or maimed to the point of being useless. Not to mention the issue of F'Aegon (or actual Aegon, though I doubt) having a better claim to Throne than Dany's, and that being potential divisiveness to the power of ten, when they really have to stick together. Dany's people, even if not Dany herself, may be frankly hostile to Young Griff/F'Aegon/ Aegon. The boy was raised to rule, unlike Dany, and is entitled in a way that may break him (or I got that feeling from him in the books).
@@pipitameruje The original plan was to join Daenerys. His purpose is the throne, but the idea was to conquer something and not come to his aunt a beggar. The ultimate goal is to be together. And Dany actually has a thought where she thinks how she would be closer in age to Rhaegar's son and probably would have married him and not Vyserys. Aegon was raised to think of the people, as Varys says they raised him to believe rulling is a responsibility not just something to be entitled to. When he finds out about the threat of the Others, you really think he will not join the fight? And it doesn't really matter who has a better claim when 1 - most likely they'll both die in the battle for the dawn and 2 - even if they don't, they can rule Westeros together. Targs marry Targs, remember? The claim is not an issue. And why would Dany's people go against Dany's will? That's a lot of mays and mights and potential And even if he wasn't Rhaegar's son (which I doubt) he obviously has some dragon blood. Enough to look like Rhaegar to Jon Con, dude who is in love with him for the past at least two decades. If dragons liked brown ben plum with his "drop of dragon's blood" and Dany is already looking for the two other heads of the dragon, why would there be issues?
@@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 I do think F'Aegon (I don't think he's truly Aegon, but I could be wrong) has not been exposed to enough "magical weirdness", so to say, to take the Others seriously. Not until some real shit happens and he is forced to face the reality of White Walkers and wights being more than old fairytales. I think he'll stick to conquering more of Westeros, until he has to go North to meet Dany, and only then eventually join the fight. The claim is not a finality issue, it's a "getting there" issue. Targs marry Targs, but not often actually share the crown and the power (of course Dany and Aegon could). And, as I said, it's each of their closest people that I see being an issue, not Dany and F'Aegon per se. Dany has an entourage and F'Aegon has another. They both have people in those groups vying for certain positions and banking on them becoming rulers. From the moment you get two Targaryen claims to the Throne, every position becames something to fight over for their entourages. Even if it's no matter because they all die in the Battle for Dawn, up until the battle it will be a source of conflict. F'Aegon looks Valyrian, that's not something exclusive to Targaryens in Westeros, let alone when you're dealing with a kid that was raised in Essos. He could just be a Valyrian looking kid, born in Essos, raised from the crib to play Aegon. I realise that could be quite the long shot, since we are dealing with Connington and I don't see the man willingly creating a F'Aegon (especially considering his feelings towards Rhaegar), but he was exhiled well before the Sack of King's Landing, he couldn't have taken Aegon with him. He could have later been presented with a Valyrian looking baby and told he was Rhaegar's son, and used in this plot through his undying loyalty (and love). Also, the dragons tolerating people and letting them actually ride them are very different things. And I do believe the Aegon vs F'Aegon question will be answered through those dragons, as will the matter of the other hidden Targaryens - Jon and Tyrion being the most popular candidates. A lots of mays and mights and potential is what we all have until we get the books. That's no argument, for or against anything. We can theorise and discuss hints and share opinions and what not, but all we have, so far, is mays and mights and potential.
"Ten thousand slaves lifted bloodstained hands as she raced by on her silver" sounds like weirwoods waving as she sails the astral sea. You've spoken on Nissa Nissa *becoming* the weirwoodnet. Is Dany destined for something similar? How do you see the magical mechanics of that working? Would Dany retain any sense of identity or does she melt like Ygritte in the Winterfell pool and become a kind of elemental mother goddess? I like the idea of her purifying the weirwoodnet by fire and undoing the icy segregation that Azor Ahai/Night's King created.
Yes, for sure, and of course everything about the Undying is like inverted greenseer stuff. I’m not sure what happens to Dany but it seems like giving herself to the weirwood net is part of it! I might do a part 2 to this to talk weirwood angle :)
Good stuff, I really hope Dany gets a far better storyline then the show gave her but not convinced yet the GRRM wont make her do a heel turn. Great artwork too and that Daenerys Hiding in the Dothraki Sea by Hanhange is actually really cute and reminds me randomly of Princess Mononoke. Sure D and D would argue that the ants are those in kings landing not the others because they said how she isnt on the ground

We usually talk about the non-magical people as "stand-ins" for the magical ones (kingsguard for Others, unsullied for wights) because the magical ones are the endgame Big Bads, but from a literary perspective, it's really the other way around. Our author is expressing his anti-slavery morals, and in that way, the magical Big Bads are stand-ins for real-world non-magical oppressors.
If Martin is a good writer, which he is, there are only so many sensible endings he could come up with for the series. Becoming Mad Queen doesn't feel like a sensible ending. Maybe sacrificing herself to destroy the Others, in that way both fire and ice would die out. It would be sad but if written well I think it could be accepted. I still want Dany to live to the end of her days obviously, but not every hero gets to do that. Some die in a blaze of heroic glory and we love them all the more for it.
Interesting the unsullid killing a baby just like the Others do (or what ever they do with the babys, transform them into a new Other). The unsullid are also castrated and can't reproduce by themselves. The masters need new human sacrifices in order to make more.
And also Maester Aemon telling Jon to kill the boy and let the man be born. Jon the boy is now dead and in order to be reborn as a man he needs to kill his puppy Ghost...

The Dragon dream in a storm of swords, daenerys riding drogon and burning an army of ice soldiers under the banners of the usurper. "the other was a nightmare". Also dragonfire is magical in the first place, since valyrian steel is produced thx to it, so it's illogical that dragonfire doesn't have any effect on the others as portrayed in the show
One nitpick about the Night King's death on the show: The dagger Arya used was Valyrian steel, not dragonglass. Your point obviously still stands, but that detail wasn't quite right.
@LML I am sure that you are joking about the horse, but that horse, whether mean to be same horse or not, is the one "Harry" of the "Golden Company" was knocked off of before he was trampled to death and stabbed by Mad Worm. Another waste of a good character. I am talking about the horse. The horse would have done a better job at defending the city than Cercei did.
I’ve always thought Dany would die in the battle again the others. That she would die a heroes death. I can’t believe I barely found this video. I love it

Made me think or makes more sense all the R’hlore customs and religious practices like you’ve said in prior videos being things they’re forgotten or that have changed with time like fire cleansing being warped and their fire wights being like you’ve said all being customs and secrets they’ve forgotten.
A couple of reasons why I think this theory is fundamentally correct: 1) Zombies have always been referred to as the undead condition, one both in counterposition to life and death. It is life, without any of its good qualities. Without its freedom. Now, this of course is a metaphor for slavery, for the dehumanizing aspects of bondage. And this is a fact since such myths appear in culture and religions that have endured subjugation and slavery. Think about hoodoo and zombies. Wights are effectively the Slaves of the Others. What is important here is that some myths show them suffering internally, imprisoned: as a real alive person would be. I do not think the wights feel like they belong, like they fit in. We do not know if their souls are caged in there, somewhere, wailing 1.1) Another interesting aspect about this is the slaves' condition "uprootedness", that is a lack of foundation, not belonging to a place. That is related, of course, to the fact that slaves were bought or subdued and brought to places were they didn't belong. This brings about a very particular form of syncretism, as can be seen again with hoodoo, a practice that combines Christianity with Yoruba. And there are parallels to this in A Song of Ice and Fire. Think of the huge syncretism that is the cult of the Faceless Men, former slaves, to the One God with many faces. And also the wights have an even greater syncretism: all manner of races of Men, plus Sentient Creatures and even Animals coexist there, not as equals as such, but serving the same Masters, equal only in how much from their concrete freedom (their mode of life) has been taken from them. As the Unsullied, their very names have been taken away, and it is for them to reclaim it. 1.2) Another related notion is that in ASOIAF, both resurrection and deathlessness are de-humanizing. True freedom requires concrete boundaries, as boundlessness is also a lack of definition. Resurrections in the R'hllor manner, as in Beric Dondarrion, chip away a little piece of he who comes back. And Lady Stoneheart is an even more traditional ghost: only coming back for haunting, trapped in this realm, only set on one particular ambition. The same happens for deathlessness: think of the coldness of the Undying Ones, completely analogous to the Others. 2) Finally, Dragons in ASOIAF are a symbol of concrete freedom, through flight of course. But also through their capacity for struggle, for war, and finally their independence, which is not the same as loneliness. And riding them then is riding such freedom. Using them for slavery and conquering, for the subjugation of the Many by the Few, is something that does happen, but in the end it limits the freedom of those involved: the Masters are bound to their Master condition, and they will not release it but with struggle (with violence), and the Slaves are denied all freedom, and can only win any through violence, whilst keeping their humanity saved from the inhuman aspects of slavery. (I am thinking here of a simplified version of Hegel's master-slave dialectic, and the parallels with his philosophy of history, about the concrete development of freedom in History). Dany, by contrast to her Valyrian ancestors, uses her Dragons, her power, her freedom, to break the chains, to free those who have been subdued. And she also uses it, though not mistakenly, to oppose those who would oppose such acts. She effectively acts as a progressive figure bringing about freedom to all - with its hardships, mind you, as can be seen in the conflicts that happen in Slavers' Bay, with both masters and slaves adjusting to the new reality. 3) I particularly appreciate the detail of the "melting", rather than "burning". Ice is transparent, and heat can burn it away. The metaphor is that of a mirage, of a paper tiger. Dragonfire may be the solution that Dany, as a slayer of lies, shows to the wights, to the thralls of death: that Masters are in the end impotent, toothless, as much as the Unsullied do, tearing them down but only after being given a choice, freedom. A choice for which of course slaying the Masters was the only option. Dany would be more of a liberator than a conqueror. In conclusion, we do not know how the wights will go, but the Lord of the Rings idea of the mere defeat of Sauron, and the destruction of Barad-dûr and the orcs and all of Mordor with it, does not appeal to George R R Martin. In this sense, perhaps after the melting of the Masters the wights undeadness is reversed, their wounds transformed into their release, the Gift of death. And freedom is given: some may die happy, some may die very scarily. And perhaps as the Others are being melted away, their grasp on the wights is loosened, and some of them may fight their Old Masters one last time.
great comments Jose, I enjoyed reading them! It's wonderful how tight the parallels are between this most magical of mysteries (wights and Others and what they want / how to resolve their conflict) and the major themes of the books. It's masterful, and there are many layers to it, some of which you've unpacked here. I really love how Dany encourages the unsullied to take their own names... it's such a clear symbol of regaining identity. Cheers Jose
I believe the dragons were born to fight against the army of the dead and somehow her actions will lead her to that very end, if she'll dye or stay alive I can't tell but I believe she will feel responsible for dealing with this enemy . She already know how sad and lonely is to be a ruler, she's always working to find a common ground between the slaves , masters and her own will so I don't think she's mad, there's a point were she says she would give it all up to be with Daario if she could.
OMG this video is astonishing ! It is all I love, all I didn't even dream. The quality of the analysis, so clever, so well demonstrated, so beautifully constructed and illustrated ! And your voice !... Perfect, it's just perfection, thanks so much.
In the show, based on how magic is set up in this world, Danny's flames should have incinerated the Night King. How can dragon glass kill him and not a dragon's flame? Does not make any sense.
D&D said themselves they don’t get the magic of the world of ice and fire which is why the magical elements and aspects were never explored which is why Bran is boring and everything else just felt stale and rushed
E V E R G R E E N content brother, always worth a rewatch to refresh on what seems like foundational thoughts now amongst new school asoiaf channels. I love hearing you shouted out and seeing your work built upon.
Daenerys fate is to end her valyrian ancestry's wrongs, she will burn the slave trade away. And of course, she will be conflicted with her desire to conquer Westeros and her desire to do what is right. But after realizing that "where the dragons danced, people died" she will do whats right and go north.
If Dany still kills everyone in King's Landing, maybe she has no choice. Maybe, to make sure she kills a pervasive infestation of wights, she must kill the living, dying, and dead of King's Landing in a dragon equivalent of a drone strike.
I know this is an old vid but I've been meaning to say... love the montypython- intro lol Also yes fire is absolutely an Ajax for evil... if i recall correctly the first mention of heat equation cleanliness w heat is before Dany meets drogo and steps into the way too hot bath and her hand maiden tries to stop her but she thinks how she like the heat bc it makes her feel clean

Awesome as always. Two things that jumped out in this video: If Dany destroying the heart of winter is important symbolism, how might her ceremony of eating the horse heart fit within that? Secondly, the burning wight attacking Jon and “staggering across the solar” - moon meteor and solar king symbolism?
honestly I am very proud of this theory, I think it makes so much sense and it's such a nice merging of her heart-in-conflict character issues and the magical elements of the story. Sure hope I'm not wrong about this one. WOuld be such a great climax for basically the greatest fantasy character I know of.
My dog perks up and sits still and watches your videos! I think she really likes your voice lol. I put one on now whenever I need her to chill out. Thanks LmL!
RE: her turning the trident into a torrent with the water of melted wights: could that happen?? Could there be an apocalypse-scale flood as the cherry on top of the Long Night Sundae?
All of this foreshadowing, and in the final season, they gave us Mad Queen Daenerys, smh. A theory they probably found on Reddit, where they probably also found out Lyanna is Jon's mother.
Or didn’t wanna make Jon seem like a jerk for killing her so they used Dany as a villain but they didn’t even make it seem tragic at all on Daenerys part but on Jon part they just made it a moment for folks to cheer for her death and she’s never spoken about again. The slaves she freed probably are back in chains for all we know the unsullied and greyworm get killed by the butterflies in Naath like the fact people defend D&D are really stupid casual viewers that are up everything they put on screen and believed it
Great video! Thanks for all of these they are really fun to watch. I was thinking about Dany in Qarth and how the Qarthine custom is to wear dressess with one breast exposed. Do you figure that has to do with the fact thier were two moons but one was destroyed and since Qarth is very old maybe they remember two moons and started the fashion after the fact?
well yes, or I suppose another way to say it is that the custom may have originated with Nissa Nissa having to "bear her breast" for Lightbringer. But there is also specific nipple / moon symbolism... check out the Unsullied getting his nipple chopped off y the slave master and the Blue Bard's torture in the black cells... they both become a red eye, like the gods eye
This was a great video. Really liked all the passages you highlight, honestly you have a great mix of satire style but also a strong knowledge behind it all so it feels almost loving when you course correct what our brains fear will happen to the Queen we don't deserve. Yay birds, they are to cute. Great job all around once again.
This is one of your best works and I've lost count of how many times I've watched it. Dany will become more ruthless and will accidentally burn King's Landing to the ground battling Faegon be ashamed and 5appalled and think she will think of herself as a monster and then she'll learn of The Others and join John's cause and die in the fight, a heroic death. It George was considered turning Dany into a villain he would have told Dan and Dave that but he didn't but he told them about Shirleen's sacrifice, the origins Hodor's name, and Bran becomes King which they confirmed were the three OMG moments he told them about and that they came up with the Dany and Jon stuff themselves. Sorry for the comment Ive been praising Garth
I'm think there's a small chance that Rhaegar might be still alive. I used to kind of roll my eyes at that theory, but what if Rhaegar is still influencing her using a glass candle? Either that or he's just more important to Dany's character than we realize.......I always repeat this, but I think he's actually her real father and Ashara Dayne is her mother. Loved how much you focused on how she is anti-slavery in this!
Main reason I don’t think he’s alive is the narrative one. Entire road is that he died 18 years ago and left a void that Dany and Jon will fill. There’s just no room for him in the story at this point. It’s Quaithe who is communicating to her via candle. Yeah the anti-slavery angle really makes it come together
Thank you so much for these, I bet there is noone on RUclips who puts so much hard work and research into their videos about ASOIAF symbolism. I'm already planning to reread the books as soon as possible and look for all those allusions, symbols and metaphores you mentioned!
It will be really interesting if the Heart of Winter is in Asshai instead of the distant North. It also would make a lot of sense if Daenerys's dragons function as Lightbringer which plunge their fire into Jon Snow resurrected to further empower him and free him from the clutches of death
I mean, dragons can't even fly over the Wall as proved by Alyssane. That must mean something, as in the Others, fearing the only things that could kill them, placed a spell of sorts here.
so YT has made this all more complicated - you now have to not only click subscribe, click the bell, you also hav to click "all" under which type of notifications you want to receive. It's pretty dumb, but we christened it the "triple click"

Great vid!
So GRRM's anti-war message will be fulfilled by Daenerys burning the Others with her dragons...? That's exactly the opposite of the main theme.

If there is a hero in Game of Thrones, it's Daenerys. She's flawed and often ruthless, but her heart is pure. She will never be a killer of innocents. Even if Martin never finishes the series, it is so.

Jon, Bran and Dany are the 3 heads of the dragon!

This is one of my favourite videos of yours thus far! Makes me so excited for Dany's future arc in TWOW and ADOS
Great parallel between the Others and the slave masters..The imagery is a perfect
@@CZ-dg7te Fair enough. Sorry I didn't get that from your initial comment.
@@rdecredico give me a passage from her first chapter that indicates that she is a psychopath
That's a lot of mays and mights and potential
And even if he wasn't Rhaegar's son (which I doubt) he obviously has some dragon blood.
I'm at that point where I really want the books, but I also do not want the books. I need George to write them, but I'm not sure I want what's coming anymore.
Is there a maybe actual blood magic in the making of the Unsullid?
I cant believe that the author had so much capability of putting this incredible story puzzle together, grrm martin is a genius! Great channel!
that's the best response anyone can giv after watching my stuff, thank you so much and I am delighted to turn you on to the deeper layers of GRRM's writing! It's worthy of being appreciated, I think!
@@DavidLightbringer thanks to you for your work!!
@@DavidLightbringer I bet, when grrm said he read a fan already guessed the end of the story, he was referring to you :)
Daenerys won’t burn kinglanding
That bit was invented the last second by Dan and Dan
Emilia Clarke was never even told that this was the case
Show only thank god cause it’s very poor writing
No offense LML if you are a proponent of such a notion
Great work as per always
Smitty the hidden wildfire stockpiled under kingslanding by the mad king is a chekhov's gun
I can see that it was eventually go off
Dany as a mass murderer of civilians is total bullshit
Still pisses me off that dan and dan did Dany like that
Almost as bad as how they preformed character assassination on nearly everyone in Dorne
Hope those posers never get work again
@@mpalfadel2008 I never got why no one did anything about this. Like, Jaime knew all those years and did nothing? Tyrion knows as he has worked with it directly - and they still do nothing to find it. They had Varys! They could have just ordered Varys to find out about it and threaten him for his life (with his life? about his life? sorry, english is not my native lng)
Why is no one talking about the wildfire?
@@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 I feel GRRM is making a point here, that staying passively silent and doing nothing is just as bad as actively causing harm. He's not wrong imo.
I think Jon connington will be the one to burn down kingslanding
Timothy Overton that seems to ring correctly doesn’t it...
Holy shit! I was rewatching your stream from last week like 15 minutes ago where you mentioned this video, and had a feeling you'd be releasing this soon. Can't wait to watch! 🔥
Burning the others and the slave owners are one in the same and I like the way that this way connected and foreshadowed this really well. Do love listening to your deep depth and input on this.
You always do right by Dani, so I was excited to see this video was up, but the Cleo cameos were a great unexpected surprise, I think I found my favorite video on your channel. 💗🦜🐉
She’s a show stealer alright!
The Dragon dream in a storm of swords, daenerys riding drogon and burning an army of ice soldiers under the banners of the usurper. "the other was a nightmare". Also dragonfire is magical in the first place, since valyrian steel is produced thx to it, so it's illogical that dragonfire doesn't have any effect on the others as portrayed in the show
100%
Once more the stars have aligned to deliver us the Lightbringer himself!
I love it
I've spent days/weeks of my life watching your content. I remember when you were first starting to put videos on RUclips. Thank you for always providing binge worthy content and doing so with obvious passion and joy!
Haven't finished the video yet, but it's already so good. I mentally made this connection years ago but it's just so freaking good to hear exact quotes and expanded parallels. Thanks again LML!
Made me think or makes more sense all the R’hlore customs and religious practices like you’ve said in prior videos being things they’re forgotten or that have changed with time like fire cleansing being warped and their fire wights being like you’ve said all being customs and secrets they’ve forgotten.
A couple of reasons why I think this theory is fundamentally correct:
1) Zombies have always been referred to as the undead condition, one both in counterposition to life and death. We do not know if their souls are caged in there, somewhere, wailing
1.1) Another interesting aspect about this is the slaves' condition "uprootedness", that is a lack of foundation, not belonging to a place.
Cheers Jose
@@DavidLightbringer Cheers to you, David! Your channel is excellent, very good topics, solid production value, great research.
This video came out just when I got home from school. Perfect timing👌
And I just got home from a failed exam and this waits for me! Spot on timing, isn't it?
Hypatia Ravenclaw Kovalevskaya Sklodowska something to cheer you up I guess xD
In the show, based on how magic is set up in this world, Danny's flames should have incinerated the Night King. How can dragon glass kill him and not a dragon's flame? Does not make any sense.
D&D said themselves they don’t get the magic of the world of ice and fire which is why the magical elements and aspects were never explored which is why Bran is boring and everything else just felt stale and rushed
E V E R G R E E N content brother, always worth a rewatch to refresh on what seems like foundational thoughts now amongst new school asoiaf channels. I love hearing you shouted out and seeing your work built upon.
I like how, after the disappointment that was the ending of the tv show, the fandom basically said, "ANYWAY....." and went back to the books. XD
Daenerys fate is to end her valyrian ancestry's wrongs, she will burn the slave trade away.
And of course, she will be conflicted with her desire to conquer Westeros and her desire to do what is right. But after realizing that "where the dragons danced, people died" she will do whats right and go north.
One of the best of your videos I think. Most convincing parallels and symbolisms.
Still the best one was great empire series.
Thank you for the new content. I'm fighting covid at home by myself and hearing a friendly voice helps a ton.
Due to your mythology and myth deep dives as well as your excellent art presentation are going to make me join your channel! U rule LML!
"Where DID that horse come from? 🤔" made me chuckle
If Dany still kills everyone in King's Landing, maybe she has no choice. Maybe, to make sure she kills a pervasive infestation of wights, she must kill the living, dying, and dead of King's Landing in a dragon equivalent of a drone strike.
I know this is an old vid but I've been meaning to say... love the montypython- intro lol
Also yes fire is absolutely an Ajax for evil... if i recall correctly the first mention of heat equation cleanliness w heat is before Dany meets drogo and steps into the way too hot bath and her hand maiden tries to stop her but she thinks how she like the heat bc it makes her feel clean
"Ajax for evil" - I needed that laugh today
Nice catch, also!
Man, I just love your channel! you've made me look at structure and writing in a completely different way. It's mind blowing how you connect the dots and not just make theories based on popular opinion, you can back up your stuff with damn facts! haha I love it.
I'd hoped to make that my brand, yes ;)
This is the first time I’ve really watched one of your podcasts lml and I must say , it was very impressive. You can tell you have really studied this subject and your predictions seem to make perfect sense
Thank you! My video editing was rapidly improving when I made this video, it’s one I’m especially proud of :)
I love falling into these videos. The art, the art, the art! But it’s the narration and sound and ideas that light it all on Fire. 🔥💕🌳💕🔥
Awesome as always.
Two things that jumped out in this video:
If Dany destroying the heart of winter is important symbolism, how might her ceremony of eating the horse heart fit within that?
Secondly, the burning wight attacking Jon and “staggering across the solar” - moon meteor and solar king symbolism?
Fantastic work LmL. This is one of the best videos you have ever made (which is saying a lot), and I’m grateful for your presence in the ASOIAF fandom
Thank you so much, I’m especially proud of this one :)
Another excellent video! I was expecting Euron Part 2 as your next video. So this was a surprise. But a welcome one! 😄
Nothing burns like Ice
Saving this to get through work later, thanks LML!
The beginning is already amazing! Freeing the wights from icy servitude!
honestly I am very proud of this theory, I think it makes so much sense and it's such a nice merging of her heart-in-conflict character issues and the magical elements of the story. Sure hope I'm not wrong about this one. WOuld be such a great climax for basically the greatest fantasy character I know of.
To this day I still get so pissed off with how tv show destroyed Denny. Great video as always.
I love Daenerys themed videos!
The quote at 20:19 brings back the lyrics of haros bartossi, the fire sings to dany like it is mentioned in the song
My dog perks up and sits still and watches your videos! I think she really likes your voice lol. I put one on now whenever I need her to chill out. Thanks LmL!
perhaps there's a alternate live path out there where I am an awesome kennel-master hahah
The slaves she freed probably are back in chains for all we know the unsullied and greyworm get killed by the butterflies in Naath like the fact people defend D&D are really stupid casual viewers that are up everything they put on screen and believed it
Fantastic! A ton of stuff I've never noticed from the oft repeated same passages.
Was skeptical when this showed up on my dash but my God I am more than sold
Been waiting 2 days for the right time to watch this. Time is finally right now. Thanks lml....
That intro song man....its so awesome and epic!
❤ this.
Edit: ❤ *both* of these comments and theories.
Excellent video as you promised in your stream. Great work.
I'm so excited. I've been looking forward to this since you announced it. 🐉 🐲
Toss some birdseed to your Witcher, oh valley of plentyyy
Re ants: Tyrion also tells young griff about how Daenerys has "trodden the slaver cities to dust beneath her dainty sandled feet"...
Thank you for this D. My family loves you so much! Give Quinn our love, too♡
This was a great video.
Naw that all right on the money, we know 2D made up the Dany ending and it seems pretty obvious it’s going to be different in the books
Thank you for the continued content! Top notch!
Always envisioned daenerys having
❣️dragon wings❣️
Alongside
Gorgeous Magnificent Drogon!♥️💥🔥🔥💥♥️
Thank you for sharing!
Just when I am about to prep dinner. Perfect👏🏻👌🏻
I’ll have to rewatch it like 10 times! Love it!
I mean, dragons can't even fly over the Wall as proved by Alyssane. That must mean something, as in the Others, fearing the only things that could kill them, placed a spell of sorts here.
I don't want her on the throne. I just want her to go home and find love before she does die.
Why was I not notified about this video, dawg? These are my fav of your content!
so YT has made this all more complicated - you now have to not only click subscribe, click the bell, you also hav to click "all" under which type of notifications you want to receive. It's pretty dumb, but we christened it the "triple click"
I really really liked this video extremely well explained
